<P>We synthesized 1 (San78-130), a reversible version of L-783277, as a selective and potent ALK1 inhibitor. Our study showed that 1 possesses great kinase selectivity against a panel of 342 kinases and more potent activity against ALK1 than L-783277. Among the six ALK isotypes (ALK1-6), ALK1 is most significantly inhibited by compound 1. Compound 1 suppresses the BMP9-induced Smad1/5 pathway by mainly inhibiting ALK1 in C2C12 cells. Our molecular dynamics simulations suggest that H-bonding interaction between the C-4' hydroxyl group of 1 and Arg334 of ALK1 substantially contributes to the ALK1 inhibition. To the best of our knowledge, 1 is the first selective ALK1 inhibitor. Furthermore, compound 1 promoted angiogenesis in both endothelial tube formation and microfluidic chip based 3D angiogenesis assays, suggesting that 1 could be a lead compound for therapeutic angiogenesis agents. Our study may provide an insight into designing selective and potent inhibitors against ALK1.</P>

<P>Flowering is the primary trait affected by ambient temperature changes. Plant microRNAs (miRNAs) are small non-coding RNAs playing an important regulatory role in plant development. In this study, to elucidate the mechanism of flowering-time regulation by small RNAs, we identified six ambient temperature-responsive miRNAs (miR156, miR163, miR169, miR172, miR398 and miR399) in <I>Arabidopsis</I> via miRNA microarray and northern hybridization analyses. We also determined the expression profile of 120 unique miRNA loci in response to ambient temperature changes by miRNA northern hybridization analysis. The expression of the ambient temperature-responsive miRNAs and their target genes was largely anticorrelated at two different temperatures (16 and 23°C). Interestingly, a lesion in <I>short vegetative phase</I> (<I>SVP</I>), a key regulator within the thermosensory pathway, caused alteration in the expression of miR172 and a subset of its target genes, providing a link between a thermosensory pathway gene and miR172. The miR172-overexpressing plants showed a temperature-independent early flowering phenotype, suggesting that modulation of miR172 expression leads to temperature insensitivity. Taken together, our results suggest a genetic framework for flowering-time regulation by ambient temperature-responsive miRNAs under non-stress temperature conditions.</P>

<B>ABSTRACT</B><B>Background:</B><P>Epidemiological studies have reported that higher education (HE) is associated with a reduced risk of incident Alzheimer's disease (AD). However, after the clinical onset of AD, patients with HE levels show more rapid cognitive decline than patients with lower education (LE) levels. Although education level and cognition have been linked, there have been few longitudinal studies investigating the relationship between education level and cortical decline in patients with AD. The aim of this study was to compare the topography of cortical atrophy longitudinally between AD patients with HE (HE-AD) and AD patients with LE (LE-AD).</P><B>Methods:</B><P>We prospectively recruited 36 patients with early-stage AD and 14 normal controls. The patients were classified into two groups according to educational level, 23 HE-AD (>9 years) and 13 LE-AD (≤9 years).</P><B>Results:</B><P>As AD progressed over the 5-year longitudinal follow-ups, the HE-AD showed a significant group-by-time interaction in the right dorsolateral frontal and precuneus, and the left parahippocampal regions compared to the LE-AD.</P><B>Conclusion:</B><P>Our study reveals that the preliminary longitudinal effect of HE accelerates cortical atrophy in AD patients over time, which underlines the importance of education level for predicting prognosis.</P>

본 연구는 아동·청소년을 대상으로 하는 온라인 그루밍 성범죄가 증가하는 이유를 짚어보고, 온라인 그루밍이 일어나는 구체적 과정을 드러내는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 온라인 그루밍 피해 아동·청소년을 상담한 경험이 있는 아동·청소년 지원기관 실무자 9명을 대상으로 심층면접을 진행했다. 연구 결과, 성범죄자들은 디지털 환경의 관계 맺기에 익숙한 아동·청소년들의 특성을 악용해 이들에게 접근하고 순응, 협박, 통제 과정을 거쳐 성착취를 행하는 동일한 전략을 사용하고 있었다. 하지만 온라인 그루밍의 채널이 다양화·음지화되면서 위험이 증가하는 데 반해, 온라인 그루밍이 성범죄로 인식되지 않거나 아동·청소년 피해자가 자발적 동조자로 간주되면서 사회적 지원체계에서 멀어지는 경우가 많았다. 이를 통해 본 연구는 한국사회가 온라인 그루밍의 피해자인 아동·청소년을 낙인찍기보다, 디지털 네이티브인 아동·청소년의 특성을 이해하고, 사회·문화적 구조 개선에 초점을 맞추어 온라인 그루밍 성범죄에 대한 대응책을 마련할 필요가 있음을 주장하고자 한다. The purpose of this study is to examine the background of the increase in online grooming targeting children and adolescents, and to reveal the process of the online grooming sex offenses. To this end, this study conducted in-depth interviews with 9 practitioners of child and adolescent support organizations who had experience counseling with children and adolescents victims of online grooming. The findings show that the groomers have contacted children and adolescents, by taking advantage of teen’s characteristics as digital natives. It also reveals that the groomers use the same strategy of compliance, threat, and control for sexual exploitation. Since the channels of online grooming are being hidden and diversified, its danger is increasing. However, in many situations, online grooming is not yet recognized as crime. The young victims are considered as voluntary participants and it makes them drift away from the social supporting system. Through these results, this study proposes the necessity of understanding the characteristics of digital native children and adolescents, and focusing on the sociocultural structures, rather than stigmatizing children and adolescents who become victims of online grooming.

최근 인터넷·정보 통신 기술이 크게 발달하면서 기술 발명의 권리 보장을 위한 특허 발명 수 또한 급격히 증가하고 있다. 또한, 특허 문헌에는 최신 기술 및 요소 기술들이 포함되어 있기 때문에 발명된 기술들의 분석을 통해 기술 가치 평가, 기술 분야의 동향 파악 및 기술 발전의 추이를 예측할 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 시계열 분석 도구를 이용하여 최근 20년 동안의 특허 발명 추이를 분석하여 특정 기술 도메인에 대한 추이 분석 사례를 보인다.

Construction of an obturator for rehabilitation of a patient who underwent a maxillectomy is vital. Routinely a constructed obturator includes denture portion. A patient who may present anatomical limitations due to surgical or radiotherapy complications often challenges the clinician. Purpose: This clinical report describes a patient with severe trismus after surgical resection and radiotherapy treatment of a tumor in the upper left maxilla. Conclusion: This report describes the concepts of using a rotational path insertion for an obturator and a separately constructed maxillary denture. The stability and retention of the obturator were obtained from anatomical features. Where as these were achieved through magnetic attachments and the remaining edentulous ridge to ensure esthetic and function of the prosthesis.
아파트 외장색채 평가를 위한 감성어휘 추출에 관한 연구

아파트 외장색채 평가를 위한 감성어휘 추출을 목적으로 브랜드별 매뉴얼 컬러를 활용하여 자유배색을 통해 연상되는 어휘 148개를 수집하고, 전문가의 검증을 거쳐 총 73개의 색채 평가 어휘를 선정하였다. 이를 토대로 최근 5년 이내에 완공된 27개의 아파트 외장 색채를 평가하였고, 평가 어휘의 구조를 분석하고자 다차원척도법을 활용하여 평가어휘 간 유클리디안 거리 모형을 제시하였으며, 선정된 73개의 평가어휘를 ‘화려한’, ‘전원적인’, ‘고급스러운’, ‘도회적인’, ‘산뜻한’의 그룹으로 분류하였다.
Sphingomonas abietis sp. nov., an Endophytic Bacterium Isolated from Korean Fir

PAMB 00755T , a bacterial strain, was isolated from Korean fir leaves. The strain exhibits yellow colonies and consists of Gram-negative, non-motile, short rods or ovoid-shaped cells. It displays optimal growth conditions at 20°C, 0% NaCl, and pH 6.0. Results of 16S rRNA gene-based phylogenetic analyses showed that strain PAMB 00755T was most closely related to Sphingomonas chungangi MAH-6T (97.7%) and Sphingomonas polyaromaticivorans B2-7T (97.4%), and ≤96.5% sequence similarity to other members of the genus Sphingomonas. The values of average nucleotide identity (79.9–81.3%), average amino acid identity (73.3–75.9%), and digital DNA–DNA hybridization (73.3– 75.9%) were significantly lower than the threshold values for species boundaries; these overall genome-related indexes (OGRI) analyses indicated that the strain represents a novel species. Genomic analysis revealed that the strain has a 4.4-Mbp genome encoding 4,083 functional genes, while the DNA G+C content of the whole genome is 66.1%. The genome of strain PAMB 00755T showed a putative carotenoid biosynthetic cluster responsible for its antioxidant activity. The respiratory quinone was identified as ubiquinone 10 (Q-10), while the major fatty acids in the profile were identified as C18:1ω7c and/or C18:1ω6c (summed feature 8). The major polar lipids of strain PAMB 00755T were diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, sphingoglycolipid, and phosphatidylcholine. Based on a comprehensive analysis of genomic, phenotypic, and chemotaxonomic characteristics, we proposed the name Sphingomonas abietis sp. nov. for this novel species, with PAMB 00755T as the type strain (= KCTC 92781T = GDMCC 1.3779T ).
