대학입학 전형요소로서 대학 인재상의 활용방안 탐색 -입학사정관제에서의 활용사례를 중심으로-

입학사정관제도는 5·31 교육개혁 이후 점차 다양화되고 특성화 되어가는 대입전형에 전문성을 제고함과 동시에 대학이 자율성을 갖고 다양한 방법으로 대학특성에 맞는 학생을 선발할 수 있도록 유도하려는 목적에서 도입되었다. 본 연구는 입학사정관제 시행에 따라 요구되는 대학 인재상에 대한 개념을 정립하고, 이를 통하여 대학이 요구하는 건학이념과 인재상에 부합하는 학생 선발을 지향하는 입학사정관제하에서의 인재상의 활용 현황을 사례중심으로 분석하여, 향후 대학입학 전형요소로서 인재상의 활용 방안을 제시하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 대학 인재상을 대학 입학전형에 활용하는 대학의 사례를 분석한 결과, 대학고유의 인재상의 정립과 그에 따른 학생의 선발·교육·학습 관리 노력을 유발하는 긍정적 측면과 함께 이러한 움직임이 일부 대학에 국한되어 있고, 전반적으로 대학의 특성과 전략에 맞는 인재상의 정립과 그에 따른 과학적이고 체계적인 노력이 부족하였다. 이에 따른 대학입학 전형에서의 대학 인재상의 활용방안을 제시하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 각 대학이 처한 상황과 환경과의 고려를 통해 대학 고유의 인재상을 정립하고 이를 전형요소에 활용하여야 한다. 둘째, 각 대학에서 선발하고자 하는 인재의 핵심역량과 평가기준에 대한 공개와 홍보 노력이 강화되어야 한다. 셋째, 인재상이 주기적으로 수정·보완될 필요가 있다. 넷째, 인재상의 주기적인 수정·보완을 촉진하기 위해 대학 자체적으로 인재상 정립과 전형요소에의 활용을 위한 방법론 개발 연구가 지속적으로 수행될 필요가 있다. 다섯째, 대학 차원에서의 인재상 정립만이 아니라 대학내 각 모집단위별 인재상을 정립하고, 이에 근거하여 모집단위별로 특성화된 전형이 이루질 수 있는 방안이 모색될 필요가 있다. The admissions officer system was adopted to reform the college admission process in Korea, which has become increasingly diverse and specialized since the 5·31 educational reform in 1995, and to allow universities to have autonomy and diversity in selecting their future students. This study aims to outline the concept of talented students, whom admissions officers seek to admit to their universities, analyzes cases in which admissions officers applied the ideal in their holistic review and selection of college applicants, and offers recommendations on ways in which universities can utilize the concept of talent as an element in their college entrance procedure. The results of the present study shows, that while there are several positive aspects in utilizing the concept of talented students in the university admissions process, such moves were found to be limited to few universities, and that there was an overall lack of scientific and systematic efforts in establishing the idea of a desirable student who is compatible with a university`s characteristics and admissions strategy. Finally the study suggests the following; ① universities should build their own concept of talent by taking into consideration their situation and circumstances, and make use of it in their college entrance procedures; ② universities should publicize their idea of competency of a student and their evaluations of it; ③ universities should periodically modify and supplement their concept of talented students; ④ universities should continue developing a methodology to further build on their concept of talent to be used in the college admissions process; ⑤ and lastly, universities should develop concepts of talented students at both the university and individual department levels, to enable more specialized student selection.
