Recently, we have examined a 44 year-old Korean male patient who had the complaints of acute right lower abdominal pain and bloody diarrhea. We performed serial barium enemas and selective superior mesenteric arteriogram and a diagnosis of segmental infarction of the cecum and proxirnal ascending colon with reversible process was made. After medical treatment with antibiotics and fiuid and electrolytes, the patient was discharged with good improvement on the ninth hospital day. We are reporting a case of ischemic colitis in which segmental infarction of the ascending colon was reversible v:ith the short review of concerning literatures.

R.F. Magnetron Sputtering법을 이용한 ITO 박막 오존 가스센서의 제조 및 특성

As an ozone gas sensor, the semiconductor gas sensor which is cheap, portable and simple in use and has a high sensitivity and an excellent selectivity, has been known as an alternative. In the present study, ITO ($In_2O_3 95%,\;SnO_2$ 5%) thin films were deposited on the alumina substrate by using R.F. magnetron sputtering method. The substrate temperature was 300$^{\circ}C$ and 500$^{\circ}C$, respectively and then some specimens were annealed at 500$^{\circ}C$ for 4h in air. ITO gas-sensing films formed crystallines before and after annealing. As results of gas sensitivity measurements to an ozone gas, the sensor deposited at 300$^{\circ}C$ and then annealed has the highest sensitivity (sensible below 1 ppm). As the operating temperature increased gradually, the sensitivity decreased but the response time and stability improved. 오존 가스센서는 저가이고 휴대 및 사용이 간편하며 감도가 높고 우수한 선택성을 지닌 반도체식 가스센서가 대안으로 부각되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 R.F. magnetron sputtering법을 이용하여 ITO($In_2O_3 95%,\;SnO_2$ 5%) 박막을 알루미나 기판위에 증착시켰다. 증착시 기판온도는 300$^{\circ}C$와 500$^{\circ}C$였고, 시편의 일부를 공기중 500$^{\circ}C$에서 4시간 동안 열처리하였다. ITO 가스 감지막은 열처리 전${\cdot}$후 모두 결정을 형성하였다. 오존 가스에 대한 감도측정 결과, 300$^{\circ}C$에서 증착한 다음 열처리한 센서에서 가장 높은 감도(1 ppm이하 감지 가능)를 나타내었다. 작동온도가 높을수록 감도는 줄어들었지만 빠른 응답 특성과 안정성을 가졌다.

The impairment of pituitary hormone secretion caused by large pituitary tumors usually occurs in the order of gonadotropin, growth hormone, prolactin, thyroid hormone and adrenocorticotropic hormone. We experienced a 61-year old male patient with recurrent hyponatremia as the only initial clinical manifestation of a nonfunctioning pituitary tumor. He had been misdiagnosed as having the syndrome of inappropriate ADH (SIADH) for 10 months. Thereafter, the combined pituitary stimulation test revealed the impaired secretion of adrenocorticotropic hormone and growth hormone. The computed tomography scan of the pituitary disclosed a large pituitary tumor. Finally, secondary adrenal insufficiency was diagnosed and successfully treated with glucocorticoid replacement. This case indicated than secondary adrenal insufficiency may precede oth□ clinical manifestations of pituitary hormone dfic□ency caused by large nonfunctioning pituitary tumors, and secondary adrenal insufficiency mus□ be considered as a differential diagnosis of SIADH.
