김환태의 일본 구주대학(九州大學) 졸업논문의 월터 페이터 연구의 번역문과 주석

        장도준 ( Do Joon Jang ) 대구가톨릭대학교 인문과학연구소 2015 인문과학연구 Vol.0 No.24

Kim Hwan Tae was 1930’s literary critic of Korea. He majored in English Literature at the Kyushu Imperial University. He began to formulate his views on literature and literary criticism through university life. His graduation thesis, “Matthew Arnold and Walter Pater as Literary Critics” leaves unsolved the ambiguity of why he chose such a topic for research. However, it is a well-known fact that the Japanese literary world of the nineteen thirties was influenced greatly by western literary movements, and it is clear that his literary and critical theory was formulated as a direct result of his research of Arnold and Pater, his literary disposition, and 1930’ literary situation. Kim Hwan Tae emphasized the following three point for the Pater’s Criticism. First, It is the aim of all true criticism ‘to see the object as in itself it really is’, special impression of beauty or pleasure. Second, He emphasized Impressionism and Creative criticism. Third He emphasized the love of art for its own sake. This study is the translation and some notes of critical theory of Walter Pater in the Kim Hwan-Tae’s graduation thesis of Ku Ju Imperial University.

초등학교 교과서 수록 동시의 화자의 특성과 문제점에 관한 연구

        장도준(Jang Do-joon) 한국어문학회 2008 語文學 Vol.0 No.102

This study divided the speakers of elementary school children's poetry into two groups: the visible speaker and the invisible speaker. The visible speaker was further divided into three subgroups: the invented "I" speaker, the personal "I" speaker, and the public voice. The invisible speaker was further divided into two subgroups: the invisible poet's sight and the poet's objective sight. 'The invented "I" speaker' is the manner of adult poet masking himself with person of children and with their tongue. But in many children's poet of elementary school reading text, not only children's point of view but also voice of adults exists, hides within these texts. Because moral lesson is intended, when the voices of adults hides behind the child character, it threatens the identity and might make the character look like acting older than his years. and also shows that this has a limit of taking surroundings of children, such as toys, plants and animals, out of the picture. As for 'the personal "I" speaker', even though it is a children's poetry it's limit pointed out for the exclusion of the children's point of view. The public voice "we" speaks for a group of believers of participants in a common situation. Therefore the plurality of our culture makes "we" a difficult choice. Because these types of speakers are commonly selected, therefore it has intention of enlightenment and moral lessons, poetic speaker's appeals could get weak. 'The invisible poet's sight' is a fonn that can be easily placed on boundary between adult poetry and children's poetry. Therefore, In case of writing these poetries in texts as children's poetries, it requires aesthetic judb'TTlent of reader response and patience. Objective point of view is a case of which almost eliminates 'the invisible speaker' and by eliminating even the situation of 'the invisible speaker', on the contrary, it helps readers with expansion of appreciation. By this, it contributes on expanding suggestiveness and reader's imagination.

Third, He asserted that poetry is at bottom a criticism of life; that the greatness of a poet lies in his powerful and beautiful application of ideas to life, -to the question: How to live.’

일반논문 : 김유정의『동백꽃』의 갈등과 소통의 문제

김은정 ( Eun Jeong Kim ),장도준 ( Do Joon Jang ) 대구가톨릭대학교 인문과학연구소 2011 인문과학연구 Vol.0 No.16

Kim Yu Jeong`s "Dongbaekggo" was analyzed for this study. In particular the love relationship between the boy and Jeomsun was analyzed. The boy who was from a poor family, and the girl, Jeomsun, who was born with a silver spoon in her mouth, had problems with communication during her time of slumming; the problems were dealt with very humorously in "Dongbaekggo." "Dongbaekggo" structural and content studies, which have focused on the difficult relationship between the boy and Jeomsun, have mainly focused on the class contradictions. Therefore, this study will focus on the problems and reconciliations, and the failures and successes which come with such a situation. The background is an old, rural village, and those who are involved in the unfolding of the romance between a boy and a girl help bring laughter during the time of the love tug-o-war, which makes everything feel more beautiful. In "Dongbaekggo," the extroverted, aggressive, and strong minded Jeomsun`s own love is represented through the potato and the cockfighting (both signifiers), and through those actions Jeomsun wants to reach the boy, who is a sharecropper`s son. Symbolically, Jeomsun is aggressive with the potato (signifier) and the warm feelings (the signified). However, the boy can`t quite grasp and misreads the true meaning of the signifier and the signified. Jeomsun aggressively pulls the boy`s attention through the chicken (signifier). Even though the chicken is a signifier of Jeomsun`s own opinions, to the boy, because of the value he puts on life, problems appear more quickly. The problems between the clever and active young girl and the simple and honest adolescent boy progress throughout "Dongbaekggo" to a more exciting climax. The communication between Jeomsun and the boy becomes more ironically fun in the story, and help maximize the fun as the accomplishment of the love approaches. In the end, "Dongbaekggo" the pure love between the boy and Jeomsun bring about many conflicts, which help achieve the fulfillment of the love as the resolution of the story progresses.
