Objective: The use of a high flow nasal cannula (HFNC) might cover the gap between conventional oxygen therapy and mechanical ventilation in the management of acute respiratory failure patients and could be a significant factor in determining patient outcomes. Early predictors of HFNC failure may help a clinician decide whether to shift the patient to a mechanical ventilator. We aimed at identifying the predictors associated with HFNC failure and the application of a mechanical ventilator using arterial blood gas analysis (ABGA). Methods: We retrospectively analyzed patients who were admitted to the emergency room at a single center with respiratory distress and a PaO2/FiO2 ratio (ratio of arterial partial pressure of oxygen to fraction of inspired oxygen) of less than 300. Comparing keeping and weaning HFNC groups with the escalation group, we sought to identify a few discriminating factors. Initial ABGA was done when the patients entered the emergency room and this was followed up within 2 hours after HFNC therapy. Results: Two hundred and eighteen patients were enrolled and of these HFNC therapy succeeded in 153 and failed in 65. At baseline Glasgow Coma Scale, follow-up (F/U) pH, ΔpH, and F/U respiratory rate-oxygenation index were lower and pro-brain natriuretic peptide, initial lactate, F/U lactate, ΔPCO2, heart rate, acidosis, consciousness, oxygenation, respiratory rate score, Acute Physiology And Chronic Health Evaluation score, Simplified Acute Physiology Score, and Sequential Organ Failure Assessment score were significantly higher in the HFNC failure group. The results of the multivariate analysis indicated that initial lactate (odds ratio [OR], 1.215; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.081-1.366; P=0.001) and ΔpH (OR, 0.000; 95% CI, 0.000-0.018; P<0.001) were independently associated with the prediction of application of the mechanical ventilator. Conclusion: Patients who had higher initial lactate levels and insufficiently corrected pH after HFNC therapy may need to be monitored carefully and escalation of oxygen therapy may need to be considered.

Symbols composed of pictograph, geometric shapes and letters are used for information representation of public service and machine systems as a man-machine interface. Especially, various symbols and where are used to indicate operation and condition on OPB and hall button of elevators, however, standardization of symbolic displays and color redundancy have been less examined. Therefore the studies about symbolic design with human's sensitivity and population stereotypes of colors are required. This study confirmed population stereotypes of color about operation and condition on elevators and suggested symbol types, colors and optimal coding symbols with each concept through preference examination and the searching performance experiments of symbol types used on present and new created symbols
사이버 가정학습이 학습부진아의 수학 문제해결 능력에 미치는 효과

본 연구는 사이버가정학습 활동이 학습부진아의 수학 문제해결 능력에 미치는 효과를 알아보기 위한 단일대상 실험 연구로써, 연구대상은 초등학교 6학년에 재학중인 수학 학습부진아 3명을 선정하였으며, 본 연구에 사용된 사이버가정학습 프로그램은 초등학교 3학년~4학년의 학생들의 수준으로 경상북도 교육연구원에서 운영하고 있는 프로그램으로, 학습안내, 본 학습, 평가, 분기, 학습정리의 5단계로 구성되어 있는 내용을 차시별로 학습 후 활동으로 'Off line 평가하기'를 추가하여 6단계로 재구성하였다. 실험기간은 주 3회 7주간 20회기에 걸쳐 실험을 하였으며, 연구 문제별로 10문항씩 총 30문항으로 사전,사후 동형문제롤 비교하였다. 자료처리는 SPSS 12.0으로 대응표본 t-검증을 하였다. 결론은 첫째, 사이버가정학습 활동은 학습부진아의 수 개념 능력 향상에 효과적이다. 둘째, 사이버가정학습 활동은 학습부진아의 연산 능력 향상에 효과적이다. 셋째, 사이버가정학습 활동은 학습부진아의 수학 문장제 문제해결능력 향상에 효과적이다.
초등학교 학습장애 학생의 수 개념 향상을 위한 웹 코스웨어 개발

Pupils with learning impediments in elementary schools have difficulties in learning numerical calculations. Numerical concepts, the basis of numerical calculations, require repetitious exercises, and it has been widely reported that computer-mediated learning motivates the learners to concentrate on their learning for longer hours. The aim of the research is to develop and apply a Web-based courseware to experimental groups to improve learning numerical concepts of the learners with learning difficulties in elementary school and to discuss the effects of the results. The courseware is designed to improve the numerical concepts of the learners through many thought activities. The experiment shows effectiveness of the learning activities to improve learning numerical concepts for students with learning difficulties, categorized into two groups - an experimental group and a control group, and also it shows positive responses on improvement of their calculation ability.

This study was to explore the effects on peer interaction of autistic students in woodwork activities with nonhandicapped peer. The main conclusions from the study were as follows: First, woodwork activities with nonhandicapped students are increased in interaction rate of autistic students. Second, woodwork activities with nonhandicapped students are increased in interactional duration of autistic students.
