Objectives : Allergic children have known to have multiple behavior problems. Among them, attentional ability disorder is one of the most common problems. This study is to examine relationship between learning ability and allergic rhinitis by analyzing EEG status of children. Methods : We analyzed cognitive functions of two different children groups; 21 children with allergic rhinitis and 19 normal children with CANS 3000(Central & Autonomic Nervous System, LAXTHA Inc., Korea), cognitive functions assessment program by EEG. Results : 1. According to mean active EEG rhythm of Theta, Alpha, SMR, M-beta, there were no significant difference between allergic rhinitis and the normal group. 2. According to mean active EEG rhythm of right H-beta, Gamma wave allergic rhinitis group's value was significantly higher than that of the normal group. 3. According to mean cognitive strength, response, concentration, left / right brain activity and learning ability score, there were no significant difference between allergic rhinitis and the normal group. 4. According to mean workload score, allergic rhinitis group's value was significantly higher than that of the normal group. Conclusions : It is likely that allergic rhinitis group, which showed relatively high frequency EEG rhythm, is more fragile to stress and less active on mental processing. Along side with physical examination, psychological assessment should also be conjugated on treating children with allergic rhinitis.
아토피양(樣)피부염 NC/Nga생쥐에서 자음제습탕가감(滋陰除濕湯加減)의 투여가 피부염에 미치는 영향

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of JUJSTK on atopic dermatitis in an in-vitro experiment using an NC/Nga atopic dermatitis mouse, which has histological and clinical similarities to the humans in terms of health condition. Methods : We evaluated IL-1$\beta$, IL-6, IL-10, TNF-$\alpha$ mRNA, TGF-$\beta$ mRNA, CD4+/IFN-$\gamma$+ and IL-17+CD4+Th17 cells of NC/Nga atopic dermatitis mouse by real-time PCR and intracellular staining in vitro. Results : JUJSTK medicines supressed the activities of IL-1$\beta$, IL-6, TNF-$\alpha$, TGF-$\beta$ mRNA and IL-17+CD4+Th17 cells and it incresed the activities of IL-10 mRNA in B cells. The level of CD4+/IFN-$\gamma$+ in T cells were increased by JUSSTK. Conclusions : JUJSTK on atopic dermatitis might be incredibly effective to the atopic dermatitis treatment.

Objectives This study is to investigate the effects of oriental medical treatment for traumatic cerebral infarction. Methods We treated the patients with herbal medicine, acupuncture, aroma therapy, rehabilitation, and we evaluated these cases with Activity Index. Results There are some improvements in each patients, such as manual muscle power, finger apraxia after oriental medical treatments. Conclusions We report a change for the better effect of oriental medical treatment on this case. The more clinical studies of oriental medical treatment for traumatic cerebral infarction are needed.
가미통규탕(加味通竅湯)이 호흡기 뮤신 분비 및 기관 평활근 긴장도에 미치는 영향

Objectives In the present study, the author intended to investigate whether Gamitonggyu-tang (GTT) significantly affects (since the subject is GTT, you need an 's') in vivo and in vitro mucin secretion from airway epithelial cells. Methods In vivo experiment, mice's mucin which is on a hypersecretion of an airway, mice's tracheal goblet cells in hyperplasia and mice's intraepithelial mucosubstances were exposed with SO2 for 3 weeks. Effects of orally-administered GTT for 1 week on in vivo mucin secretion and hyperplasia of tracheal goblet cells were assessed by using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and staining goblet cells with alcian blue. In vitro experiment, confluent hamster tracheal surface epithelial (HTSE) cells were metabolically radiolabeled with 3H-glucosamine for 24 hrs and chased for 30 min in the presence of GTT to figure out the effectiveness of 3H-mucin secretion. Total elution profiles of control spent media and treatment sample through Sepharose CL-4B column were analyzed.Possible cytotoxicities of each agent were assessed by measuring lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) release. Also, the effect of GTT on contractility of isolated tracheal smooth muscle was investigated. Results (1) GTT inhibited hypersecretion of in vivo mucin. However, it did not affect the increase the number of goblet cells (2) GTT significantly increased mucin release from cultured HTSE cells, without significant cytotoxicity (3) GTT chiefly affected the 'mucin' secretion and did not affect the secretion of the other releasable glycoproteins with less molecular weight than mucin (4) GTT did not affect Ach-induced contraction of isolated tracheal smooth muscle.Conclusions This result suggests that GTT can increase mucin secretion during short-term treatment (in vitro) whereas it can inihibit hypersecretion of mucin during long-term treatment (in vivo). The author suggests that the effect GTT with their components should be further investigated and it is valuable to find from oriental medical prescriptions, novel agents which might regulate mucin secretion from airway epithelial cells.
아토피양(樣)피부염 NC/Nga 생쥐에서 자음제습탕가감(滋陰除濕湯加減)과 아토피 크림-자운고(紫雲膏)의 병용투여가 피부염에 미치는 영향

Objectives The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of a concurrent administration of JUJSTK and AJ on atopic dermatitis in an in-vivo experiment. Thus, this study is expressed by using NC/Nga atopic dermatitis mice which have histological and clinical similarities to that of humans have been used. Methods Clinical skin score, hematology, serum total IgE and IgG1 of the mouse was evaluated, and cytokine levels, total number of the cells, immunohistochemical staining, histological features of axillary lymph node(ALN), peripheral blood mononuclear cells(PBMCs), and a dorsal skin tissue of the mouse were analyzed. Results Oral administration of JUJSTK and concurrent administration of JUJSTK and AJ lowered the clinical skin score, total cell number of WBC, eosinophils in blood, and serum total of IgE & IgG1, IFN-$\gamma$, IL-5, IL-13, IL-17. In addition, total cell number of ALN and dorsal skin tissue, absolute cell number of $CD3e^+$ T cell, $CD4^+$ Th cell, $CD8^+$ c/sT cell, $CD3^+CCR3^+$ cell, $CCR3^+$ cell, $CD3^+CD69^+$, $CD4^+CXCR5^+$ in ALN, PBMCs, absolute cell number of $CCR3^+$, $CD3^+/CD69^+$, $CD11b^+/Gr-1^+$, $CD11b^+/Gr-1^+$ in dorsal skin tissue, Eotaxin2 mRNA, CCR3 mRNA in dorsal skin tissue and gene expression of IL-5 mRNA, IL-13 mRNA in ALN were significantly decreased. Furthermore, thickness of epidermis infiltrated inflammatory immune cell & mast cell in dermis, histological infiltration of mast cell, the size of inflammatory lymphocytes cells & plasma cells in ALN and histological infiltration of $CD4^+$ & $CCR3^+$ in ALN and dorsal skin tissue were significantly decreased as well. Conclusions Concurrent administration of JUJSTK and AJ on atopic dermatitis in an in-vivoexperiment by using an NC/Nga atopic dermatitis mouse was very effective as an atopic dermatitis treatment.
Extrusion 사료가공기술이 대두의 질소분해, 소화율 및 반추위내 발효성상에 미치는 효과

본 연구는 생대두의 이용성을 향상시키기 위한 Extruding처리온도 효과를 비교하기 위하여 생대두와 125℃, 135℃, 145℃에서 extruding 시킨 대두등 4가지 대두에 대한 in sacco disappearance rate, in vivo 소화율, 반추위내 발효성상에 미치는 영향을 규명하고자 제 1위와 4위에 canulae를 설치한 평균체중 40㎏인 숫면양을 이용하여 실시하였다. 급여사료는 농후사료와 조사료 급여비율의 70 : 30인 완전사료 pellet을 제조하였다. 본 시험에서 얻어진 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. In sacco 방법에 의한 건물 disappearance rate는 3∼9시간 배양시에는 큰 차이는 없었으나 12시간,24시간 배양시 처리온도에 따라 감소하는 경향을 나타냈다(p<0.5) 2. 질소 disappearance rate는 건물결과와 같이 처리온도가 증가함에 따라 감소하는 경향을 보였으며 12시간 배양시 135℃ 처리구가 가장 낮았고(p<0.01), 24시간 배양시 처리온도간 차이는 없었다. 3. Pepsin 소화율은 6시간 배양시킨 잔유물은 88∼90% 범위로 135℃, 145℃ 처리구가 약간 높았다(p<0.05). 4. 생대두에 대한 extruding 처리온도는 in vivo영양소 이용율에 미치는 영향을 뚜렷하지 않았으나 단백질은 증가하고 지방은 감소하는 경향이었다. 5. 질소축적률은 extruding 처리온도가 증가할 수록 향상되는 경향을 나타냈으며 135℃처리구가 가장 높았다(p$lt;0.1). 6. 위액의 pH, NH₃-N, 총 VFA 함량은 extruding 처리에 의한 별 영향을 받지 않았으나 135℃ 처리구에서 pH,NH₃-N은 낮은 경향이었고, 총 VFA함량은 다소 높았으며 위액의 propionate는 유의하게 증가하였다(p<0.1).
