This paper presents a novel way to reduce hysteresis in piezoelectric actuator by connecting the actuator with a capacitor in a series circuit. The change in hysteresis with respect to the capacitor was examined. 0.2Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O₃-0.8Pb(Zr?.₄?? Ti?.?₂?)O₃ ceramic material was used as a piezoelectric material for the actuator. Displacement of the actuator was measured in a capacitive gap sensor measuring system. In case of inserting a capacitor in a total circuit, hysteresis became dramatically decreased, and then finally the hysteresis value can be reduced below 0.3%.
탈북 학생들의 고등학교와 그 이후 교육 경험에 대한 연구 - 능동적 노력과 구조적 제약의 상호작용 -

본 연구의 목적은 한국에 거주하는 탈북 학생들의 고등학교 및 대학교에서의 학습경험을 능동적인 학습자의 관점에서 분석하고, 그들의 노력과 그 결과를 드러내는 것이다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 국내에서 고등학교를 졸업하고 대학교를 다닌 경험이 있는 11명의 탈북 학생들로부터 수집된 질적 면담 자료를 활용하고 있다. 연구 결과에 따르면, 탈북 학생들은 학업, 진로, 또래 및 교사와의 관계 형성을 위해 적극적인 노력을 기울이는 반면, 구조적·제도적 한계가 그들의 학업과 적응을 가로막고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 특히, 한국 학생들보다 제한된 교육기회와 여건, 입시에 대한 정보 부족, 탈북자들에 대한 편견 등이 연구에 참여한 탈북 학생들의 교육과 성장에 걸림돌이 되고 있었다. 이와 같은 결과를 토대로 본 연구는 탈북 학생들의 교육을 가로막고 있는 구조적 제약을 완화하기 위하여 일반 학교에서의 교육 문화와 여건의 개선, 대안고등학교의 교사 훈련과 교육과정의 체계화, 대학교에서의 탈북 학생 지원 프로그램 운영 등을 주요 방안으로 제시하고 있다. Based on qualitative interviews of eleven North Koreans, this research examined how school curriculum, post-secondary paths, and teacher and peer relationships affect their experiences in South Korean high schools and universities. Major findings revealed that North Korean students make efforts as active agents to overcome diverse obstacles they encounter in schools, yet structural limitations continued to hinder their academic success. In particular, lack of authentic learning opportunities, insufficient information about post-secondary opportunities, biases about North Koreans appeared to influence their experiences in schools. Based on these findings, this study proposes that making public schools more accessible, improving the quality of education in alternative high schools, assisting North Korean students in higher education institutes more systematically are necessary for their academic and social integration in South Korean schools.

This study presents the combined effect of electric field application and mechanical compressive stress loading on deformation in a multilayer ceramic actuator, designed with stacking alternatively 0.2(PbMn_(1/3)Nb_(2/3)O₃)-0.8(PbZr_(0.475))Ti_(0.525)O₃) ceramics and Ag-Pd electrode. The deformation behaviors were thought to be attributed to relative 180°domain quantities which is determined by pre-loaded stress and electric field. The non-linearity of piezoelectricity and strain are dependent upon the young's modulus resulting from the domain reorientation.
A Comparative Study on Supplemental Educational Services in the United States and Korea

학업부진학생들을 위한 보충수업(SES: Supplemental Educational Services)은 모든 학생들의 기초학력을 보장함으로써 공교육의 질적 수준을 높이려는 정책적 차원의 노력이다. 특히 저소득층 학생들일수록 학력 수준이 떨어지는 경향이 있다는 점을 고려한다면, 이들을 위한 보충수업은 사회적 불평등을 해소하기 위해서도 반드시 필요한 조치라고 할 수 있다. 그러나 어떤 기준으로 학업부진 학생들을 선별하고, 누가, 어떤 종류의 보충수업을 제공할 것이냐는 간단한 문제가 아니다. 특히 한국과 미국은 학업 성취와 학교의 책무성을 강조하던 신자유주의적 정책에서 벗어나 학업부진 학생들에 대한 새로운 지원 방안을 모색하고 있다. 이러한 과도기적 상황에 주목하면서 본 연구는 역사적 배경과 현황, 성과, 주요 쟁점 등의 측면에서 양국의 보충수업을 비교하고 있다. 연구 결과, 한국과 미국 모두 학업부진 학생들의 학력향상에 주안점을 두고 있지만, 한국에 비해 미국 학교들의 보충수업 효과는 미미한 것으로 나타났다. 또한 한국의 경우 기본적으로 모든 학업부진 학생들에게 보충수업 참여기회가 제공되고 있지만, 미국의 경우 수혜자의 비율이 갈수록 줄어들고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 현상의 일차적 원인은 예산이 제한되어 있는 상태에서, 민간 업체에 보충수업을 위탁하는 미국식 시장주의 때문인 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 토대로, 본 연구는 학업부진학생들을 위한 보다 효과적인 보충수업 지원 방안을 제안하고 있다. Supplemental Educational Services (SES) are government initiated tutoring services to strengthen basic skills of academically underachieving students and thus close achievement gaps among students. Recently, however, the direction of SES has shifted its gear away from the test-driven accountability system in the United States (US) and Korea. Based on related literature, official documents, and statistics data, this study investigates major aspects of SES in the US and Korea, suggesting implications for future SES in the two countries. Major findings illustrate; 1) SES both in the US and Korea aim to serve students with underachievement yet place a primary emphasis on academics, 2) the US and Korea show contrasting results of SES in students' academic achievement, 3) the US and Korea use different approaches in selecting SES participants, which is closely related to equality in educational opportunities, 4) the major difference between the US and Korea is the openness of real markets for SES. Based on these findings, this study proposes practical implications for future SES in Korea and the US.

This paper is intended to provide a guideline to improve technical high school teacher education in the College of Industrial Education of Chungnam National University. The thesis consists of three parts, namely, pedagogic education, equalizing difference of basic knowledge due to dual criteria of student entry requirements and employment potentials for graduates. The main conclusions and recommendations are summarized as follows; 1. The portion of pedagogic subjects of the College is rated at 12.5% or 20 credits and was concluded insufficient in comparison of those of foreign colleges. These subjects should be intensified with a balanced education in major subjects taking into account that the entry of the college does not require the pre-experiences in the major fields. 2. In order to produce desirable teachers, it is recommendable to reinforce the general education, especially in the field of psychology. 3. The dual curriculum system was verified not to be so satisfactory for the students from general high schools and technical high schools in equalization of basic knowledge competence. Further and consecutive analysis should be undertaken to secure better education. 4. The number of student enrollment was analyzed to be much larger than the demand scale of technical high school teachers. Therefore counter-measures for surplus supply should be searched for example reduction in enrollment number, supplemental education to transfer surplus graduates into general middle and high school teachers of technical subjects, employment control of graduates from general engineering colleges, etc.
