The Sadang corridor is one of the major corridors to reach Seoul from Suwon, Gwacheon, Anyang, Uiwang, and Hwaseong cities. The traffic volumes are 208,740 vehicles, 166,517 train users, and 54,807 bus users. After the Gangnam Beltway was opened on July 3rd 2016, many cars entered from the Sadang Exit and weaved into the main road. So the average bus travel time from Namtaeryeong to Sadang station increased from 3.4 minutes to 7.6 minutes. The purpose of this study is to improve the public transportation service of the Sadang corridor. There are several ways to do this. First, median bus lane from the Sadang station to Namtaeryeong should continue onto the Gwanmun Tunnel of Gwacheon city. Secondly, some of the intercity buses coming from Suwon, Uiwang, and Hwaseong should turn around at the Seonbawi station instead of Sadang in order to disperse the transportation demand at Sadang station. Thirdly, the bus stop at Uiwang Tollgate should carry on to make intercity bus shuttle services between Uiwang Tollgate and Sadang or Seonbawi station. Fourthly, the transfer system at Indeogwon station of Indeokwon-Dongtan line, planned to be finished until 2026, should be designed well so that the transferring time is shortened, and that the passengers who used to use Metro buses can easily use rails. Finally, the project to build the Sadang Transfer Center should kick off right away as the Sadang bus stop is the most crowded bus stop in Korea.
