        경남 지방의 떫은감에서 유래한 한약재 시체(枾蔕, 감꼭지)의 탄닌산 함량 분석

        A persimmon is mainly raised in Korea, Japan, and China compared with other fruits; the sweet persimmon is a native species and the astringent persimmon is a wild species. Astringent persimmons contain tannic acid which is the water solubility compound tastes astringent. Also, it has functions such as anti-aging and anticancer effect. From old times, the stalk of astringent persimmon has been called Kaki Calyx and used in traditional Korean medicine (TKM). In TKM, the stalk of astringent persimmon is known as useful medicinal herb which is effective on bed-wetting, vomit, and hiccupping. The materials collected from three different geographic area (Gojongsi from Sancheong, Danseongsi from Sancheong, and Bansi from Miryang) with different kinds of cultivar. The samples were provided from Frorest Environment Research Institute in Gyeongsangnam-do. These materials were separated from astringent persimmon to its stalks and peels. Then 70% ethanol extraction from each samples to analyze tannic acid were performed. As a result, tannic acid were included in all of samples and the persimmons of Bansi from Miryang had high percentage of the content compared with other samples. This study would provide useful information about tannic acid content to contribute chances for increasing the income of farmers through utilizing technology development of astringent persimmon. To future study, we will be required to extend any other area and species. We have plan to analyze tannic acid content depending on sampling times and various symptoms.

        오미자에 의한 천왕보심단의 HT22 신경세포의 세포자멸사 증가

        We studied the effect of Cheonwangbosim-dan (CWBSD) on oxidative stress-induced apoptosis in HT22 cells. We examined the effect of CWBSD on oxidative stress induced by H2O2, glutamate, or RSL3 in HT22 cells. In addition, 14 herbal medicines constituting CWBSD were also performed. The antioxidant activities of CWBSD were assessed by measuring free radical scavenging activities on ABTS and DPPH. Flow cytometry and fluorescence microscopy confirmed the increase in intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS). As a result, There was no toxicity in HT22 cells in CWBSD (25, 50, 100 μg/ml), and antioxidant activity was confirmed in DPPH and ABTS assays. In the environment given oxidative stress (H2O2, glutamate, RSL3), treatment with CWBSD increased intracellular ROS of HT22 cells and increased LDH release, thereby reducing cell viability. Among the 14 herbal medicines of CWBSD, Schizandrae Fructus decreased the cell viability, and 13 herbal medicines except Schizandrae Fructus had no effect. Schizandrae Fructus is thought to be toxic to HT22 cells against oxidative stress.

        자몽과 고혈압 약물의 상호작용에 대한 고찰

        This study aimed to point out interactions between grapefruit and antihypertensive agents by reviewing published journal articles. Eight electronic databases were searched to identify literatures. Clinical and experimental studies on grapefruit interaction with antihypertensive drugs were selected by two independent researchers. Data were extracted by synergism/inhibition, relevant substances and mechanisms, and adverse events. Furanocoumarins, cytochrome P450 inhibition were analyzed to check out grapefruit-drug interactions. Fifty nine studies on interactions between grapefruit and 16 drugs were analyzed. Evident interactions were reported among grapefruit and most calcium channel blockers or beta blockers. Reversible inhibition of bergamottin and 6',7'-dihydroxybergamottin on cytochrome P450, P-glycoprotein, organic anion transporting polypeptide were mechanisms of interactions. Age-specific and genetic differences of clinical outcomes and adverse events were observed. Grapefruit interacts with antihypertensive agents and its results could induce negative clinical outcome. Furanocoumarins regulate drug absorption pathway that result citrus-drug interactions. Medical professionals should give information about food-drug interactions to their patients and caregivers.

        생약 자원으로서 荏子葉의 품질관리를 위한 주요 페놀성분 동시분석

        The leaves of Perilla frutescens Britton var. japonica Hara were an annual and mint herb to have various potential functions. Phenolic components related to the antioxidant activity of multi-functions were analyzed for the quality control in P. frutescens leaves. Phenolic contents such as phenolic acid, cinnamic acid derivatives and flavonoids were shown from the methanol aqueous extracts using HPLC. The separation was performed on a reverse-phase C18 column using mobile phase composed of aqueous formic acid/acetonitrile mixtures at a flow rate of 0.5 mL·min-1. The detection was carried out on a DAD detector. This method was validated include selectivity, linearity, precision, accuracy, limit of detection and limit of quantitation.

        한약재 정력자(葶藶子, Lepidii seu Descurainiae Semen) 기원식물에 대한 형태학적 감별 연구

        Lepidii seu Descurainiae Semen, the seeds of Lepidium apetalum Willdenow and Descurainia sophia Webb. ex Parntl., is an important herbal medicine in Asian countries. Since the morphological similarity of the original plants and seeds, this herbal medicines were adulterated with the seeds of several other plant species including closely related species in the same genus. However, it is very difficult to distinguish authentic herbal medicines from adulterants at the species levels. In this study, we comparatively analyzed the external morphology of two authentic (P. apetalum and D. sophia) and four adulterant plant species (L. virginicum, Draba nemorosa, Erysimum cheiranthoides, and E. macilentum) and summarized the taxonomic classification keys to identify the species based on the morphological characteristics of plant aerial parts. These results could provide useful information for identifying authentic plant species for Lepidii seu Descurainiae Semen.

        본초현장연구를 통해 본 한약자원생산에 관한 소고

        The use of medicinal plants as a fundamental component of the health care system is one of the oldest and most assorted of the therapeutic systems in the world today. In the last decades, several plants have been confirmed to have chemopreventive and chemotherapeutic phytochemicals for various communicable and non-communicable diseases. More importantly, it is estimated that over 60% of the currently used drugs are from natural sources. Unfortunately, in the last few decades climate change has led to extreme environmental conditions that have negatively impacted the growth and biomass of most medicinal plants. Furthermore, these extreme environmental conditions have not only led to a reduction in some wild medicinal plant species population but also to complete extinction of some of the vital medicinal plant species. To mitigate this problem, basic in vitro propagation geared towards obtaining numerous, quality progeny and subsequent biomass increment of these medicinal plants was conducted during the Laboratory and herbology study at UST-KIOM campus. Different explants - callus, axillary buds, and somatic embryos were used during the in vitro propagation process. The in vitro propagated plants with increased biomass were then acclimatized to enhance physiological modification. This study therefore provides basic information on the in vitro propagation techniques and biomass increment for plants which are under threat of extinction and can be used as a basis upon which future researches can be conducted to enhance development of stable production and supply of highly competitive traditional medicine resources.

        글루타메이트에 의한 산화적 스트레스를 받은 HT22 세포주에서 원화 메탄올 추출물의 신경세포 보호 활성

        Purpose: In this study, the neuroprotective effect of the methanol extract of Daphne genkwa Flos (DGF-ex) against glutamate-induced neurotoxicity was studied in mouse hippocampal HT22 cells. Materials and Methods: We conducted the cytoprotective effect of DGF-ex against a 24-hour-stress-induced condition by glutamate in HT22 cells. The inhibitory effect of DGF-ex on cellular necrosis and apoptosis and ROS (reactive oxygen species) was observed using fluorescence microscopy. To further clarify its antioxidant efficacy, assays on SOD (superoxide dismutase) regulation and DPPH/ABTS radical scavenging ability were also conducted. A chemical profile of DGF-ex was also obtained via UPLC analysis. Results: Pretreatment with DGF-ex significantly reduced glutamate-induced loss of cell viability and release of LDH (lactate dehydrogenase). DGF-ex showed similar effects to the antioxidant quercetin (15μM) in the evaluation of DPPH/ABST radical scavenging activity and SOD activity evaluation. In addition, DGF-ex remarkedly downregulated the glutamate-induced programmed HT22 cell death, which was shown in the normalization of the cellular necrosis and apoptosis ratio. Conclusion: These results exhibit DGF-ex has the ability to protect against glutamate-induced cytotoxicity in the HT22 cell line via the drug candidate’s antioxidant capacity. This research confirmed the DGF-ex as a valuable drug candidate for the prevention and treatment of oxidative stress-mediated neurodegenerative diseases.

        The records of cities and municipalities are integrated data with records on humanities and natural environment including history, society, culture, geography, vegetation and climate. They are highly valuable and important data in assessing the folk remedies using the unique medicinal herbs of several regions. Many data have been acquired through collection, analysis of a diverse range data in the corresponding regions, and discovered through actual survey on the local residents. In this study, the current status of 700 medicinal herbs used for treatment of 20 types of diseases for which these medicinal herbs are effective through the actual survey of the Records in Gongju City, Chungcheongnam Province, Korea.
