The effect of micros tructural and tempering temperature change on ΔK_th has been investigated at room temperature and 300℃ For the experiments, using SM4OC steel, specimens of different grain sizes, spacings between ΔK_th particles and tempering temperatures were prepared. Some of the conclusions obtained are as follows ; 1. ΔK_th values were greater at 300℃ when compared with those at room temperature and the crack growth rate decreased as test temperature increased. 2. ΔK_th was observed to increase with tempering temperature. However, ΔK_th value of 450℃ tempered specimen was very low, which is believed to be the result of Tempered Martensite Embrittlement(T.M.E.).

Engineering plastics have applied to mechanical components and structures due to a sufficient mechanical, thermal characteristics and impact-absorptive properties. In order to assure the safety of mechanical components included engineering plastics such as the polyacetal, it is important to estimate the probabilistic strain-life (P-ε-N) curve considering the variation of fatigue characteristics. The fatigue strain controlled tests were conducted under constant 50% humidity and 23℃ condition by a universal testing machine at strain ratio, R=0. In this study, a practical procedure is introduced to determine and evaluate P-ε-N curves. The variation of fatigue properties in the polyacetal was found to be normal distribution using χ² and K-S test, when the probability distributions of a fatigue life were examined by a strain-life method.

In this study, in order to perform more efficiently reliability design and integrity assessment of structural members, the relational database management program on the engineering plastics was constructed. This program contained 476 grades for 14 kinds of the engineering plastics and was developed using MS-access and MS-visualbasic. This program consists of 3 modules; search condition, probabilistic characteristics of material property, evaluation of P-S-N curve. We perform fatigue test for probabilistic durability analysis and this results input the database program to estimate P-S-N.

To reduce the cost and the time of transport in Eurasian railroad networks such as TKR, TCR and TSR owing to the problem of different track gauges (narrow/standard/broad gauge), it is important to develop the gauge - adjustable wheel set system to adapt easily to these gauges. Moreover, This system accomplish a conversion operation periodically from the gauge variable segment between Various gauge. gauge variable pressure coil spring from conversion process accomplish a central role repetitively for operation mechanism between flange and locking part. Therefore, to assure the safety of the gauge-adjustment wheelset system, it is necessary to fatigue life evaluate of coil spring in the system using stress analysis. it was performed to evaluate stability of running track with UIC 510-4code. Fatigue life of the gauge - adjustable compression spring with the variation of the fatigue strength was evaluated by fatigue life analysis simulator
