        Anti‑inflammation activity of brazilin in TNF‑α induced human psoriasis dermatitis skin model

        Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that causes erythema, scale, and invasion due to excessive proliferation of keratinocyte and vascular deformation of the upper part of the dermis. Recently, it has been reported that brazilin, an active compound of Caesalpinia sappan L., possesses anti-inflammatory activity in mouse macrophage. However, little is known about its effect or anti-inflammatory activity on psoriasis dermatitis. Thus, the objective of this study was to determine anti-inflammatory activity of brazilin in TNF-α-induced human keratinocyte (HaCaT) widely used as a model of psoriatic dermatitis. First, CCK-8 assay was performed to determine cytotoxicity of brazilin in HaCaT cells and cytotoxicity was not observed up to 7 μg/mL concentrations. Brazilin decreased mRNA expression levels of inflammatory cytokines such as IL-1α, IL-1β, IL-6, IL-8 and TNF-α in a concentration dependent manner. Brazilin also significantly reduced phosphorylation of I-κB, Akt, and MAPKs such as ERK, JNK, p38 and STAT3 in immortalized human keratinocytes (HaCaT) induced by TNF-α. In addition, inflammation causes the weakness of the skin barrier structure and increase cell permeability, stimulating serious problems in skin moisturizing. Thus, we observed changes of skin permeability in TNF-α induced inflammatory condition through transepithelial electrical resistance (TEER) assay. While TNF-α induced inflammation caused reduction of TEER value (ohm (Ω) × cm2), it was recovered by treatment with brazilin in a concentration-dependent manner. These results strongly imply that brazilin can reinforce the skin barrier due to its anti-inflammatory activity. Therefore, brazilin could be a promising candidate for treating psoriasis dermatitis.

        Nano-film coatings onto collagen hydrogels with desired drug release

        Hydrogels have been mainly used for biomedical applications owing to their biocompatibility and highwater content. However, they have serious limitations such as poor mechanical stability and fast releaseof the incorporated drug. To overcome these problems, we prepared collagen hydrogel (Col-H) withlayer-by-layer (LbL) self-assembled films (Col-H) to develop multifunctional hydrogel. We prepared LbLfilms using tannic acid and lignin for multi-functional properties. In addition, we incorporateddoxorubicin as a model drug, which is widely used for cancer therapy. Furthermore, the prepared filmsexhibit antibacterial effect against gram-positive and negative bacteria and endure higher compressionstress than bare Col-H.

        Layer-by-layer assembly of multilayer films for controlled drug release

        Drug efficacy has been improved using variousmethods that enhance targeting, decrease toxicity, andfacilitate timely and sustained drug release. To achievethese properties, various drug loading and release platformshave been developed. Layer-by-layer (LbL) self-assemblyis widely used to generate controlled and sustained drugrelease LbL multilayer films because it allows desiredfunctions and structures to be obtained through a simpleprocedure. In this review article, we highlight controlleddrug release from LbL self-assembling films with diverserelease kinetics, particularly with regard to mechanisms ofdrug release.

        ESG 경영이 외식기업 이미지와 구매의도에 미치는 영향

        Purpose – This study examines the impact of ESG management of restaurant companies on the image of restaurant companies and consumers' purchase intention. Through this, we aim to emphasize the importance of ESG activities in restaurant companies and encourage active participation of companies for sustainable growth. Design, data, and methodology –To achieve the research purpose, a web survey was conducted on people aged 20 to 50 who visited restaurant companies that had engaged in ESG activities over the past three months, and the collected data was analyzed using SPSS 25.0. Result – The analysis results are as follows. First, the environment, value chain productivity, and governance have a positive impact on corporate reputation. Second, environment and governance have a positive impact on consumer benefits. Lastly, the image of a restaurant company has a positive effect on purchase intention. Conclusions – These results suggested specific ways for restaurant companies to improve their corporate image by actively utilizing environmental management and governance management among ESG activities. As a result, this study is meaningful in suggesting directions for restaurant companies to more actively pursue ESG management activities through empirical research results.

        PAN계 전극용 탄소 펠트 제조 및 특성 평가

        In this paper, carbon felt was produced by carbonizing and graphitizing Oxi-PAN fiber (oxidized polyacrylonitrile fiber, stabilized fiber) nonwoven fabric. The physical, mechanical and electrical properties of the carbon felt produced in this way were compared with those of commercialized carbon fiber felt for conventional Redox Flow Battery. As the GSM of Oxi-PAN increased, the porosity and pore size decreased. The GSM after carbonization of the prepared Oxi-PAN felt sample was reduced by about 40%, but the differences according to the carbonization and graphitization temperature conditions showed little change in all the basic characteristics except electrical resistivity and tensile characteristics. The specific resistivity was reduced to 1.25 Ω · mm at 2000 ° C compared to about 2.05 Ω · mm at 1000 ° C based on the Oxi-PAN 900 GSM sample. Compared with commercial products, carbon felt made with Oxi-PAN 900 GSM is considered to be the best electrode.

        탄소나노튜브가 첨가된 탄소섬유 부직포로 강화된 에폭시 복합재료의 전기적, 기계적 특성

        Carbon nanotube (CNT) materials have excellent mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties that make them interesting for their potential applications in the electronics and aerospace industries. In particular, carbon nanotube paper (CNP)/polymer composites are potential candidates for lightweight multi-functional structural materials with high mechanical performances. CNP can be fabricated by filtering aqueous suspensions of CNT. We confirm that carbon aqueous dispersion can be manufactured using ultrasonication. Our results showed dramatic improvements in electrical conductivity with a percolation threshold ~0.2% of CNT. By significantly improving the dispersion of CNT, we showed that only a very small amount of CNTs were needed to achieve the conductivity levels required for different electrical applications. In addition, we demonstrated that the aqueous dispersion of carbon fiber (CF) could be achieved using an ozone treatment; we also determined that CNT/CF paper could be fabricated by the wet laying of mixed CNT/CF aqueous dispersion as well. CNT/CF papers were embedded in epoxy resin by a resin infusion process to realize CNT/Epoxy composites. We also addressed the electrical conductivity measurements of CNT/CF paper as well as the mechanical properties of the paper and their polymer composites.

        프로골프선수들의 심상 형성 과정에 관한 근거이론적 접근

        This study attempted to understand the imagery formation process of professional golf players. Accordingly, the purpose of this is to explore in-depth the opportunity for imagery formation, the main conditions for forming the imagery, and the result of the imagery formation. The research procedure consisted of 8 professional golf players in the first part and 8 professional golf players in the second part, and a total of 16 professional golf players were interviewed in-depth. The data analysis was categorized into three stages of Strauss & Corbin's (1998) grounded theory method: open coding, axis coding, and selective coding to explain the phenomenon. Based on the results of this study, the process of image formation of professional golf players was in-depth searched to find the trigger for imagery formation, the main conditions for imagery formation, and the result of imagery formation. Through this, it is possible to understand the importance of images to instructors and golf players, and to provide clues that can form appropriate imagery according to the purpose of using imagery, the significance of this study.
