        Fusobacterium nucleatum 추출물이 사람 치은 섬유아세포와 HOS 941세포의 성장과 마우스 비장세포의 TNF-α 생성에 미치는 효과

        F. nucleatum is a gram-negative obligate anaerobe which is the principal and most frequent cause of gingival inflammation and is the predominant pathogen isolated in subsequent periodontal breakdown. It is also one of the most numerous bacteria found in subgingival plaque samples from healthy sites; its numbers are about 10-fold greater in plaque from periodontally diseased sites. The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of outer membrane(OM), outer membrane vesicle(OMV), and lipopolysaccharide(LPS) from F. nucleatum ATCC 25586 strain on the growth of human gingival fibroblasts and HOS 941 cells, and on the $TNF-{\alpha}$ production / $TNF-{\alpha}$ mRNA expression of mouse splenocytes. For the examination of cytotoxic effects, $TNF-{\alpha}$ production and $TNF-{\alpha}$ mRNA expression, the MTT assay, the ELISA and the RT-PCR were performed, respectively. All extracts of F. nucleatum tested were cytotoxic to both of human gingival fibroblasts and HOS 941 cells, and the significant difference of cytotoxic activity among the extracts was not observed. In the effects of these extracts on the $TNF-{\alpha}$ production / $TNF-{\alpha}$ mRNA expression of mouse splenocytes, all extracts of F. nucleatum tested also stimulated the $TNF-{\alpha}$ production / $TNF-{\alpha}$ mRNA expression, but the effects of the OM extracts on the $TNF-{\alpha}$ production / $TNF-{\alpha}$ mRNA expression were higher than those of the OMV and the LPS extracts. The pattern of the $TNF-{\alpha}$ mRNA expression was similar to that of the $TNF-{\alpha}$ production. These results indicate that F. nucleatum seems to contribute to the pathogenesis of periodontal diseases at least by its cytotoxicity, directly and its $TNF-{\alpha}$ production, indirectly.

        An Electromyographic Study on Changes of Mandibular Position

        저자는 하악의 위치변화가 저작근에 미치는 영향을 근전도학적으로 평가하고자, 측두하악장애의 징후와 증상이 없는 정상성인 28명을 대상으로 중심위 교합장치(centric relation splint), 중심교합위 교합장치(centric occlusion splint), 전방 재위치 교합장치(anterior repositioning splint)를 장착시킨 상태에서 하악의 중심의, 중심교합위, 전방위률 유도한 후 최대 이악물기 상태의 좌우측 교근 및 전측두근의 근전도를 채득, 분석, 평가한 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1. 전측두근에서 하악의 위치변화에 따른 최대 근활성도의 차이가 나타났으나(p<0.05), 교근에서는 나타나지 않았다. 2. 전측두근의 경우 중심교합위에서 최대 이악물기 상태의 최대 근활성도는 교합 장치물을 장착하지 않은 경우 및 중심위에서와 비교하여 감소하였다(p<0.05). 3. 전측두근의 경우 전방위에서 최대 이악물기 상태의 최대 근활성도는 교합 장치물을 장착하지 않은 경우 및 중심위에서와 비교하여 감소하였다(p<0.001). 4. 교근과 전측두근의 좌우 비대칭지수(asymmetry index)는 하악의 위치변화에 따른 차이가 나타나지 않았다.

        하악골 침범을 포함한 골화석증 1예

        The authors experienced a diagnosis of a benign form of osteopetrosis based on the comprehensive data obtained from (1) clinical examination, (2) radiological and nuclear medicinal findings of the thickening of cortex of mandible, femur, clavicle, and the increased bone density of mandible, maxilla, cranial base, calvarium, lumbar, femur, and additionally (3) histopathological findings of sclerotic bony tissue in a Korean male of 38-year-old.

      • 경피성전기신경자극(TENS)을 이용한 교정치료 초기 동통의 완화에 대한 연구

        As a noninvasive, nonpharmacologic pain control technique, Transutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation(TENS) has been used successfully in the management of acute and chronic pain syndromes. In the present study, TENS was assessed for its effect on early orthodontic pain associated with tooth separation. Fourth three adult subjects were randomly assigned to one of three groups receiving either high frequency(100 ㎐), Low frequency (2 ㎐) or Placebo TENS. In each patient, separation wires were placed mesial to the upper premolar, mesial and distal to the upper 1st molar. The obtained results were as follows : 1. At control side of subjects(n=43), spontaneous relief of orthodontic pain began at a point between 60-hr and 72-hr(p<0.05). 2. In the HiF/LoI TENS group, pain control effects appeared between the pain relief of the control side and the pain relief of the experimental side from 12-hr to 72-hr(p<0.05). In the HiF/LoI TENS group, immediate pain relief after TENS was reported by the 26.7% of subjects. 3. In the HiF/LoI TENS group, there was significant pain relief around 60-hr condition(p<0.01). 4. In the placebo TENS group, there was no significant pain relief at any time.

        교정치료시 동통관리를 위한 TENS.

        Pain and pain management have long been items of central concern in dentistry. Although they are given little attention in orthodontics, virtually every patient wearing orthodontic appliances experiences and complains of some extent of pain, and someones have suffured from severe throbbing pain. A form of stimulation-produced analgesia, Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) is a non-invasive, non-pharmacologic pain control techiques. The clinical application of TENS to orthodontic patients may lead to better patient compliance. And I want to discuss some basic knowledge of this TENS.
