In response to climate change under a university level, this study has intended to find carbon-neutral campus development measures for Chungbuk National University (CBNU), which is composed of such facilities as education, research, and residential buildings. To reach this goal, we reviewed related literatures to find development measures for carbon neutral campus, employed a survey method asking students to show their preference and suitability toward provided measures, and statistical analyses to find appropriate measures using factor analysis. We have found the following results. First, based on literature review, we have identified several concepts regarding carbon-neutral city and has found the elements of carbon-neutral campus development. Second, we have drawn carbon-neutral campus development measures of CBNU through factor analysis. Finally, based on the characteristics and the present carbon-neutral campus conditions of the CBNU, we presented development measures.

To satisfy residents' needs properly in developing rural villages, it is necessary to understand the characteristics of spatial structures of those villages. Thus the purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of spatial structures using Space Syntax analysis and to analyze the characteristics of travel patterns through verifying whether there exist differences in the integration according to gender, transit purposes, and transit modes. To reach the objectives, this study has employed two rounds of surveys targeting Busu areas (Busu 1, 2 Ri Aegok 1, 2 Ri) located in Hwoin-myun, Boeun-gun, South Korea. The survey has requested the respondents to fill out their own transit routes according to their transit purposes, their transit time, transit frequency, and travel modes. Using a high resolution satellite image, axial lines were drawn and the integration values were calculated. To test the hypotheses regarding the difference in the characteristics of spatial configuration according to gender, transit purposes, and travel modes, both one way and two way ANOVA analysis were performed. As a result, transit purposes, travel modes, and travel by each village showed statistically meaningful relationship with the integration values. Thus we can conclude that there appeared interaction between the travel by each village and transit purposes and between the travel by each village and travel modes.

This study has intended to analyze the factors that affect the resettlement ratio of native residents in residential environment improvement projects(REIP) in Korea. To reach this goal, this study elicited the factors affecting the resettlement ratio of native residents in REIP through literature review. This study has employed a stepwise regression analysis method to fit the best fitted model to explain the resettlement ratio. As a result, this study has found the following results. First, as for the resettlement ratio of native residents, including owners and renters, the more 'Floor Area Ratio' increases, the more 'Resettlement Ratio' increases. Contrast, both the more 'Rental Housing Ratio' and the more 'Rental Ratio Compared by Rental Household' decreases, the more 'Resettlement Ratio' increases. Second, as for the resettlement ratio of the owner of a house, both the more 'the Selling Housing Ratio of REIP' and 'Sales Margin' increases, the more 'resettlement ratio' increases.

Eco-village has been regarded as an alternative to accomplish sustainable development for rural village. This study has intended to develop comprehensive planning indicators to establish an eco-village based on such aspects of sustainable development as economy, environment, and society. To reach this objective, this study has set up six goals as follows: 1) ecological production activities for agriculture, 2) resource circulation and energy independence in the economic domain; 3) building cultural and historical succession and community activation, and 4) living together with surrounding regions in social domain; and 5) maintaining environmental habitat, and 6) restoring natural ecosystem in environmental domain. Based on these goals, this study has developed the planning indicators to build an eco-village through case study, literature review, survey for suitability, and factor analysis. This study has found 17 strategies and 47 planning indicators in accordance with the six goals.

This study has intended to build ecological networks in consideration of life-zones inside Cheongju city through biotope grade, GIS network analysis etc. This study consisted of following three steps. First, we selected core districts and core spot districts using land use patten and biotope grade. The core district included the first grade of biotope and forest land. The core district consisted of two sectors: east axis core, Uam mountain; west axis core, Bumo mountain. The core spot district included the first grade of biotope. The core spot districts consisted of two sectors: north axis base core, Myongshim park; south axis base core, Guryong park. Second, the base district included the second grade of biotope and park and school. We used buffering analysis within 500m of the base district and selected the new base district. Third, we connected core districts and base core districts using least cost analysis of GIS. Thus we built comprehensive ecological networks in consideration of life-zones through GIS.

The purpose of this study is to select a waste landfill site, a LULU(Locally Unwanted Land Use) using GIS spatial analysis techniques, internet poll, and personal interview scheme as a public participation way in Cheongju city. The factors of waste landfill site selection consist of social and economic factors as well as natural environmental factors; we choose population density, road, and land cover as social and economic factors; and altitude, inclination, and hydrologic system as natural environmental factors. By applying an overlay technique to the factors of waste landfill site selection, four candidate sites such as Undong, Jibook, Woloh, and Sukok-dong were selected and then the information of these candidate sites was open to the public through internet mechanisms based on ArcIMS. The result of the polling was reflected on the final decision to find an optimal landfill site, Woloh dong.
