        Terahertz spectroscopy approach of the fiber orientation influence on CFRP composite solid laminates

        Terahertz ray (T-ray) imaging applications have provided one of the most promising new powerful nondestructive evaluation techniques,and new application systems are under process development for area applications. Detecting flaws and defects in fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) composite laminates due to flaws in FRP composite laminate that affect laminate properties, including stiffness, strength,and thermal behavior, is very important. In this study, a new time-domain spectroscopy system was utilized for detecting and evaluating the flaws in FRP solid composite laminates. Extensive experimental measurements in reflection mode were made to map out T-ray images. In particular, electromagnetic properties, such as refractive index, were estimated in this characterization procedure. The estimates of properties were in good agreement with known data. Using these characteristic material properties, we successfully demonstrated the characteristics of the T-ray behavior propagating through FRP composites. Furthermore, layup effect and flaws of FRP composite laminates were observed in reflection mode, and limitations were discussed in the T-ray processing.

        Pitch-catch ultrasonic study on unidirectional CFRP composite laminates using Rayleigh wave transducers

        The importance of carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP) has been generally recognized, and CFRP composite laminates have become widely used. Thus, a nondestructive technique would be very useful for evaluating CF/epoxy composite laminates. A pitch-catch UT signal is more sensitive than is a normal incidence backwall echo of a longitudinal wave in composites. The depth of the sampling volume where the pitch-catch UT signal came from is relatively shallow, but the depth can be increased by increasing the separation distance of the transmitting and receiving probes. Moreover, a method is utilized to determine the porosity content of a composite lay-up by processing micrograph images of the laminate. The porosity content of a composite structure is critical to the overall strength and performance of the structure. The image processing method developed utilizes software to process micrograph images of the test sample. The results from the image processing method are compared with existing data. Beam profile is characterized in unidirectional CFRP using pitch-catch Rayleigh probes. The one-sided and two-sided pitch-catch techniques are utilized to produce C-scan images with the aid of an automatic scanner. The pitch-catch ultrasonic signal corresponds with the simulated results of unidirectional CFRP composites.

        어선(안강망) 안정성능 향상을 위한 복원성 평가기법 개발

        International Maritime Organizatin(IMO) has been chosen some of agreements for regulating the international stability criteria of fishing vessels and recommended that each goverment adopts theirs into the domestic law. As a result, 77/93 Fishing Safety Agreement was ratified. Among the above agreement, contents of stability was not only applied to domestic law, but also strenghten considerably compared with existing stability criteria. And even if the calculation guide of stability with recommendations was regualted, Analysis of stability on domestic fishing vessels never have been used according to such a caculation method. Moreover, the caculation of stability criteria caused by strong wind, rolling effect and deck inflow was not considered in the existing basic design program. Therefore, the development of stability criteria program available for such a caculation has been of vital impotance. This research has developed a stability criteria program under 77/93 Fishing Safety Agreement. Also through development of stability criteria program, the stability performance of fishing vessel with 69ton stow-nesting was evaluated.

        Terahertz Radiation NDE of Composite Materials for Wind Turbine Applications

        Nondestructive testing technique using T-ray (terahertz ray) has received more interest as a new capability tool in engineeringapplication. So, T-ray time-domain spectroscopy was used for inspecting and evaluating physical property and defect characteristicsin FRP composite materials for a use of wind energy. First of all, a general refraction mode and transmission mode was utilized forcalculating a refractive index (n) based on the well-machined sample. In order to obtain the terahertz ray refractive index, a refractivemode and a transmission mode technique was defined for solving a refractive coefficient (n), with which refractive index of GFRPcomposites, balsa and epoxy for a use of wind turbine blades could be obtained. A method of wind turbine blade composites havingone and two saw-cuts delaminations and some angles/ directions was suggested based on the E-field vector. The time of flight in Trayusing evaluating a T-ray transmission mode agreed with that using T-ray time-domain spectroscopy with the wind turbine blade. Also, in CFRP composites, T-ray propagation is limited because the carbon fibers are blocking the T-ray. Therefore, we have analyzeddifference between E-field vector in T-ray and the carbon fiber direction. Also, it was found that a T-ray time domain data in thickGFRP composite laminates seemed to show peaks with a regular spacing (Δt) which was obvious with the close relation between TOFand FFT.

        24m미만 소형어선의 저항.복원성을 고려한 선형결정 프로그램 개발

        As far as fishing vessels are concerned, there are two aspects to be noted: One is the stability which is the greatest concern for the safety of fishing vessels, as the corresponding number of casualty is overwhelming compared with those of other types of vessels. To flake it worse, the feature of casualty is rather catastrophic, accompanying major fatalities. The other aspect is related to the needs of improvement of resistance performance along with the hull form development. In particular, small fishing vessels, such as under 24m in length, which is dominant size in the type, need further scrutiny to enhance the qualities mentioned above, as relevant standards/criteria on the issues are not shown clearly and, therefore, implemented for the design or assessment.

      • 중년여성의 운동유형에 따른 시기별 체력의 변화

        This study performed to compare the physical fitness following to the types of exercise program. Exercise program were divided to three types as aerobic, anaerobic, and combined exercise program. Subjects were divided to normal and obese middle-aged women, and these subjects were divided to 3 groups by the types of exercise program, respectively(Total 6 groups). Test items related to physical fitness were measured once every two weeks of eight weeks. Muscular strength, muscular endurance, and power showed a significant increase(p<0.05) after performing of aerobic exercise and combined exercise program as compared to pre-test in normal and obese groups. And physical efficiency index of Harvard step test shoed a significant increase(p<0.05) after performing of aerobic exercise and combined exercise program as compared to pre-test in normal and obese groups. In these results, combined program with aerobic and anaerobic exercise could be arised the improvement of cardiopulmonary function and flexibility, although anaerobic exercise could be arised the enhancement of muscular function. So combined exercise program with aerobic and anaerobic exercise could be suggested the effective trials for the healthful life of normal and obese middle-aged women.

        소형어선 복원성 판정 기준에 관한 연구

        The majority of fishing vessels(under 20 tonnages) in Korea have a high casualty accident of the flood and capsizing occurred by lack of stability. Actually, it is so difficult to make out the data of inclining and stability tests of small fishing vessels after building, because most of them were built on experiences of manufacturer. According to above reasons, the aim of this study is an attempt to propose a stability criteria of small fishing vessels as follows: Firstly, it is examined that the stability is driven from a transverse metacenter height of actual ships, which is able to obtain a basic drawing and stability data. Secondly, it is examined the heeling at high-speed turning, and the period of rolling according to B/D(breadth/depth). Finally, it is suggested the stability criteria by using a dynamic state which is applied in passenger boat and fishing vessels over 24 meters.
