        TiH<sub>2</sub>/camphene 슬러리의 동결건조 및 열처리에 의한 Ti 계 다공체의 제조

        Porous Ti-systems with unidirectionally aligned channels were synthesized by freeze-drying and a heat treatment process. $TiH_2$ powder and camphene were used as the source materials of Ti and sublimable vehicles, respectively. Camphene slurries with $TiH_2$ content of 10 and 15 vol% were prepared by milling at $50^{\circ}C$ with a small amount of oligomeric polyester dispersant. Freezing of the slurry was done in a Teflon cylinder attached to a copper bottom plate cooled at $-25^{\circ}C$ while unidirectionally controlling the growth direction of the camphene. Pores were generated subsequently by sublimation of the camphene during drying in air for 48 h. The green body was heat-treated at $1100^{\circ}C$ for 1 h in a nitrogen and air atmosphere. XRD analysis revealed that the samples composed of TiN and $TiO_2$ phase were dependent on the heat-treatment atmosphere. The sintered samples showed large pores of about 120 mm which were aligned parallel to the camphene growth direction. The internal wall of the large pores had relatively small pores with a dendritic structure due to the growth of camphene dendrite depending on the degree of nucleation and powder rearrangement in the slurry. These results suggest that a porous body with an appropriate microstructure can be successfully fabricated by freeze-drying and a controlled sintering process of a camphene/$TiH_2$ slurry.

        편마비환자에서 로봇 보조 상지 재활치료의 효과

        Objective: To investigate the effects of short-term robot-assisted upper limb training on hemiplegicpatients compared to conventional physical therapy. Method: This study was a prospective, single-blinded, randomized controlled trial. Eighteen hemiplegicpatients due to brain lesions were randomly assigned to: (1) robot-assisted upper limb training andconventional upper limb physical therapy for 30 min a day, respectively (Robot group); or (2) conventionalupper limb physical therapy for 30 min twice a day (Conventional group). All interventions were providedfor 2 weeks, 5 times a week. Each patient was evaluated at pre- and post-treatment by the Fugl-Meyerassessment-upper extremity (FMA-UE), Jebsen hand function test (JHFT), grip power, modified Barthelindex-upper extremity (MBI-UE), line bisection test, and Albert test. Results: The Robot group showed significant improvement in FMA-UE (pre: 13.22 ± 14.20, post: 21.67± 15.84; p = 0.018), MBI-UE (pre: 14.33 ± 7.42, post: 16.56 ± 6.95; p = 0.041), and line bisectiontest (pre: 25.15 ± 34.48, post: 14.93 ± 28.38; p = 0.043). The Conventional group showed significantimprovement only in MBI-UE (pre: 9.22 ± 6.06, post: 15.56 ± 6.19; p = 0.008). The improvementin MBI-UE was larger in the Conventional group than Robot group (6.33 ± 3.28 vs. 2.22 ± 2.49; p= 0.014). Conclusion: This study suggests that short-term robot-assisted upper limb training may improve upperlimb function in hemiplegic patients. However, proper physical therapy may be needed to transferimproved upper limb function to activity of daily living. In addition, goal-directed reaching tasks usinga robot are expected to be a treatment option for hemineglect.

        Pembrolizumab과 통합의학치료로 호전된 뇌전이 동반 말기 비소세포성 폐암 환자 1례

        Objective: The purpose of this study is to report the case of a patient with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with Programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) mutation treated by Integrative Medicine Therapy (IMT). Methods: A patient with metastatic NSCLC received pembrolizumab 200mg intravenously for every 3 weeks from July 2017. Repeat cycle every 3 weeks since July 2017. The patient has been treated with Integrative Medicine Therapy (IMT) since December 2016. The tumor size was measured by computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging(MRI). Adverse events were evaluated by the National Cancer Institute Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events (NCI-CTCAE), version 5.0. Results: After combined treatment, the extent of proximal portion of primary tumor in the left lower lobe was decreased and disease status was stable radiologically. No evidence of newly developed metastatic lesions in the brain since May 2017. The patient did not experience any adverse event according to NCI-CTCAE ver. 5.0. Conclusion: This case study suggests that Integrative Medicine Therapy (IMT) may contribute to tumor response, in conjunction with Pembrolizumab on the treatment of patients with NSCLC.

        참조기(Larimichthys polyactis)에서 분리된 Neobenedenia spp.에 대한 분자 생물 동정 및 계통수 분석

        In this study, we determined the cause of a disease outbreak in small yellow croaker(Larimichthys polyactis) in Jeju island. The major external signs in the dead fish were hemorrhage of the skin. Vibrio harveyi were isolated from a few fishes and viruses were not detected from the diseased fish. However, flukes were confirmed on the skin and we conducted molecular identification and phylogenetic analysis of the isolated parasites. The obtained 28S rRNA sequence of our specimen(Accession No. OM333244) showed the highest homology with Neobenedenia girellae, while the COI sequence of our specimen showed the highest homology with N. melleni. Further sequence analysis with other genes and morphological observation are necessary for accurate identification.

        Early Motor Balance and Coordination Training Increased Synaptophysin in Subcortical Regions of the Ischemic Rat Brain

        The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of early motor balance and coordination training on functional recovery and brain plasticity in an ischemic rat stroke model,compared with simple locomotor exercise. Adult male Sprague-Dawley rats with cortical infarcts were trained under one of four conditions: nontrained control, treadmill training,motor training on the Rota-rod, or both Rota-rod and treadmill training. All types of training were performed from post-operation day 1 to 14. Neurological and behavioral performance was evaluated by Menzies’ scale, the prehensile test, and the limb placement test, at post-operation day 1, 7, and 14. Both Rota-rod and treadmill training increased the expression of synaptophysin in subcortical regions of the ischemic hemisphere including the hippocampus, dentate gyrus, and thalamus, but did not affect levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor or tyrosin kinase receptor B. The Rota-rod training also improved Menzies’ scale and limb placement test scores, whereas the simple treadmill training did neither. The control group showed significant change only in Menzies’ scale score. This study suggests that early motor balance and coordination training may induce plastic changes in subcortical regions of the ischemic hemisphere after stroke accompanied with the recovery of sensorimotor performance.

        전자기자극을 이용한 둔부근의 자극: 초음파 연구

        Objective: To know if electro-magnetic stimulation can induce the contraction of gluteus medius and minimus muscles, and to compare pain induced by electro-magnetic stimulation of the gluteal muscles with that induced by transcutaneous neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES). Method: Two different intensity of transcutaneous NMES (40 mA, 60 mA) and electro-magnetic stimulation (60%, 100%) were applied to the left buttock of 15 healthy male volunteers in random order. The ultrasound images of gluteal muscles and visual analog scale (VAS) of pain were obtained three times at each type of stimulation. The grade of muscle contraction and the VAS score of each type of stimulation were compared. Results: At maximal stimulation intensity of our equipments, the mean VAS score was lower (p=0.012) in electro-magnetic stimulation than in transcutaneous NMES, and the grade of gluteus minimus contraction was higher (p=0.035) in electro-magnetic stimulation than in transcutaneous NMES. When the mean VAS scores at the same grade of contraction were compared, the VAS scores of electro-magnetic were lower than transcutaneous NMES in both gluteus medius (3.92±1.79 vs. 5.35±2.98, p=0.033) and minimus (4.12±1.85 vs. 5.69±3.00, p=0.046). Conclusion: Electro-magnetic stimulation induced the contraction of gluteus medius and minimus muscles with less pain than electrical stimulation for the same amount of muscle contraction. These results suggest that electro-magnetic stimulation can replace transcutaneous NMES in deep, large muscles such as gluteal muscles.

        뇌파를 이용한 스텝퍼 보행 중의 피질 활동 측정

        Objective: Recent neuroimaging studies have shown a strong involvement of the cortex as well as brainstem locomotor center in locomotion. In the present study, cortical activity during constant stepping was investigated using electro- encephalography (EEG). Method: Five healthy volunteers participated in this study. Sixty-four channel EEG was measured for 10 min while the participants performed constant stepping on a cadence of 100 rpm (50 cycles per 1 min) using a recumbent stepper. Surface electromyography (EMG) was also measured at the bilateral vastus medialis muscles. Each stepping cycle was epoched from the onset of EMG signal of the right vastus medialis muscle. Averaged event-related potentials (ERP) and event-related spectral perturbations (ERSP) of all subjects were calculated at all EEG channels. Results: Periodic change of ERP was centered on the CZ and FPZ electrodes. While ERP at the CZ started to increase at 200 and 800 ms, ERP at the FPZ started to increase at −50 and 600 ms. ERSP was remarkable at the CZ during stepping cycles. According to the stepping cycle, power increases were pronounced at low-gamma frequency band and also observed at beta band. Conclusion: This study showed cortical activity during constant stepping using EEG in healthy participants. Periodic cortical activities were remarkable at the sensorimotor cortex area, and precedent activities were observed at the prefrontal area. EEG measurement during stepping on a recumbent stepper may be a valuable tool in investigating cortical activates related to walking in patients with gait disorders

        CuO-NiO 혼합분말의 동결건조 및 수소환원에 의한 Cu-Ni 다공체 제조

        Cu-Ni alloys with unidirectionally aligned pores were prepared by freeze-drying process of CuO-NiO/camphene slurry. Camphene slurries with dispersion stability by the addition of oligomeric polyester were frozen at $-25^{\circ}C$, and pores in the frozen specimens were generated by sublimation of the camphene during drying in air. The green bodies were hydrogen-reduced at $300^{\circ}C$ and sintered at $850^{\circ}C$ for 1 h. X-ray diffraction analysis revealed that CuO-NiO composite powders were completely converted to Cu-Ni alloy without any reaction phases by hydrogen reduction. The sintered samples showed large and aligned parallel pores to the camphene growth direction, and small pores in the internal wall of large pores. The pore size and porosity decreased with increase in CuO-NiO content from 5 to 10 vol%. The change of pore characteristics was explained by the degree of powder rearrangement in slurry and the accumulation behavior of powders in the interdendritic spaces of solidified camphene.

        서해안 천수만 일대 양식 조피볼락(Sebastes schlegeli)의상피 선충 감염현황

        We investigated a nematode infection in the epithelial tissue of rockfish Sebastes schlegeli cultured in Cheonsu Bay, western Korea, from May 2013 to April 2014. Nematodes infected the epithelial tissues of various external organs, including the fins, operculum, nares, mouth, and head. Over a 1-year period, the overall nematode infection rate in rockfish was 55% (n=89/163): 56.7% (n=17/30) in May 2013, 88% (n=29/33) in August 2013, 0% (n=0/30) in October 2013, 70% (n=21/30) in January 2014, and 55% (n=22/40) in April 2014. During this study, the only massmortality of cultured rockfish in Cheonsu Bay was in August 2013, when we identified skin wounds on the rockfish caused by the nematodes escaping from their hosts. During this period, the accumulated mortality for 2 weeks was1.4-22.4% in different farms. In addition, several pathogenic bacteria (Photo bacterium damselae, Vibrio spp., and Streptococcus iniae) were isolated from the moribund rockfish; these were thought to be transmitted through the skin wounds caused by the nematodes.
