Vol.13 No.3

A relation between the movement range of arms and arising moment has been studied to find out efficient movement range to minimize impact concerning arm landing in sports aerobics. Four male athletes who won top three in national-level sports aerobics competition were chosen for the experiment. They were allowed to jump in between two force platform so that the right hand and the right leg could land onto the front and rear force platform, respectively. The sampling frequency was 200 Hz. The main conclusions based on the analysis of the angle and joint moment parameters of wrist, elbow, and shoulder are as follows: 1. The wrist moment was small when its angle was small, indicating that the dorsi-flexion of the wrist joint offered a positive influence to reduce wrist moment. 2. The elbow angle increased as wrist angle decreased and vice versa. This means that the movement range of the wrist joint affects that of the elbow joint. The darsi-flexion of the wrist is the position to absorb the impact of the elbow effectively rather than to absorb the impact of the wrist itself. The impact is absorbed by the flexion of wrist joint rather than the wrist. 3. The degree of moment transfer of the shoulder joint, having absorbed the impact from the elbow and elbow joint, became dependent on the efficiency of the fore-joints impact absorption.

Vol.12 No.1

The purpose of this study is to analyze the ground reaction force of arm landing on arm and leg during sports aerobics. Subjects of this study were total 10 players of 5 males and 5 females who have are domain sports aerobics medalists more than the third place in national tournaments. The subjects jumped between the two ground reaction force analyzers, while landing their right hand on the front platform(#1) and their right leg on the rear platform(#2), and the data frequency was set to 200Hz. Findings of this study are as follows; More than 3 times of impact peak force of vertical reaction force acted on arm joint than on leg joint. And, when ground reaction force on foot increased, ground reaction force on hand decreased. 3 impact peaks of curve of ground reaction force were found - Impact Peak 1 incurred on the time the palm lands on the ground, Impact Peak 2 absorbing shock secondarily on wrist joint, and Active Peak incurred on the time of holding the weight while pushing out the severly bent elbow joint.

Vol.6 No.3

Yoga has become an increasingly popular exercise in the world. Vinyasa Yoga, which??emphasizes the synchronizing of movement with breath movements, improves muscle power, dexterity, visual??perception, and reduce stress. However, it has not been studied on muscle activities in half Vinyasa. The??purpose of this study was to evaluate muscle activity between beginners and experts in half Vinyasa. Ten female??subjects (age: 22.2±3.94 yrs., body mass: 53.3±5.2 kg, height: 165.0±5.7 cm) participated in this study. sEMG signals were??acquired with Trigno wireless EMG system (Delsys Inc., USA). sEMG signals were recorded from four both-sided??muscles of the P.M.(pectoralis major), R.A.(rectus abdominis),T.B.(triceps brachii) and L.D.(latissimus??dorsi), when they performed three times repetitive movements of Surya Namaskara half Vinyasa. In order to compare two??groups, sEMG signals were normalized with nEMG=EMGpmax/EMG rmvc. In conclusion, first, the less dynamic and??continuous movements of Surya Namaskara half Vinyasa were linked like a chain connection. Second,??experts’ muscle activities were greater than beginners’ for technical movements, but less than for simple movements.

Vol.55 No.6

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of stability on one leg standing posture in yoga practice. Thirteen women college student who have never done yoga participated in this study. In order to collect data before and after yoga practicing for two years, we were used 3D motion capture system and electromyography. The results were as follows. First, ranges of motions for Y axis of left knee joint and X axis of right ankle joint were significantly different in dancer posture(p<.05), and then X axis of right ankle and Y axis of left ankle joint were significantly different in tree posture of pre and post training. Second, the planar alignment angle of trunk-pelvis was not significant difference in dancer and tree posture. Third, CoM-distances of Y, Z directions were significant difference in the tree posture(p<.05). Fourth, Muscle activities of both rectus abdominis, erector spinae and left quadriceps were significant difference in tree posture(p<.05). These findings suggested that yoga training played important roles in stable postures as results of decreasing rotation ankle joint and movement of CoM and enforcing core muscles. This study provides evidence for effectiveness of the stability on standing posture and can get a great effect on posture correction by means of yoga training.Hereafter, study on alignment angle, which is a measurement of postural stabilization will be needed by future yoga training.

Vol.14 No.2

The purpose of this study is to understand the pelvic movement centered on the 3 (X, Y, Z) axes, which are the basis of movement to improve pelvic posture recognition, and to provide a basic exercise that can be repeatedly trained with the rhythm. Therefore it can be easily utilized in the daily sports field to provide the program. Focusing on improving the ability of the exerciser to recognize his/her own posture, it was constructed around the rotational axis of the pelvis (X-left and right axis, Y-anteroposterior axis, Z-vertical axis), which can be the basis of movement. It consists of 9 movements: pelvic tilt exercise, pelvic rotation exercise, and pelvic hike & drop exercise , and the characteristics are as follows. First, the pelvic tilt (forward/backward) exercise is an exercise that adjusts the inclination in the anterior/posterior inclination direction by rotating around the left and right axes of the exerciser’s pelvis in an anatomical posture. Second, the pelvic rotation exercise is a movement in which the pelvis rotates about the vertical axis of the exerciser’s pelvis in an anatomical posture, and the pelvis rotates right front/left and right back/left forward. Third, the pelvic hike & drop exercise is a movement that rotates around the anteroposterior axis of the exerciser’s pelvis in an anatomical position. In addition, motions that can be performed in the lying position, the prone position, and the standing position are presented, so that the pelvis can be controlled in various positions in the three-dimensional space. Therefore, it is thought that the pelvic 3-axis exercise program to improve the ability of the exerciser to recognize his/her own posture can be utilized as the main exercise program for exercise beginners or rehabilitation exercisers as well as the warm-up and cool-down exercises of various life sports programs.
