      • Fabrication and Analysis of 3D Scaffold by Sintering of Bioactive Agent-loaded PLCL Microspheres

        The development of medical and pharmaceutical technology dramatically increased the life span of human while increasing bone-related disease due to aging and accidents. In this study, using a synthetic polymer, poly(lactide-co-caprolacton) (PLCL), biodegradable porous three-dimensional scaffolds were developed as a bone substitute for acceleration of bone regeneration. The scaffolds were fabricated by sintering polymeric microspheres containing bioactive agent. Our result confirmed that the scaffold has excellent biocompatibility and high bone conductivity and, therefore, it is believed that the scaffolds developed in this study are potentially applied for bone tissue regeneration.

        Analysis of Electroencephalogram and Electrocardiogram Changes in Adults in National Healing Forests Environment

        This study analyzed the changes in Electroencephalogram(EEG) and Electrocardiogram(ECG) depending on the healing environment in order to find a way to improve the forest healing program based on the healing environment in response to the demand for qualitative improvement of the program since the program is a charged service. This study selected eight sites running forest healing programs at four national healing forests (i.e., Saneum, Cheongtaesan, Daegwanryeng, and Jangseong) - two routes per national healing forest - considering forest environments. This study chose NUMBER standard sampling plots (20×20m) and measured three atmospheric environment items, seven physical environment items, two soil environment items, and eight vegetation environment items including forest sound and anion at each plot to evaluate physiological changes in it. EEG and ECG, which have been widely used in forest healing evaluation, were utilized as criteria. Seventy three subjects were selected with taking the age, drug, caffeine, smoking, and the time of last meal into consideration. As a result, EEG changes were correlated with three atmospheric environment items, six physical environment items, one soil environment item, and two vegetation environment items. ECG changes were significantly correlated with two atmospheric environment items, six physical environment items, two soil environment items, and two vegetation environment items (p<.05). It is expected that 11 environmental factors such as temperature, density, and altitude affecting EEG (e.g., alpha balance and gamma balance) and ECG (e.g., HRV mean) could be used as effective tools in developing more differentiated programs for improving healing effects.

      • Preparation of drug-loaded porous microspheres and hybrid scafolds

        Due to the enormous development of biotechnology, the average life expectancy of human greatly increased, which led to increase in elderly popularation. As consequence, the incidence of bone diseases is increasing. Therefore, research is underway to treate damages caused by bone-related diseases without side effects. In this investigation, a porous microsphere and hybrid scaffold were prepared and drug release kinetics was evaluated by using HPLC. The physical and chemical properties of microspheres and scaffolds were analyzed using FTIR, SEM. Their effects on osteoblast proliferation and differentiation were characterized in terms of CCK-8 and ALP activity.

        치유의 숲 산림치유 프로그램의 활동 내용 분석

        This study aimed to improve the quality of forest healing program through analyses of the program activities given at National Healing Forest and surveys conducted by Korea Forest Service. 99 DB data of the healing forest that were surveyed by KFS (August 2015~April 2016) were collected in order to affirm the activities. We analysed DB based on the format of the survey by target, 6 healing factors, location, season, time periods, operation hours and multifaceted evaluation. The results showed that the activities in the forest healing program targeted general public and the factor that was considered the most was psychotherapy factor. Healing forest trails were used as a location, spring, summer and fall as season, morning and afternoon as time period for the majority of the activities. The running time was 60 minutes. The multifaceted evaluation revealed that dynamic activities were preferred the most in development of programs. According to the results of the forest healing programs, it seems to be critical to enhance forest healing instructors’ diversified professionalism. However, this will only be achievable once further investigations regarding forest healing effects by types of illnesses are conducted and provide solid foundation for such professionalism. 본 연구는 2015년 8월부터 2016년 4월까지 산림청이 조사한 국유치유의 숲에서 진행된 프로그램 활동내용을 분석하여 산림치유 프로그램의 질적 향상을 위한 방안을 모색하였다. 조사된 치유의 숲에서 진행된 프로그램 활동내용 DB자료 99개를 수집하여 활동내용을 확인하고, 조사 양식에 따라 대상자, 6대 요법(인자), 장소, 계절,시간대, 운영시간, 다면평가에 따라 구분하여 분석하였다. 분석 결과 산림치유 프로그램 활동을 구성할 때 대상자는 대체로 일반적인 대상을 상대로 구성하며, 6대 요법 중 가장 많이 고려된 인자는 정신건강인자였다. 장소는 치유숲길을 가장 많이 활용하였으며, 계절은 봄·여름·가을, 시간대는 오전·오후 모두 가능한 활동이 대부분이었다.또한, 1개 활동의 운영시간은 60분이, 다면평가에서는 동적인 활동이 프로그램 개발 시 가장 선호되었다. 개발된산림치유 프로그램의 활동내용을 분석한 결과 산림치유 프로그램의 질적 향상을 위하여 산림치유 프로그램을 개발하는 산림치유지도사의 세분화된 전문성이 강화되어야 할 것이다. 그러나 질환별 산림치유 효과에 대한 연구가먼저 선행되어야 입증된 연구를 바탕으로 전문성을 갖출 수 있을 것이다.

      • Preparation of Bone Tissue Scaffold by Sintering PLCL Microspheres

        In modern societies, bone tissues are frequently damaged by diseases, accidents, or modern life style. In addition, as human life span increases as a result of advanced medical and pharmaceutical technologies, bone diseases in the elderly are becoming an unavoidable problem. In this study, a porous artificial tissue scaffold with good biolysis for the promotion of bone regeneration using a synthetic polymer, poly(lactideco- caprolacton). Prior to fabricating 3D scaffold, PLCL microspheres were prepared and then sintered to form 3D structure. Our result confirmed that the scaffold was highly biocompatible and showed osteoconductivity.         Changes in Depression and Stress of the Middle-Aged and Elderly through Participation in a Forest Therapy Program for Dementia Prevention

        Various health and social issues related to the elderly are emerging in line with the rapid aging of the population. In particular, dementia currently has a prevalence of about 10 percent of the elderly population in South Korea, which increases financial and social burdens to not only individual patients but also their caring family. To assess the effects of participating in the forest therapy programs for dementia prevention, this study recruited participants aged 50 and above and tested their depression (Korean form of Geriatric Depression Scale; KGDS) and stress response (Modified form of Stress Response Inventory; SRI-MF), which are emotional aspects of dementia. As a result, KGDS showed a significant decrease of 3.2 points from 8.4 to 5.2 points, and SRI-MF showed a significant decrease of 7.2 points from 40 to 32.8 points, indicating a statistically significant improvement in both. In addition, participants with minor depression and high level of stress in the pretest showed statistically significant improvements in the SRI-MF for men, and the KGDS and SRI-MF for women. Furthermore, there were statistically significant improvements in KGDS for participants in their 60s and in SRI-MF for those in their 70s in terms of age, and in both KGDS and SRI-MF for participants with chronic diseases and in KGDS for participants without chronic diseases. This study confirmed the effects of forest therapy on the prevention of the emotional aspects of dementia and laid the groundwork for increasing the applicability of forest therapy by obtaining a place for dementia prevention as a field of forest therapy.

      • Preparartion of Alginate Microspheres as a Drug Delivery Carrier

        As the average life span of human beings increases rapidly due to the development of biotechnology, not only the elderly but also the modern people are also worried about the progress of aging. Therefore, there is a tendency to actively study the prevention and management of skin aging. In this experiment, the gelatin/alginate acid mixed microsphere containing β-glucan (GLN), a natural extract, was prepared and analyzed through SEM. Component analysis was performed using FT-IR. In addition, HPLC was used to confirm the release of the drug in the mixed microsphere. Finally, the cytotoxicity test was conducted using NIH-3T3 cells to confirm the effect of the mixed microsphere on the cell.
