MLI(Multi-Layer Insulation) is widely used to get highly insulating efficiency on cryogenic system in order to reduce heat loads. In this study, The heat loads from the environment for an annular cylinder cryostat such as HTS(High Temperature Superconducting) power cable system were measured by liquid nitrogen boil-off calorimetry for investigating the thermal characteristics on MLI. The cryostat consists of test vessel and two guard vessels which located at both end sides of test vessel. In order to prevent radiation heat load through the both end sides of the test vessel, the guard vessels are filled with liquid nitrogen. The measured heat loads are compared with the calculated them.

A conduction-cooled superconducting magnet system is developed for material separation. The superconducting magnet for material separation has to be designed to have a strong magnetic field in a control volume. Since the magnetic field gradient is larger at the end rather than at the center of the magnet, we developed a design method to optimize the superconducting magnet for material separation. The safety of the superconducting magnet is evaluated, taking into account the electro-magnetic field, heat and structure. The superconducting coil is successfully wound by the wet-winding method. The superconducting coil is installed in a cryostat maintaining high vacuum, and cooled down to approximately 4 K by a two-stage GM cryocooler. The performance of the conduction-cooled superconducting magnet system is discussed with respect to the supplied current, cooling medium and cooling power of a cryocooler.
고온초전도 케이블용 의 단열조건에 cryostat 대한 열침입량 측정

Insulating a heat from the environment is the most important in cryogenic applications like HTS cable system. Vacuum and MLI(Multi-Layer Insulation) have been widely used to get highly efficient cryogenic insulation. In this study, experiment on annular cylinder regarded as basic model of HTS cable cryostat has been performed to measure the heat loads. To investigate the effectiveness of radiation shields in cryogenic insulation system, the experiments are carried out to various number of the shields. The measured values are compared with the results estimated theoretically. The heat loads invaded from the environment was determined by liquid nitrogen boil-off calorimetry.
