Performance Model for Container Terminal Design Based on Integrated Performance Analysis

One of the important issues in container terminal design problem could bethe system configuration, reliability, availability and maintainability (RAM) to reduce the operating cost and to increase the system performance.This paper is concerned on the efficiency analysis of container terminal system performance. Most of conventional researches on the container terminal performance are concerned on the local optimizing using cross-sectional data which are not cover the total optimizing. In this study,we develop a framework for container terminal performance to get a best practice to support the total decision making and to provide a benchmarking for decision making. We used an integrated analysis method and a four-step framework: (1) the first step, system configuration, (2) the second step, reliability, (3) the third step, system life cycle costing, and (4) the final step, integrated performance analysis with a dynamic environment. Also we demonstrated example results of Busan port container terminal cases.

The numerical study on the natural convection inside the L-shaped enclosure having a protrusion of which left wall is maintained at $T_c$. Right wall and part of the bottom and 2nd floor are at $T_h$ has been performed numerically for aspect ratio A=1, geometrically different cases and for $Ra=5{\times}10^5{\sim}2{\times}10^6$. As the L-shaped of the enclosure goes thicker horizontally and the smaller 2nd floor's length, the mean Nusselt number at the left cold wall becomes smaller for same Ra, and there is little influence of the increase of Ra on mean Nusselt number.
A Study on improving the Per formance of Transshipment Cargo System at the Por t of Busan

This study will examine the consolidation that is occurring in the shipping industry and its effectson Busan’s status as a key transshipment hub in Southeast Asia as well as what measures the portmust implement to attract transshipment traffic. With this in mind heading forward, trends intransshipment cargo, problems facing the port, as well as the current status of transshipment volumesat the Port of Busan must be fully understood so that thorough research can be done into appropriatemeasures to stimulate growth and attract cargo traffic. In this study, We analyze the current problemsand status of transshipment cargo at Busan Port and factors affecting the competitiveness of transshipmentcargo at Busan New Port, Korea’s key import/export gateway, have been examined. We show theStrategies to Attract Transshipment Cargo at the Busan New Port which is to become a an optimaltransshipment port, a port’s internal environment including the scale and location of its hinterland, facilitiesand tariffs as well as the external environment including global networks and logistics IT managementmust be carefully considered as they are all key actors affecting cargo volumes.

The supplier selection problem becomes a strategic issue to improve the efficiency of port logistics industries. This paper develops a decision model considering multi-criteria decision making problems to select the logistics supplier among many alternatives on the port logistics. This paper develops an evaluation model based on the analytic hierarchy process and fuzzy set ranking methodologies. The AHP is used to analyze the structure of selection problems and to determine weights of the criteria and fuzzy set method is used to find the final ranking of suggested selection problems. We applied the method to a sample example among supplier selection problems and show the result.

As the container market is expected to continue to increase, the volume of containers will increase, and the volume of empty containers will be proportional to this. Imbalances between imports and exports in each country have emerged, and the issue of collection and storage of empty containers is becoming more and more important, and it is necessary to appropriately deal with container demand for container presents. Therefore, in this paper, we are trying to develop a website that provides various empty container information and provides empty container leasing services based on this information. Through the development of these empty container websites, we would like to make empty container leasing and operations more efficient, improve empty container-related services and reduce costs.

The flow characteristics of impinging jet flow are affected greatly by nozzle plate to distance. An sharp edge nozzle was used to achieve uniform mean velocity at the nozzle inlet, and its diameter is 10 mm(d). Therefore, the flow characteristics on the impinging jet plate can be changed largely by the control of main flow. In the parent study, we investigate the effects of main flow length, its variable is nozle plate to distances(12d, 10d, 8d, 6d and 4d)
Signalman Action Analysis for Container Crane Controlling

Human action tracking plays an important place in human-computer-interaction, human action tracking is a challenging task because of the exponentially increased computational complexity in terms of the degrees of freedom of the object and the severe image ambiguities incurred by frequent self-occlusions. In this paper, we will propose a novel method to track human action, in our technique, a dynamic background estimation algorithm will be applied firstly. Based on the estimated background, we then extract the human object from the video sequence, and the skeletonization method and Hough transform method will be used to detect the main structure of human body and each part rotation angle. The calculated rotation angles will be used to control a crane in the port, thus we can just control the container crane by using signalman body. And the experimental results can show that our proposed method can get a preferable result than the conventional methods such as: MIT, JPF or MFMC.
