Low frequency (400 kHz) Ferrite ICP has been proposed for large area processing. Because the coupling coefficient is close to 1, the transformer matching can be adapted to Ferrite ICP. The transformer matching system is simple. In this paper the new matching system by controlling the turns of transformer using relays is proposed for impedance matching. We developed a simple matching system and characterized it when the turns were changed. It was observed that the 2-channel relay is available for transformer matching.

N/A Objectives: Hepatitis B virus infection of peripheral blood mononuclear cells has been observed in hepatitis B virus-associated liver disease. We have analyzed 18 chronic HBsAg carriers to investigate the presence of hepatitis B virus in peripheral blood mononuclear cells. Methods: Hepatitis B virus DNA was detected in peripheral blood mononuclear cells by southern blot hybridization and polymerase chain reaction. Southern blots of polymerase chain reaction products were hybridized with cloned hepatitis B virus DNA. Peripheral blood mononucldar cells from carriers were cultured for 48 to 96 hours with or without lipopolysaccharide. Hepatitis B virus DNA was detected in the serum by dot blot and polymerase chain reaction. Results: Southern blot analysis of peripheral blood mononuclear cell DNA showed a faint 3.2 kb full genomic hepatitis B virus DNA in only 1 of 18 carriers studied, even though the sensitivity of our method enabled us to detect as little as 1 pg of cloned hepatitis B virus DNA. Hepatitis B virus DNA in peripheral blood mononuclear cells was detected by polymerase chain reaction in 11 of 12 carriers who were positive for serum hepatitis B virus DNA by dot blot, in 1 of 3 carriers who were negative and positive for serum Hepatitis B virus DNA by dot blot and polymerase chain reaction, respectively. Hepatitis B virus DNA in peripheral blood mononuclear cells was detected in 2 of 3 carriers even without serum hepatitis B virus DNA. In the presence of lipopolysaccharide, the signal derived from the DNA extracted from stimulated peripheral blood mononuclear cells increased. In 2 of 4 carriers in whom hepatitis B virus DNA was absent in unstimulated peripheral blood mononuclear cells, Hepatitis B virus DNA was identified in lipopolysaccharide stimulated peripheral blood mononuclear cells. Thus, 88.8% (16/18) of chronic HBsAg carriers were found to have hepatitis B virus DNA in peripheral blood mononuclear cells. Conclusion: 1) Hepatitis B virus infection of peripheral blood mononuclear cells occurs at very low levels in the majority of chronic HBsAg carriers 2) Hepatitis B virus replication may be stimulated by lipopolysaccharide.
소형 풍력 발전기의 발전 효율 향상을 위한 마그네틱 베어링 개발

본 논문에서는 영구자석을 이용하여 내륜과 외륜이 부상된 형태의 마그네틱 베어링을 설계하고, 시제품을 제작하여 마그네틱 베어링의 성능을 평가하였다. 설계된 마그네틱 베어링을 자체 제작한 소형 풍력 발전 시스템에 적용하여 마그네틱 베어링의 성능을 평가하였으며, 기계식 베어링을 이용한 소형 풍력 발전 시스템의 발전 성능과 비교하여 그 우수성을 증명하였다. 최대 풍속 5.5m/s에서 600rpm으로 축이 회전하여 10V 전압의 출력을 확인하였으며, 기계적 베어링을 사용한 경우 대비 대략 최대 2.5배 많은 전압이 출력되는 것을 확인하였다. 마그네틱 베어링은 소형 풍력 발전 시스템에서 마찰에 의한 에너지 손실을 최소화시켜 높은 발전 효율을 구현할 수 있을 것으로 기대되며, 뿐만 아니라 다양한 기계시스템에 적용되어 마찰에 의한 에너지 손실을 최소화할 것으로 기대된다. In this design, we developed a magnetic bearing with permanent magnets targeting to improve the electricity generation efficiency of a small wind turbine. The small wind turbine with two magnetic bearings yielded the output voltage of 10 V with a maximum wind speed of 5.5 m/s tested in the experiments, which was verified about 2.5 times higher than the output voltage when using mechanical ball bearings. It is expected that the developed magnetic bearing will reduce energy loss and improve the energy generation efficiency of a small wind turbine as well as can be utilized in various mechanical systems with minimizing energy loss.

Appendiceal mucocele is a descriptive term for an abnormal mucous accumulation distending the appendiceal lumen regardless the underlying cause. The incidence of mucocele in appendectomy specimens and autopsy series is about 0.25Z Its diagnosis has usually been made at laparotomy for a suspected appendicitis or incidentally during abdominal exploraton for another reason, and the preoperative diagnosis based on its signs, symtoms or conventional examinations is very rare. Recently, some reports announced the advent of ultrasonography and CT scan for making preoper- ative diagnosis of appendiceal mucocele. So we report a case of appendiceal mucocele with the preoperative diagnosis due to its characteristic ultrasonographic features.

Although pancreatic pseuclocyst as a sequale to panceatitis or pancreatic injury can occur at a any site in the abdomen, intrahepatic pancreatic pseudocyst is a rare event. With mordern imaging procedures, its detection seems to be increasing, but with our knowledge about 10 reports in English literature published in the past 15 years. Recently, we experienced a case of pancreatic pseudocysts involving left lobe of the liver in a 45 year-old man presenting with epigastric pain. He was diagnosed with abdominal ultrasonography, abdominal computed tomography (CT) and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and confinned by exploration. So we report this case with a review cf literatures.

N/A To assess the contribution of hepatitis C virus (HCV) in liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma, antibody to HCV (anti-HCV) was studied by enzyme immunoassay in 87 patients with liver cirrhosis and 49 patients with hepatocellular carcinoma and 100 healthy controls. Anti-HCV was detected in 12.2% and 10.3%. of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma and liver cirrhosis, respectively. No significant difference in the prevalence of anti-HCV was found between these two groups. Of the 100 healthy controls, none were anti-HCV positive. HBsAg was detected in 67.3% and 55.1% of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma and liver cirrhosis, respectively, and 4% of healthy controls. Anti-HCV was detected in 1 of 33 (3%) HBsAg-positive patients with hepatocellular carcinoma and 5 of 16 (31.2%) HBsAg-negative patients with hepatocellular carcinoma. In liver cerrhosis, Anti-HCV was detected in 3 of 48 (6.2%) HBsAg-positive patients and 6 of 39 (15.3%) HBsAg-negitive patients. 38%.of patients with liver cirrhosis and 22% of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma were negative for both anti-HCV and HBsAg. In conclusion, hepatitis B virus appears to be a more important cause of hepatocellular carcinoma than HCV. But HCV may have a role in the development of hepatocellular carcinoma in some HBsAg-negative patients.

N/A Hepatitis C virus is a positive stranded RNA virus which replicates through a negative stranded RNA. To study the role of hepatitis C virus in non-A, non-B chronic hepatitis, serum samples were tested for detection of genomic hepatitis C virus RNA and negative stranded RNA. from 30 patients with non-A, non-B chronic hepatitis using a combination assay of reverse transcription and polymerase chain reaction. Hepatitis C, virus RNA was detected in 28 of 30 patients with non-A, non-B chronic hepatitis. Of these patients, the RNA was detected in 24 of 25 patients positive for antibody to hepatitis C virus and also in 4 of 5 patients negative for antibody to hepatitis C virus. The negative strand was detected in 10 of 30 patients. Of these patients, the negative strand was detected in 9 of 25 patients positive for antibody to hepatitis C virus and in 1 of 5 patients negative for antibody to hepatitis C virus. The presence of the negative strand in serum was not associated with higher serum transaminase levels. These results show that most patients with non-A, non-B chronic hepatitis are infected with hepatitis C virus in Korea, regardless of the presence or absence of antibody to hepatitis C virus.
