연소의 특성으로 대부분의 화재현장에서 상단 부위에 존재하는 가연물은 대류현상 등에 의해 소실되어 연소 후 나타나는 흔적을 식별하기 곤란하며, 바닥 부분의 바닥재 등의 경우는 화재발생 이후 상승 연소하는 화염에 의해 소훼된 가연물 등이 소락하여 질식소화되므로 비교적 초기의 연소패턴을 유지하고 있는 점을 착안하여, 바닥에서 나타나는 흔적 등을 비교 검토하여 연소의 촉매제로 사용된 물질의 종류를 추론함으로써 초기에 진행되는 수사에 많은 도움을 줄 수 있다.
Effects of a Cap Layer on the Confined Sublevels in Near-surface InAs/GaAs Quantum Dots

We have investigated the effects of the potential barrier on the confined sublevels observed in the photoluminescence (PL) emission spectra of InAs quantum dots (QDs) capped by an ultra-thin GaAs layer. The PL peak energy of normal InAs QDs covered by a sufficiently thick GaAs layer remains constant as 1.11/1.03 eV (15/300 K). For QD systems with cap layers thinner than 10 nm, however, red-shift and blue-shift phenomena in the emission energy are observed above and below, respectively, a critical coverage of 5 nm, which is approximately the same as the average QD height. The red shift and the blue shift can be explained, respectively, by changes in the strained potentials of the GaAs interfaced with the InAs layer and in the band bending of the ultra-thin GaAs potential barriers near surface.
Growth-Mode Transition Controlled by the Substrate Temperature in InAs/GaAs Quantum-Dot Ensembles

We report a growth-mode transition observed in the optical and the structural characteristics of self-assembled InAs quantum-dot (QD) ensembles with different size distributions controlled by the substrate temperature. The photoluminescence spectra and the atomic force microscope images show that the QD ensembles change from a small-size mode to a large-size one via a bimodal phase appearing at a mode-transition temperature of 490C. On the bases of the variations of the emission energy and the apparent dimension, two kinds of growth mechanisms of adatom diffusion and island migration are suggested for the island ripening and the dynamic coalescence of QDs below and above the mode-transition temperature. Finally, we proposed a schematic model illustrating the size evolution of QDs. 정천화담강기탕(定喘化痰降氣湯)이 ovalbumin으로 유발(誘發)된 천식(喘息)의 조직학적(組織學的) 변화(變化)에 미치는 영향(影響)

Objectives : In order to study the effect of oral administration of Jungcheonhwadamgangki-tang against the asthma. Method : Asthma was induced to Balb/c mouse with ovalbumin by using method of Hatfield et al. It was observed the changes numbers and morphology of the mast cells in the trachea, numbers of mucous secretory cell in the bronchus, morphology of the bronchus, ultramicroscopical appearance of surface of trachea and number of cilia and mucous secretory cells by scanning electron microscope. Result : 1. Degranulation and decreasing of the numbers of mast cells were significantly decreased in the Jungcheonhwadamgangki-tang extract group as compared with control group. 2. Hypertrophy of mucous membrane of bronchus In the lung, infiltration of inflammatory cells, increasing of mucous secretory cells in the bronchus were significantly decreased in the Jungcheonhwadamgangki-tang extract group as compared with control group. 3. Shedding, decreasing of cilia cells and increasing of mucous secretory cells in the surface of the trachea were significantly decreased in the Jungcheonhwadamgangki-tang extract group as compared with control group. Conclusion : It is considered that Jungcheonhwadamgangki-tang has somewhat favorable effects on the asthma because the asthma specific series of abnormalities in respiratory system were decreased after oral administration of Jungcheonhwadamgangki-tang in this study. In future, it is needed that the toxicological and dosage specific study of Jungcheonwhadamgangki-tang to use against bronchial asthma with safe.

Low-grade nasopharyngeal papillary adenocarcinoma is a very rare nasopharyngeal, surface epithelium-derived malignant tumor characterized with adenocarcinomatous differentiation and an indolent biological behavior. We report a case of 36-year old female presenting a papillary adenocarcinoma of the nasopharynx. The tumor was of a 0.5 cm sized exophytic mass located on the nasopharyngeal mucosa near the posterior choanal septum. Because of the histologic similarities with thyroid papillary carcinoma, it was necessary to rule out metastasis from thyroid by immunohistochemical staining for thyroglobulin. Surgical excisionwas done via transpalatal approach;mass was removed with a clear resection margin.
