공간 디자인의 범위와 기능을 확장시킨 디지털화의 진행은 사회 문화 전반에 걸친 변동을 가져온 혁명적인 사건으로 논의되고 있으며 디지털이란 용어는 21세기의 인간 삶의 양식을 특징짓는 사회 문화적 현상으로 자리를 잡아가고 있다. 디지털 기술의 진화가 공간에 어떻게 적용되고 있으며, 어떤 방식으로 디지털 공간을 형성하여 디지털 공간 특성을 규정짓고 있는지를 디지털 기술이 적용된 공간 디자인 사례를 분석하여 새로운 디지털 공간 디자인에 대한 이해와 방향성을 제시하고자 한다. 먼저 사회 문화 환경에 맞춘 디자인 패러다임 변화를 고찰하였고 인간과 기술의 상호관계성을 기반으로 한 디지털 기술이 적용된 공간 디자인 영역의 확장가능성을 공간 개념의 변화를 중심으로 검토하였다. 사례 연구에서는 공간 디자인에 적용된 디지털 기술을 기준으로 디지털 공간 형성방식을 규정하는 디지털 기술의 결합방식 및 소구대상과 디지털 기술에 의해 축소되는 거리감을 평가하도록 하였다. 분석 결과 디지털 공간은 다원화된 경향 속에서 체험에 대한 새로운 공간구성을 추구하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 디지털 미디어의 영향으로 디지털 공간은 공간 체험에 있어 사용자와 미디어, 사용자와 공간, 그리고 미디어를 통한 사용자 간의 역동적인 상호작용을 바탕으로 공간을 완성해 나가는 열린 구조로서의 의미를 가지고 있었다. 이러한 논의를 바탕으로 디지털 공간 디자인의 특성은 첫째 디지털 기술에 기반 한 공간의 수용적 가변성, 둘째 인간과 공간의 상호작용에 의한 영역적 확장성, 셋째 인간과 디지털 기술의 소통방식으로 감성적 직관성으로 특징 지워지고 있으며, 공간 사용자의 라이프스타일을 포용하는 공간으로 발전 가능할 것이다 The progress of digitalization, which has expanded the scope and function of spatial design, is being discussed as a revolutionary event that has brought about changes throughout social culture. And the term digital has taken its place as a social and cultural phenomenon that characterizes the human life style of the 21st century. Through case studies of space designs using digital technology, how the evolution of digital technology is being applied to space, and how it is shaping digital space to define digital space characteristics were researched. And we aim to propose understanding and direction for new digital space design. First, the study considered the social, cultural, environmental changes in design paradigm and the extensibility on range of space design using digital technology based on interrelations between human and technology. In the case studies based on space designs using digital technology, we evaluated the combining method of digital technology that decides the ways of creating digital spaces and the decreased sense of distance between the space and the user. As a result, a digital space tend to seek for creating a new structure within the diversified trend. Digital space, especially under the influence of digital media, had an open structure which is completed by the dynamic interactions between user, media and space. Based on this discussion, the characteristics of digital space designing are; first, receptive variability based on digital technology; second, range expandability based on interactions between human and space; third, emotional immediacy due to digital communication with human. It can be expressed as a design that actively and continuously adapts to the progress in digital technology and the users' change in life style.

르네상스 예술을 통한 현대 공공디자인의 개념적 의미에 대한 연구

역사는 과거의 기록의 의미뿐만 아니라 현재의 위치와 미래의 해법을 찾는데 더 큰 의미를 둘 수 있다. 그런 의미에서 르네상스 시대 예술의 새로운 시도와 관점에 대한 변화가 현대 디자인 사고와 어떠한 연관성이 있는지 그리고, 르네상스 예술의 어떠한 사고들이 현대 디자인에 미래적 방향을 제시할 수 있는가에 대한 고찰은 앞으로 나아갈 미래의 디자인 연구에 중요한 과제이기도 하다. 예술의 역사에 있어서 새로운 문명과 문화의 길을 열어준 중요한 시기인 르네상스 시대의 예술은 크게 세 가지 특징으로 정리할 수 있다. 첫 번째는 인간적인 관점으로 바뀌면서 나타난 인간의 사고와 심상의 표현, 두 번째로는 과학적 고려와 대상에 대한 분석이 바탕이 된 객관적인 예술, 세 번째는 다면적 사고를 통한 예술작품의 종합적 감흥 고려와 다양한 기법의 탄생으로 요약할 수 있다. 이러한 르네상스 시대 예술사상의 특징들은 현대 디자인의 흐름과 비교해 보았을 때 상당한 유사성을 찾을 수 있다. 현재 현대 디자인도 첨단 과학기술과 예술적 만남 속에 인간 공학적인 특징을 지니고 있다. 과학의 발달로 디자인은 점점 스마트해지고 있고, 단순히 디자인의 대상이 아닌 전체를 고려하는 지속가능한 디자인을 추구하고 있다. 또한 내면적인 것에 대한 관심이 증가하면서 감성과 근본적인 가치를 중요하게 여기는 디자인이 주목받고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 위와 같은 르네상스 시대 예술과 현대 디자인의 특징 분석을 바탕으로 유사점을 도출해 낸 후, 이러한 고찰을 현대 공공디자인에 적용시켜 현 디자인의 문제점을 분석하고 앞으로 나아가야할 새로운 방향의 가능성을 모색한다. The significance of history can be found in finding out about the current status as well as the future solution, in addition to recording the past. In this sense, the examination on the type of relation that exists between new attempt and perspective on Renaissance art and modern design consideration, as well as on the types of considerations of Renaissance art that can present future direction for modern design is also an important task in the study of future design. In the history of art, the characteristics of the art during the Renaissance era that is an important period that has opened the door to new civilization and culture can be mainly summarized into three characteristics. The first characteristic is the human thinking and psychology expression revealed from changing human perspective. The second characteristic is the objective art with its foundation on scientific consideration and analysis of the object. The third characteristic is the total interest consideration of artworks through multi-sided thinking and birth of various techniques. When compared with the modern design current, the above characteristics of Renaissance art have significant similarities. Currently, modern design also has the human engineering characteristics in cutting-edge science technology and artistic encounter. Design is becoming more and more smart through the advancement of science, and sustainable design that considers the totality than as the object is being pursued. In addition, the designs with emphasis on emotion and fundamental values are receiving attention at the increase of interest in inward things. Accordingly, similarities will be deduced in this study based on the analysis on Renaissance art and modern design characteristics, and such consideration will be integrated with modern public design to analyze the issues in current design and present possibilities of new future direction.

정체성 위기와 서구 대중문화의 수용 : 타이완과 필리핀의 사례 비교 A Comparison between Taiwan and the Philippines

The purpose of this paper is to compare empirically Taiwan and the Philippines in terms of identity crisis and acceptance pattern of Western(especially American) popular culture. To achieve this goal, the study has proposed historical experience, national identity and cultural policy as independent variables. Also it has suggested acceptance pattern of Western popular culture and cultural transformation as dependent variables. From this basis, the authors have made a special effort to carry social values survey (in February, 1999) among the university students in the two countries. The sample size of each country was 120. It was nearly impossible for the authors to choose the representative sample among the population of two countries. So focusing on the young people who are usually the most sensitive to the influence of Western popular culture in developing Asia, the authors have finally matched Taiwanese students with Philippine students. As a result, the authors could find a significant difference in acceptance pattern of Western popular culture in two countries: assimilation'(in J. W. Berry's acculturation framework) in the case of the Philippines; `integration' in Taiwan.
