Community structure and species composition of fish in the mouth of Yeoja bay were investigated using samples collected by a small otter trwal in March and August, 2019. A total of 3,198 fishes were sampled and classified into 38 species, 27 families, and 9 orders. The dominant species was Pennahia argentata (505 individuals, 15.8%), Ilisha elongata (234 individuals, 7.3%), and Engraulis japonicus (222 individuals, 6.9%). The highest number of individuals was found in St. 2 (1,516 individuals), while the lowest number of individuals was found in St. 3 (663 individuals). The richness index was the highest in St. 2 (RI=3.69) and the lowest in St. 3 (RI=3.39). The evenness index was the highest in St. 3 (E=0.91) and the lowest in St. 2 (E=0.86). The diversity index was the highest in St. 1 (H’=2.96) and the lowest in St. 2 (H’=2.85). The dominance index was the highest in St. 2 (D=31.4%) and the lowest in St. 1 (D=23.2%).

Droughts can alter the dynamics of aquatic ecosystems, including fish communities. This study compared the varia-tions in fish communities in Juam reservoir before and after drought events. Fish sampling was conducted five times from April 2021 to April 2023 using three different sampling methods (kick net, cast net, and gill net). The water level in the reservoir reached its peak (103.73 EL.m, 62.2% capacity) in September 2021, before the drought, and dropped to its lowest point (88.84 EL.m, 17.6% capacity) in April 2023. The dissolved oxygen content in the reser-voir decreased from 27 to 6.3 mg/L between the period with the lowest water level (April 2023) and the period with the highest water level (September 2021). In September 2021, 466 fish were collected, but after one year of drought, the number of individuals decreased to 105. Further, the number of fish collected and water levels were positively correlated. Dominant species exhibited a population decline of over 60% with decreasing water levels. These findings highlight the importance of fishery resource management during drought periods.

Fluctuations in the abundance and species composition of fishes in the coastal waters of Geumo-do, Yeosu, Jeollanam-do, Korea were investigated from 2002 to 2005. A gill net with entrances on both sides was used to collect a total of 469 individuals (55,180 g) of 3 orders, 18 families, and 28 species. The dominant species was Sebastes inermis (60 individuals, 5,670 g), followed by Neoditrema ransonneti (46 individuals, 2,290 g), and Pseudaesopia japonica (38 individuals, 3,080 g). The highest number of individuals was found in 2004, while the biomass was highest in 2005. The diversity index was highest in 2004 (H'=2.703) and lowest in 2002 (H'=2.580). The dominance index was highest in 2004 (D=3.983) and lowest in 2002 (D=3.404). The richness index was highest in 2003 (RI=0.337) and lowest in 2002 (RI=0.261). Changes in temperature and salinity affected the community structure and the location of spawning grounds. The number of individuals and total biomass increased with changes in temperature and salinity each year.

Fluctuation in the abundance and species composition of fishes in the coastal waters of Heuksan-do, Shinan, Jeollanam-do, Korea were investigated from 2013 to 2015. A total of 2,044 fishes were sampled and classified into 94 species, 56 families, and 15 orders. The dominant species was Engraulis japonicus (217 individuals, 1,918 g), followed by Leiognathus nuchalis (198 individuals, 3,016 g), and Coilia nasus (121 individuals, 2,129 g). The highest number of individuals was found in 2013, while the biomass was the highest in 2015. The diversity index was the highest in 2013 (Hʹ=3.692) and the lowest in 2015 (Hʹ=3.561). The dominance index was the highest in 2015 (D=0.312) and the lowest in 2013 (D=0.220). The richness index was the highest in 2014 (RI=12.440) and the lowest in 2015 (RI=11.050). The economically important species in this area are Okamejei kenojei, Beringraja pulchra, Conger myriaster, Coelorinchus multispinulosus, Lophiomus setigerus, Sebastes schlegeli, Leiognathus nuchalis, Larimichthys polyactis, and Trichiurus lepturus.

Fish eggs and larvae were collected in July and November of 2013 and January and May of 2014 to determine seasonal variation in the species composition of ichtyoplankton. Samples were classified based on morphological characteristics. Fish eggs were identified as belonging to five taxa; the most dominant species of fish eggs was Engraulis japonicus (62.05%) followed by Sardinops melanostictus (21.02%) and Leiognathus nuchalis (13.71%). These three species accounted for 96.8% of the total number of fish eggs collected. Larvae of 17 species in six families, and six orders were collected. The most dominant species of fish larvae was E. japonicus (51.79%), followed by L. nuchalis (12.59%) and Omobranchus elegans (12.08%). These three species accounted for 76.46% of the total number of larvae collected. Jinhae Bay was identified as a major spawning and nursery ground for fish species inhabiting in the south coast of Korea, such as E. japonicus, L. nuchalis, S. melanostictus, and Omobranchus elegans. Therefore, management of marine fish resources in the South Sea should necessarily include the ecological management of Jinhae Bay.
첨가유가 무태장어 (Anguilla marmorata) 치어의 성장 및 어체 영양성분에 미치는 영향

As part of the study on formula feeds for marbled eel (Anguilla marmorata) culture, the growth performance, the basic and main nutritional composition in marbled eel fed diets with various types of additive oils were evaluated. The test show that fatty acid composition of eels fed fish oils (pollack and squid liver) was significantly different from those fed vegetable oils (soybean, olive, perilla and linseed). In the culture test of providing diets added with 10% of various oils, both weight gain rate and feed efficiency were higher in the order of eels fed diet with linseed oil>squid liver>perilla>other oils. Crude protein levels were not significantly different depending on the types of oil contained in the feed, and crude lipid contents in eels fed diets with pollack, squid liver and soybean oils were significantly higher than those fed diets with linseed and olive oils. Vitamin A (VA) and E (VE) contents also displayed a noticeable difference among eels fed additive oils, and VA in eels fed pollack and squid liver oil, and VE in eels fed pollack and squid liver and linseed oil found higher than eels fed other oils. Omega fatty acids such as DHA and EPA were highest in eels feddiets with squid liver oil. From this study it is confirmed that fatty acid composition of diet affects fatty acid composition of cultured marbled eels.

Species composition and yearly variation of fish in coastal waters off Heuksan island were investigated using seasonal samples collected by fish pots from 2015 to 2017. A total of 269 fishes were sampled and classified into 25 species, 16 families, and 6 orders. The dominant species were Sebastes schlegelii (44 individuals, 11,790 g), followed by Conger myriaster (38 individuals, 5,240 g), and Hexagrammos agrammus (24 individuals, 2,650 g). By year, the highest number of individuals was found in 2015 (97 individuals, 15,107 g), while the lowest in 2017 (76 individuals, 11,364 g). The diversity index was the highest in 2015 (Hʹ=2.66) and the lowest in 2017 (Hʹ=2.42). The richness index was the highest in 2015 (RI=4.15) and the lowest in 2017 (RI=3.23). The evenness index was the highest in 2016 (J=0.90) and the lowest in 2015 (J=0.89). The dominance index was the highest in 2017 (D=34.2%) and the lowest in 2015 (D=29.9%). Highly economic species, such as Muraenesox cinereus, Conger myriaster, Sebastes schlegelii, Liparis tanakai, Pleuronichthys cornutus, and Takifugu rubripes, were caught.
