국제통상 : 동아시아 국가의 경제성장 수렴에 대한 실증분석

본 연구는 다른 국가에 비해 무역개방도가 높은 동아시아 국가의 특징을 고려한 조건부 수렴현상을 패널분석 하였다. 이는 동아시아 국가는 무역개방도가 높은특징이 나타나고 있기 때문에 경제성장의 수렴현상을 분석하기 위해서는 무역개방도를 추가적으로 통제할 필요가 있기 때문이다. 분석결과 인적자본, 투자율을 통제하였을 때 보다 무역개방도를 추가로 통제하였을 때 수렴현상이 더욱 뚜렷하게 나타났고 수렴속도도 더욱 빨라진 것으로 분석되었다. 추가적으로 동아시아 국가들을 동남아 국가와 동북아 국가로 구분하여 분석하였다. 동북아 국가에서는 절대적 수렴과 조건부수렴 현상이 모두 나타났지만, 동남아 국가에서는 무역개방도를 추가로 통제시킨 조건부 수렴현상만이 나타났다.분석결과를 종합하면 동아시아 국가의 높은 무역개방도를 통제시킨 조건부 수렴에서 수렴현상이 더욱 강하게 나타났다. 본 연구의 분석결과를 바탕으로 시사점을 도출하면 첫째로, 대외무역의존도가 높은 동아시아 국가들의 무역개방도가 경제성장의 수렴에 있어서 상당한 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 둘째, 동아시아 국가의 지역경제통합 성립을 위해서는 동북아시아 국가와 동남아시아 국가의 경제성장 격차를 줄여 나갈 필요성이 있다. This paper studies economic growth convergence conditioning on various characteristics of East Asian countries. Our findings suggest that when trade openness is conditioned in addition to human capital and investment, the economic growth rates for East Asian countries converge faster than when human capital and investment alone are considered. In particular, while Northeast Asian countries exhibit absolute economic growth convergence as well as economic growth convergence conditioned on trade openness, Southeast Asian countries show only economic growth convergence conditioned on trade openness. Analysis of policy implications based on the results of the first East Asian countries` high dependence on foreign trade, trade openness in the convergence of economic growth has had a significant positive effect. Second, in order to establish a regional economic integration in East Asia, Northeast Asia and Southeast Asia, the country`s economic growth is necessary to reduce the gap.

국제경제 ; EU 국가 소득의 고찰을 통한 소득위험분산과 소비위험분산 간 관계 분석

본 연구는 소비위험분산 목적으로 실행된 소득위험분산이 실질적으로 소비위험분산에 기여할 수 있는지 여부를 실증분석을 통하여 검증한다. 국가 간 생산요소 이동에 따른 순요소소득의 발생은 국가 간 소득위험분산의 주요 수단 중 하나이다. 순요소소득 변화가 소비 변화에 미치는 영향과 GDP 변화가 소비 변화에 미치는 영향이 동일하다는 선행연구의 가정 하에서 국가 간 생산요소 이동을 통한 소득위험분산은 소비위험분산에 기여하는 것으로 여겨졌다. 1999년부터 2010년 기간 중 EU 12개 국가들의 사례를 통한 본 연구의 실증분석 결과 순요소소득에 대한 소비반응은 GDP에 대한 소비반응보다 낮으며, 더 나아가 순요소소득의 변화가 소비의 변화에 미치는 영향은 매우 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 순요소소득과 GDP 각각에 대한 소비반응이 동일하다는 기존 선행연구의 가정 하에서, 국가 간 생산요소 이동을 통한 소득위험분산의 소비위험분산에 대한 기여도는 과대평가되었음을 본 연구는 암시한다. 본 연구는 국가 간 생산요소 이동을 통한 소득위험분산이 실질적으로 소비위험분산에 기여하도록 하기 위해서는, 순요소소득이 소비에 유의하게 영향을 미칠 수 있어야함을 시사하며, 따라서 국외로부터의 순요소소득이 보다 직접적으로 소비로 귀결되기 위한 법제도 및 관련 시스템의 개선이 필요할 것이다. This study empirically examines whether income smoothing effectively contributes to consumption smoothing. Since international factor movement plays an important role for income smoothing across countries, net factor income across countries deserves more attention in considering income smoothing than attention having been paid by previous studies in the literature. Most of previous studies assume that net factor income has the same degree of effects on consumption as GDP. For the case of 12 EU countries during the period from 1999 to 2010, our empirical investigation observes that the response of consumption with respect to net factor income is severely lower than the response of consumption with respect to GDP, and further net factor income has ignorable effects on the consumption. This evidence implies that the income smoothing via international factor movement is less significant in contributing to the consumption smoothing. In the sequel, our finding suggests that legal and institutional process for transferring net factor income across countries should be eased further to improve contribution of income smoothing to consumption smoothing.

기업규모와 지방정부 효율성이 산업특화에 미치는 영향: 미국 50개주 사례 실증분석

본 연구는 총 18개 산업 부문에 대해 1998년부터 2004년까지 기간 중 미국 50개주의 주별 산업특화와 해당 주의 기업과 주정부의 관계를 패널 회귀분석을 통해 고찰한다. 본 연구의 실증분석 결과는 금융, 교통 산업 부문의 산업특화는 기업의 규모가 클수록 심화되며, 농업, 부동산, 교육 부문의 산업특화는 주정부의 효율성과 밀접한 관련이 있다는 증거를 제시한다. 본 연구의 실증결과는 산업특화 정책을 제고하는 데 있어서 해당지역의 기업과 지방정부의 역할을 고려해야 한다는 시사점을 제공한다. We provide empirical investigation for the relation between the industrial specialization and local institutions such as firms and governments for the fifty US states. In doing so, we consider the eighteen sectors of industries during the period from 1998 to 2004. We find that regional specialization for finance and transportation significantly depends on large-sized firms. In addition, our empirical results suggest that more efficient state governments improve the specialization of agriculture, real estate, and education sectors. We conclude that policy makers need some discretion in considering the roles of firms and local governments for regional specialization in different types of industries.

미국 중고차 가격의 결정 요인에 대한 실증연구

자동차는 반도체, 조선과 함께 한국의 3대 수출품목 중 하나이며, 2017년의 경우 한국의 전체 승용차 수출물량 중 약 35%가 미국에 수출되었다. 또한, 미국은 한국의 대표적 자동차 제조업체인 현대자동차의 최대 해외시장이다. 본 연구는 미국의 중고 승용차 시장에서 형성되는 가격에 대한 실증분석을 통해 미국 중고차 가격의 결정요인을 고찰한다. 본 연구는 2017년 미국 50개주에서 판매된 모든 중고자동차 관련 자료를 분석 대상으로 하며, 이를 분석하는데 있어서 자동차 모델 연도, 마일리지 등 주요 통제변수와 함께 판매 지역의 1인당 소득을 독립변수로 고려한다. 본 연구의 실증분석 결과에 따르면, 현대자동차 중고차의 평균가격보다 높은 수준을 나타내는 독일 및 일본 제조업체 중고차의 경우 지역소득, 마일리지, 모델 연도가 가격에 미치는 영향 역시 현대자동차와 유의하게 다른 것으로 나타났다. Together with semiconductor and ship, automobile is one of major items for Korean export. The US is the largest importing country of Korean automobile as 35 percent of all passenger car exports were exported to the United States in 2017. This study examines the determinants of US used car prices through an empirical analysis of prices formed in the US used car market. This study aims to analyze data related to all used cars sold in 50 US states in 2017, and considers the income per capita of the sales region as an independent variable along with major control variables such as car model year and mileage. According to the empirical analysis results of this study, it was found that the influence of regional income, mileage, and model year on the price of used cars of German and Japanese manufacturers is also significantly different from that of Hyundai Motors.

수출촉진 기능과 도덕적 해이 가능성을 고려한 한국 수출보험의 재평가

This study evaluates the Korean export insurance by examining whether the export insurance contributes to the Korean export promotion and it faces some possible moral hazard. For the goal, we consider the cases for Korean export to the US, China, and Japan and apply vector autoregressive regression (VAR) analysis to time series data. Our finding is that the export insurance coverage contributes to the Korean export to China more than for the US and Japan and also the insurance covering the export to China is exposed to moral hazard more significantly than for the Korean export to the other two countries. This evidence implies that the export insurance regarding China should be approached in some distinguished manner from the export to the US and Japan to achieve better export insurance performance.
