Human Resource Management (HRM) performs numerous activities in organizations including employee recruitment, selection, placement, job analysis, training and development, and labor relations. POSCO (Pohang Steel Company) has concerned with employee management related to job placement and analysis among these activities because of the problems of over-complexity of placement precedures for the variety of recruits, the frequency of selection, a large amount of job descriptions / specifications, and their changes. This study, as a phase of developing the entire HRM systems in the organization, briefly summarizes the preliminary information related and describes an implementation of expert system as a means for effective job placement based on the principle of right-person-in-right-place with identifying aptitudes and personalities of employees. Thus, a new approach for developing a job description / specification using a formal specification language like Z is also proposed. The result of this study will cultivate the performance of personnel, prevent conflicts between labor and management, promote overall productivity of organization, as well as helpfully verify job analysis.
Prosthetic design expert system for the below-the-knee amputee

This research plans to design and implement a knowledge-based CAD system to assist in the design of customized prosthetic limbs. The expert system is provided with the knowledge of the human experts so that complex design rules can be incorporated into the CAD process. The system aims to relieve the prosthetist of many time-consuming repeatative tasks and enable him/her to spend more time with the patient and thus, improve the quality of service.

This Paper presents a selection method for the proposed sites of automobile factory based on the analytic hierarchy process (AHP). Site evaluation is generally regarded as unstructured, or semi-structured decision-making problem, depending on the multiple, different evaluation criteria and their importance of both the firms which is trying to select the most appropriate site and the local government which is trying to attract the factory. The AHP was introduced and successfully used to solve the problem. The AHP hierarchies consist of the four main criteria of transportation cost, regional characteristic, land price, labor power, and infrastructure as well as a number of sub-criteria under the main criteria A case example demonstrating the applicability of the suggested model is implemented on Expert Choice for three proposed sites. In addition such sensitivity analyses as Dynamic, performance, Gradient, and Two-dimensional analysis can be used as a strategic decision tool by showing modified priorities of the sites that can change evaluation results. Our research outcomes in this paper will provide the firms with a helpful guideline as a decision support framework.

오늘날의 기업환경에서 정보시스템은 기업에 있어서의 경쟁우위를 확보해주는 아주 보편적이고 중요한 수단이 되었다. 정보기술이 발전해 감에 따라 기업에서의 정보 시스템은 이제 거의 전분야에 걸쳐 활용되고 있다. 독자적으로 확대 구축된 정보시스템 간에는 상호통합의 필요성이 증가 되었다. 최근에 등장한 기업자원계획 시스템은 전사 자원을 통합 관리하여 생산성과 효율성을 크게 향상시켜 줄 뿐 만 아니라, 패키지로 되어 있어 단기간에 구축이 가능한 획기적인 정보 시스템으로 많은 기업들의 주목을 받고 있다. 기업자원계획 시스템을 구축하려면 리엔지니어링이 필연적으로 따르게 된다. 많은 기업들이 정보 시스템의 구축 또는 그를 이용한 리엔지니어링을 단지 비용절감이라는 소극적인 목적을 위한 수단으로 인식한데서 문제가 있었다. 리엔지니어링은 단지 업무 프로세스를 재구축하는 것이 아니라, 기업의 문화자체를 바꾸게 되고 기존의 장점까지도 버려야 할지도 모른다. 기업문화는 프로세스라기 보다는 인적자원의 몫이다. 리엔지니어링에 따른 종업원들의 혼란과 저항은 정보시스템 구축을 어렵게 만들고, 직업문화에 악영향을 줄 수도 있다. 기업의 업무 전반을 지원해주는 통합된 시스템은 업무 대체를 위한 수단으로 보다는 기업의 경쟁력을 높여주는 전략적 목적으로의 사용이 중요하며, 경쟁우위의 지속성을 확보할 수 있어야 한다. 기업자원계획 시스템의 구축 그 자체에 관심을 가질 것이 아니라, 장기적인 관점에서 기업의 전략을 뒷받침해 줄 수 있는 sustainer로서의 역할을 염두에 두어야 한다. 정보 시스템이 경쟁우위를 지속시켜주는 역할을 할 수 있으려면 인적자원에 대한 관심이 무엇보다도 중요하다.
Composing a Structured Model from Validated Submodels for Effective Model Management

Structured modeling provides a formal mathematical framework, language, and computer-based environment for conceiving, representing, and manipulating a wide variety of models. It provides an natural framework for integrated modeling owing to its explicit representation power for computational dependencies among submodels. Nevertheless, it doesn't seem to offer a systematic way of composing way, this paper discusses three key issues: (1) Genus structure of validated submodel, (2) Storing method of genus structure, and (3) Integration of genus structures to generate a new genus structure. To visualize the approach, a programming module is developed to implement the step-by-step integration.

This paper reports a study that examined database modeling issues that enhance performance of relational databases. First, we have surveyed and classified performance-enhancing modeling methods in terms of table size, relationships, index usage, and so on. Second, we have carried out an actual experiment on selected strategies in Oracle DBMS environment. The performance metric is elapsed time in which queries are served. Our experimental results are analyzed. Based on our experiment results, we also propose new modeling methods to enhance system performance in relational databases.
