Objectives: The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of food intake on radial pulse amplitude. Methods: Thirty one healthy male subjects participated in this study. Radial pulse was measured using 3 dimensional pulse imaging system (DMP-3000) before, right after, 40 minutes after, 80 minutes after and 120 minutes after food intake. Results: 1. The amplitude of h1 increased significantly right after food intake compared to ``before food intake`` at all 6 measuring points. Later on, it decreased back as time passed, however, even 120 minutes later, it was still higher than ``before food intake`` 2. Pulse energy, which is calculated from pulse waves acquired with five sensors, increased after food intake as well. Conclusions: Food intake exerts an influence on radial pulse amplitude, resulting in increase of h1 and pulse energy.
음곡에 시술한 구맥 약침이 LPS로 유도된 흰쥐의 신장염에 미치는 영향

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of Dianthi Semen Herba herbal-acupuncture (DS-HA) at KI10 (Umgok) on nephritis induced by LPS in rat. Methods: Rats were injected with LPS and treated with DS-HA at KI10 3 times for a week(DS-HA), N.P. group was treated 26 gauge needle at KI10, saline group was treated with normal saline at KI10. To estimate the effects of DS-HA at KI10 on nephritis in rats, WBC, neutrophils in blood, BUN, creatinine TNF-α, CINC-1 in serum, urinal volume and creatinean and total protein in urine, reanl TNF-α, renal MPO were measured and histological analysis of renal tissue was performed. Results: DS-HA at KI10 significantly decreased WBC and neutrophil in blood and BUN and creatinin in serum, MPO in kidney, and significantly increased urinary volume in LPS-stimulated rats. DS-HA at KI10 reduced accumulation of neutrophil in renal tissue of LPS-stimulated rats. Conclusions: Taken together, DS-HA at KI10 has a protective or therapeutic effect for nephritis in LPS-stimulated rat. Therefore, it is suggested that DS-HA at KI10 may be an useful therapeutics in clinical field after further researches.

As national income increases, consumers began to place a great deal of weight on products or quality of their life. They would like to have products which are more convenient to use and could meet their emotional desire in addition to its basic functional requirements. An automobile is one of the transportation system for human beings and the factor such as safety or environmentaly-friendly is regarded as important things resulting from it's popularization. In fact, domestic design technology leaves much to be desired compared with excellent manufacturing techniques. For this reason, some problems, like lowering of usage, could be caused by introducing technological data as it is from overseas. A survey of domestic car users has found that the most preferred condition (step height) is 460~495cm when they get in and out of their car. Men use their visual information and then get in the car, taking motion fit for each condition when automobile condition is changed. In other words, men get in cars actively within the range of conditions used for this study. These results were found from a motion study, when getting in a car, and checking the possibility of getting injury in accordance with the change of condition as well.
양릉천(陽陵泉) 우슬(牛膝) 약침이 흰쥐의 고지혈증에 미치는 영향

Objective & Methods: The purpose of this study is to observe the effects of herbal- acupuncture with Achyranthis Radix(AR-HA) at GB34(Yangleungchean) on hyperlipidemia in rats. The author performed several experimental items to analyze the levels of various components and enzymes in serum and liver, as well as the histological changes of liver and aorta. Results: 1. Achyranthis Radix herbal acupuncture solution increased DPPH radical scavenging activity and HMG-CoA reductase inhibition rate in rat liver cells. 2. AR-HA at GB34 decreased the level of serum total cholesterol, and increased the ratios of HDL-cholesterol to total cholesterol, phospholipid to total cholesterol in hyperlipidemic rat. 3. AR-HA at GB34 decreased the hepatic HMG-CoA reductase activity in hyperlipidemic rat. 4. AR-HA at GB34 increased the hepatic GSH level in hyperlipidemic rat. Conclusion: From the above results, it is suggested that AR-HA at GB34 has a therapeutic effect on hyperlipidemia.
CCl(4)로 유도된 흰쥐의 간기능 손상에 대한 좌우 양릉천(陽陵泉)전침 효과 비교 연구

Objectives: To compare the effects of Low-frequency electro-acupuncture (EA) stimulation at Left and right GB34s on hepatotoxicity in CCl4-intoxicated rats. Methods: Rats were injected with CCl4 and treated with 2 Hz electro-acupuncture (EA) at Left and right GB34s for 15 minutes 3 times per week, for 10 weeks. Holder group, injected with CCl4 and strained in a cylinder for same period as the EA group, was established to compare the hepatotoxicity against the two electroacupuncture groups. To estimate the effects of EA on hepatotoxicity in rats, body weight, Liver weight and Liver index were measured. Biochemical assays for serum ALT, AST, ALP and total cholesterol ; hematological analysis for RBC, WBC, PLT, hemoglobin, Lymphocytes, neutrophils and monocytes ; and histology analysis of Liver tissue were also performed. Results: Lymphocyte Level in blood was significantly decreased by CCl4-intoxication, and increased by Low-frequency electroacupuncture applied on both Left and right GB34s. Low-frequency EA applied on right and Left GB34s significantly reduced serum ALT and AST, both of which had been increased by CCl4-intoxication. Conclusion: Low-frequency electroacupunctures at both Left and right GB34s have hepatoprotective effects on CCl4-induced Liver damage in rats. However, no significant differences were found between the effects of EAs at Left and right GB34s.
3차원 로봇 맥 영상 분석기의 5단계 가압 맥파 분석에 의한 고혈압 환자의 현맥(弦脈) 연구

Objectives: The purpose of this study is to gain the objective indicators for the classification of hypertension by oriental medical pulse diagnosis, through finding out the parameters which can distinguish the pulse of hypertensive patient from that of normal subject, and characterizes the wiry pulse of hypertension. Methods: 30-59 yr, male, 946 healthy volunteers and 35 hypertensive patients were enrolled in this study. All the hypertensive patients were taking medicine to control the blood pressure and the blood pressure of the hypertension group was not statistically different from that of the normal healthy group. Data were acquired using 3 dimensional pulse imaging analyser(DMP-3000, DAEYOMEDI, KOREA) and analysed according to the age bands and the applied pressure levels. Results: 1. RAI/t, w/t and t2/t decreased with the levels of applied pressure and increased with age in the normal healthy group, not in the hypertension group. 2. RAI/t, w/t, t2/t were significantly higher in the hypertension group than the normal healthy group in the 30-age band, and elasticity coefficient was higher in the hypertension group than the normal healthy group in the 40-age band. 3. Researches on the patients without hypotensive agents are needed to figure out whether these parameters are the components of hypertensive wiry pulse. Conclusions: Analysing the radial pulse at 5 applied pressure levels using 3 dimensional pulse imaging analyser may be useful to differentiate the pulses of the hypertensive patients from those of the normal subjects, and characterize the hypertension.
