This case describes key development challenges and patterns as experienced by Internet Auction Company, Ltd. from the startup stage through IPO to the sale to eBay. In 1997, Mr. Hyuk Oh saw a business opportunity in the Internet allowing two-way communications. Around that time, the success stones of eBay and Onsale in the United States were good stimuli to his startup of an auction site. He opened the Website in April 1, 1998 after four months of development efforts. While experiencing financial difficulties due to the lack of initial acceptance of Internet auction, Mr. Oh finally succeeded in raising 2 billion wons from Will-bes Company. By May 2000, Internet Auction Co. had 950,000 registered members, and reached the average rate of 185,000 transactions per day. Currently an eBay company, Internet Auction Co. continues to pursue new auction systems and substitute distribution systems for the future with a renewed entrepreneurial spirit.
중소기업의 내부역량이 혁신성과에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

The purpose of this study is to examine the moderating effect of Inovation performance on external network. This study considered the limitation of previous study and the help to the company. This study built a exploratory model that there is causal relationship of internal competence to enterprise innovation performance. Additionally this study examine the moderating effect of external network on the effect of corporation innovation performance. The study targeted 205 small-and medium-sized firms. The study showed following results. First, the findings of there search indicated that there was a significant positive relationship between R&D capability and innovative performance and also showed the existence of significant positive relationship between commercialization capability and innovative performance. R&D capability and technology commercialization capability, suggesting that these factors are crucial factors for corporate performance. Many existing researches only considered R&D intensity in terms of the relationship between R&D and performance, but this study found that learning and external networking also influence innovation performance. Second, external networks were high, the relationships between R&D and Marketing performance were highly related. The implication of these results to the company, the limitation of this study and the direction of future study were suggested. 급변하는 글로벌 경쟁체제하에서 기업 외부의 다양한 네트워크 연계를 통한 개방형혁신 활동을 통해 기술혁신 가치를 제고하는 기업들이 늘어나고 있다. 본 연구에서는 중소기업의 내부역량 (R&D 역량, 사업화역량, 최고경영자 특성)이 혁신성과(제품혁신, 마케팅혁신)에 어떠한 영향을 주는가를 공정혁신성과를 매개변수로, 또 외부네트워크를 조절변수로 하여 그 영향을 살펴보고자 하였다. 연구결과를 통해 중소 제조기업들의 생산제품의 품질향상 및 시장개척, 생산시스템 변화, 연구개발 역량강화를 위한 내부역량의 전략적 활용을 제시하고 있다.
