<P>Reactive oxygen species (ROS), generated by ionizing radiation, has been implicated in its effect on living tissues. We confirmed the changes in the oxidative stress markers upon irradiation. We characterized the changes in the proteome profile in rat liver after administering irradiation, and the affected proteins were identified by MALDI-TOF-MS and ESI-MS/MS. The identified proteins represent diverse sets of proteins participating in the cellular metabolism. Our results demonstrated that proteomics analysis is a useful method for characterization of a global proteome change caused by ionizing radiation to unravel the molecular mechanisms involved in the cellular responses to ionizing radiation.</P>

A five years old female Shih-tzu was presented to the Veterinary Mediccal Teaching Hospital of Chungnam National University. The dog had been treated corneal damage on left eye in the local animal hospital for 2 months caused by trauma. Conjunctival congestion, corneal edema, blepharospasm, photophobia, epiphora, purullent discharge were observed. In Schirmer tear test, the result was within normal range, in slit lamp examination there was no indication of any abnormality except the corneal region. Corneal epithelium was stained by fluorescein dye and antibiotic susceptibility test was performed. For treatment, antibiotics and mucolytic agent, NSAIDs and atropine were topically administered for two weeks. As a result, non-healing corneal ulceration had finally disappeared when rechecked after only topical treatment.

두경부에서 생긴 림프종에서 EBV와 HTLV-1의 검색

Background and Objectives : Extranodal non-Hodgkin's lymphoma(NHL) of the head and neck(H&N) accounts for 10-20% of all cases of NHL. Despite their frequency, the cause of these lymphomas is still poorly understood. Recently, the role of viral origin in NHLs, including Epstein-Barr virus(EBV), as the main cause of sinonasal lymphomas of T/NK cell phenotype and HTLV-1 as a cause of acute T-cell lymphoma/leukemia has been well documented. We investigated the clinicopathologic findings, immunophenotypic profile, and status of EBV and HTLV-1 DNA of patients with H&N lymphoma. Materials and Methods : Twenty-seven patients with NHL of H&N region were studied. There were 15 males and 12 females with the median age of 50 years. All patients were reclassified according to the Working formulation(WF) and REAL classification. EBV genome DNA and HTLV-1 RNA were surveyed by PCR assay using formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded tissue blocks. Results : The tonsil was the most commonly involved site(44.4%) followed by nasal cavity(18.5%), nasopharynx(18.5%) and orbit(7.4%). Immunophenotyping revealed 19 cases of B cell lineage, 7 cases of T cell lineage and one case of null cell type. Most of B-cell lymphomas were diffuse large cell lymphomas(58%). Tonsillar lymphomas were all B-cell origin. Four of the five nasal cavity lymphomas and one nasopharyngeal lymphoma showed an angiocentric T/NK cell phenotype with strong association with EBV. EBV genome was detected in 15 of 26 H&N NHLs(57.7%). Seven of 19 B-cell lymphomas(36.8%) and all T/NK or null cell type lymphomas were positive for EBV DNA. However, there was no HTLV-1 positive cases found. Conclusions : It could be concluded that the high incidence of EBV of angiocentric T/NK-cell lymphomas of the nasal cavity may indicate a probable role of EBV in the development of these lymphomas.

In this study, additions of aluminium foil eching characteristics were compared with sulfuric acid for capacitor. sulfuric acid and ethylene glycol is used as addition, characteristics of funtional group from addition were guessed by comparing of aluminium foil eching characteristics. When sulfuric acid was added in HCI etching solution, corrosion of aluminum metal was inhibited by the chemical adsorption of sulfate ion, when ethylen glycol was added in HCI etching solution, corrosion inhibited by the chemical adsorption of OH^ion.

To collect real-time link traffic information(Link Travel Time) for based on beacon and GPS technologies prove cars always have to be operate on the entire network. In this study, in case of taxi probe cars based with Beacon and GPS, method on determining required number of probe cars is studied to get traffic information of reality. Using taxis for probe cars, the the factors that influence the number of probe cars are operation time and distribution of prove cars over the network, operate distance and travel speed, the portion of revenue operation distance of taxis. The result of this study was ; As the collecting period for one traffic information prove cars travel more link, thus the number of prove cars decreases. The number of prove cars decreases when the allowable numer of links that no link travel times are collected increases.
FEA와 다이나모메터를 이용한 자동차 디스크 브레이크의 열적 거동에 관한 연구

While braking cars, a large amount of energy is taken into the brake system in a short period of time. This leads to some problems ; cracking of the disc, non-uniform wear of pad and disc, fade. Thus it is important to measure the contact thermal behaviour precisely between disc and pad. The measurements must be considered to design the brake system. The paper describes methods to analysis the problem of the thermal behavior on the ventilated disc with ANSYS-a program of FEA and a brake dynamometer. According to this way, the paper can present the error between the data by the dynamometer and the results of analysis by ANSYS.

The α-haloacetones, (X=F or Cl), have been studied by molecular mechanics method. The possible conformations are discussed, and structures and energies are predicted. For the two examples where the conformations known, the calculations are in good agreement with experiment.

Molecular Mechanics force-field calculations were performed to determine relative stabilities of rotamers for α-Substituted acetones, CH₂XCOCH₃, X=Br, I. It was found that rotamers corresponding to gauche forms are preferred for all the α-substituents. The conformation of acetones are influenced by hyperconjugation and steric effect, this is bending energy.

This Study investigated a possibility of lateral movement in the reconstruction field of Nongso bridge at Nongso-ri, Joochon-myeon, Kimhae. The methods applied in this study were the judgement formula and the Finite Element Method(FEM). The conclusions are shown in the following. 1) The application of the FEM, as well as the judgement formula resulted in the lateral movement. 2) Bridge abutment and foundation must be constructed after completing consolidation. 3) The occurrence possibility of lateral movement should be judged by the FEM that can re-present field conditions. 4) Lateral movement will take place in the case. Hence, settlement of proper countermeasure method should be followed by the construction.
