        소집단 협동학습이 학습동기와 영어 듣기능력 향상에 미치는 영향

        This study is to investigate the effects of the small group cooperation activities on various aspects of English learning motivation and listening proficiency of Korean university students. The relationship learning motivation and listening proficiency was examined, Also the small group cooperation activity and listening proficiency did. It was also explored that how learning motivation was influenced by the small group cooperation activity. The participants completed English learning motivation questionnaire and the small group cooperation activity questionnaire. They also took TOEIC twice during a semester as measurement of their English listening proficiency. The results of listening proficiency and learning motivation were influenced by the small group cooperation activities. The prominent factors for learning motivation were 'instrumental', achievement, and attitude on foreigners. Except for 'integrative', other factors of motivation were positively affected. Thus, to improve students' learning motivation and English listening proficiency, teachers should encourage students to participate in small group cooperative activities. There was a limitation of research, which was lack of participants, few chance of study. Based on the results, pedagogical suggestions were presented.

        한국인 자폐증과 Chromosome 5p14에 존재하는 CDH9, CDH10 유전자 다형성의 연관성 연구

        Objectives:The region of chromosome 5p14 is known to be associated with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The cadherin9 (CDH9) and cadherin10 (CDH10) genes are located in the region of chromosome 5p14 and reported to be associated with ASD in the Caucasian population. We performed an association study to identify if single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) located on the CDH9 and CDH10 genes are associated in the Korean population. Methods:Genomic DNA was extracted from the blood of 214 patients with ASD and 258 controls. SNPs selected from two genes were genotyped using an Illumina Golden-Gate Genotyping assay with VeraCode technology. Statistical analysis was performed using SAS and Plink software. Results:All controls and ASD patients were in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium. In the results of logistic regression analyses for the genotype model and the chi-square test for the allele model, we found that SNPs on the CDH9 and CDH10 genes were not associated with ASD. Conclusion:Our data suggests that the CDH9 and CDH10 genes are not associated with ASD in the Korean population.

        학령전 아동을 위한 애착이야기 그림검사의 개발

        The purpose of this study is to develop a pictorial attachment story test for preschool children. In the pilot and preliminary study, a set of ten pictures depicting attachment story stem and six coding scales were developed. In checking for validity, the test was measured for psychometric properties using samples from 152 children aged 4-6 in the general and clinical population. The results are as follows. First, by testing for internal consistency, inter-rater reliability, and test-retest reliability, the study confirmed the stability and reliability of the pictorial attachment story test. Second, the pictorial attachment story test appears to be a valid measure of the construct of attachment representation. The result of confirmatory factor analysis showed that it had sound construct validity. In addition, comparison with the contrasted group provides additional evidence of construct validity. In summary, there is sufficient evidence that this instrument is a developmentally appropriate assessment tool to measure attachment representation in preschool children. The pictorial attachment story test showed encouraging psychometric properties. As a tool in clinically relevant research, it could provide a window into a child s experience and expectation of caregiver s availability and responsiveness.

        이야기의 중요성 판단에 미치는 정보의 비일관성 효과

        The present study investigated how the inconsistency between episodes in a story affects judgment of the importance of a sentence. In experiment I, 120 college students read 4 stories containing 3 episodes and judged each of the sentences, one after another. The results of the importance rating showed that adult subjects were sensitive to inconsistency between episodes. The analysis of episodes revealed a significant difference between episodes in all of the 4 stories, with lowest importance ratings given to the inconsistent episodes. In experiment II, 220 children were sampled from a private school of middle S.E.S.Status. 2nd-, 4th- and 6th- graders read 2 stories, and judged the importance of the sentences. It was found that children were less sensitive to inconsistencies in a story than adults. Younger children had more difficulty in the integration of inconsistent information. Especially in the 2nd episode, the importance rating was affected by grade [F(2,2627)=195.52, p<.01], suggesting that 6th graders were more sensitive to inconsistencies than the younger children. In contrast to adults, 2nd graders gave high importance ratings to inconsistent sentences as well as to consistent sentences.

        초기 인지능력과 유아기 지능 간의 관련성

        Objective: This study was conducted to investigate the relationship between early mental development and preschool intelligence. Methods: A total of 51 children were administered with the Cognitive scale and Language scale of the Korean version of the Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development-3rd Edition (K-Bayley-III); after one year, K-WPPSI was used to measure preschool intelligence. Results: First, the K-Bayley-III Cognitive and Language scales showed a significant correlation with Performance, Verbal, and Full-Scale IQ (PIQ, VIQ, and FSIQ) in the K-WPPSI. Second, the strongest predictive variable for VIQ was language development, followed by cognitive development in the K-Bayley-III . In addition, the predictive variable that had the strongest influence on PIQ was the K-Bayley-III cognitive development index. Finally, the Cognitive and Language scales of the K-Bayley-III had an appropriate level of discrimination, and the cut-off composite scores of the K-Bayley-III were also adjusted 2-3 points below 85 for predicting at-risk delay, as defined by the K-WPPSI. Conclusion: This study demonstrated the continuity of cognitive performance across early childhood. The K-Bayley-III , which includes the Cognitive and Language scales from the Mental scale of the Bayley Scales of Infant Development II (BSID-II ), is a useful and valid test for predicting intelligence in early childhood.

        한국인 자폐스펙트럼장애와 UROC1 유전자의 연관성 분석

        Objectives:Urocanase domain containing 1 (UROC1) has never been studied in prior studies on autism spectrum disorders (ASDs). UROC1 causes urocanic aciduria, one of the symptoms of which is mental retardation. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between the UROC1 gene and ASDs in a Korean population. Methods:A total of 258 control and 214 patients with ASD were used as subjects of this study. SNPs selected from UROC1 were genotyped using Illumina Golden-Gate Genotyping assay with VeraCode® technology. Statistical analysis was performed using SAS and Plink software. Results:We found no association of the 12 SNPs in the UROC1 gene with ASDs in a Korean population. Conclusion:Our study suggests that the 12 SNPs (11 SNPs and 1 SNP in the intron and 3’UTR region, respectively) in the UROC1 were not associated with ASDs in a Korean population. Further study on the exon region of UROC1 is needed.

        한국인 남성에서 자폐스펙트럼장애와 DLX6 유전자 단일염기다형성간 연관성 연구

        Objectives:Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that is characterized by abnormalities of social functioning, communication and behavior. The association of the 7q21-34 region with ASD has been reported. The DLX6 gene, which is located at the 7q22 region, is one of the positional and functional candidate genes for ASD. We found that there is no association between DLX6 polymorphisms and ASD in the Korean male population. Methods:We selected three single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) that might be implicated in the change of the DLX6 gene expression. The genomic DNA was collected from the venous blood of 147 male controls and 179 male patients with ASD. The genotypes of the selected SNPs were determined using the Illumina GoldenGate assay, and the statistical analyses were performed using HapAnalyzer software and SAS Enterprise. Results:We found no association of the three SNPs in the DLX6 gene with ASD in the Korean male population. Conclusion:Our study suggests that the three SNPs in the DLX6 gene are not associated with ASD, and we need to analyze the previously reported regions for their associations with ASD.

        성 (性) 고정관념이 정보처리에 미치는 영향 : 선택적 주의집중을 중심으로 with the mechanism of the selective attention

        The thesis of the present paper is that the concept of sex-stereotypes is in close connection with the information processing. The stereotypes are assumed to function as schemas that serve to organize and structure informations. We must examine the functions and biases associated with these schemas in order to explain the effects of sex-stereotypes, because the sex schemas are basically bound up with sex-related information processing. To describe the relation between the level of sex stereotyping and the style of the information processing model is found to be useful for explaining the many results of the information processing by sex schemas. Subjects of fourth grade (N=48) listen the stories depicting the activities about sex roles. These activities in the test materials consist of the series of events about every day affair, that is, the script. after the listening, memory for activities is measured using a recognition test. As predicted the result in control group revealed the pattern of information distortion through the sex schema responding the items of the un-presented sex role consistent activities. This tendency was systematically decreased by encouraging the subjects to switch the attention toward the event itself in the experimental condition. Such instruction of attention-switching must be made to facilitate the accurate data-driven information processing. There was no sex differences in the both of two conditions (P<.01). the sex of subject didn't influence the amount of memory distortion as well as the score of the recognition. Subjects were found to adhere more to their own conceptions of sex-stereotypes in the natural situation rather than the given specific condition. By switching the attention toward the data itself, it must be possible to focus the accurate information not being based on the conception of sex-stereotypes (P<.01) Three major results were found in this study. First, male and female subjects gave sex stereotype responses primarily in the natural situation. Second, the expected sex stereotype relaxation was observed in the attention-switching condition when emphasizing the events. Third, there was no sex differences in the style of information processing. These conclusions suggest that the difference information processing may be based do not the sex of subjects but the level of sex stereotyping. The results of this study show the critical implication about the possibility of the change in the social prejudice about women. In order to verify the other factors in the information processing based on the sex stereotypes, further research will be necessary through the comparison to this study.
