This paper presents a finite element method to analyze the free vibration of a flexible HDD composed of the spinning disk-spindle system with fluid dynamic bearings(FDBs), the head-suspension-actuator with pivot bearings, and the base plate with complicated geometry. Experimental modal testing shows that the proposed method well predicts the vibration characteristics of a HDD. This research also shows that even the vibration motion of the spinning disk corresponding to half-speed whirl and the pure disk mode are transferred to a head-suspension-actuator and base plate through the air bearing and the pivot bearing consecutively. The proposed method can be effectively extended to investigate the forced vibration of a HDD and to design a robust HDD against shock.

Streptococcal myositis is an extremely uncommon infectious disease caused by Group A streptococcus (GAS). GAS infection spreads rapidly and diffusely through the muscle, resulting in edema and necrosis. Consequently, it results in streptococcal toxic shock syndrome having extremely high mortality. We report a 42 year-old female patient with systemic lupus erythematosus accompanying with streptococcal myositis who initially presented with fever, severe pain, and tenderness on the calf. Her systemic toxic symptoms were aggravated and finally she died of the disease in spite of aggressive management.

This paper presents an efficient method for determining the forced response of a spinning flexible disk-spindle system supported by fluid dynamic bearings(FDBs) in a computer hard disk drive(HDD). The spinning flexible disk-spindle system is represented by the asymmetric finite element equations of motion originating from the asymmetric dynamic coefficients of the FDBs and the gyroscopic moment of a spinning disk-spindle system. The proposed method utilizes only the right eigenvectors of the eigenvalue problem to transform the large asymmetric finite element equations of motion into a small number of coupled equations, guaranteeing the accuracy of their numerical integration. The results are then back-substituted into the equations of motion to determine the forced response. The effectiveness of the proposed method was verified by comparing it with the responses from the classical methods of mode superposition with the general eigenvalue problems, and mode superposition with modal approximation. The proposed method was shown to be effective in determining the forced response represented by the asymmetric finite element equations of motion of a spinning flexible disk-spindle system supported by FDBs.

저자들은 임상적으로 간낭종 감염이 의심이 가는 환자에서 경피적 배액술로 간낭종이 Salmonella paratyphi A에 의해 감염되었음을 증명하였고 항생제와 경피적 배액술로 성공적으로 치료한 1예를 경험하였기에 문헌 고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다. Salmonellae cause a number of characteristic clinical infections in humans, including gastroenteritis, enteric fever, bacteremia, focal metastatic infection and an asymptomatic chronic carrier state. We report a case of large hepatic cyst infected with Salmonella paratyphi A. A 47-year-old woman was admitted, because of abdominal complains (fullness and pain) and fever. On physical examination, a mass was palpated on right upper quadrant of the abdomen. The computerized tomography of the abdomen showed a large hepatic cyst, but not cystic infection. Aspiration and percutaneous drainage of the hepatic cyst were perfomed for the therapeutic decompression under fluoroscopic guidance. Cultures of the cyst fluid revealed growth of Salmonella paratyphi A. Radiologic contrast media after draining of the cyst fluid revealed no communication between the cyst and bile ducts. Infected hepatic cyst appeared to result from hematogenic seeding. One month later, the patient improved and was discharged without any complication.
