The selective extraction of Fe(Ⅲ), Ni(Ⅱ) and Zn(Ⅱ) from dilute aqueous solution was studied with acidic extractant, TOA and DP-8R through a HFSLM module. Extraction by HFSLM modules are fast because of a large surface area per volume, a., therefore the product K·a is often 10 to 100 times larger than in conventional extraction apparatuses. In this paper, distribution coefficient, m was evaluated for Fe(Ⅲ)-Ni(Ⅱ)-Zn(Ⅱ)-TOA and Fe(Ⅲ)-Ni(Ⅱ)-Zn(Ⅱ)-DP-8F. From the measurements of overall resistance to mass transfer and of overall mass transfer coefficient for the various systems, determined the controlling step for mass transfer rate. In this paper, suggesting that resistance to mass transfer in the aqueous feed may dominate the overall resistance. Correlating equation in the modules mere as follows. o-Xylene-ethylacetate 혼합용매를 이용한 초산수용액의 액-액평형에 관한 연구

Due to the rising cost of energy, new separation processes based on extraction are becoming more attractive than before. The phase equilibria of quaternary liquid-liquid extraction(LLE) system composed o-xylene-water-acetic acid-ethylacetate was investigated. The purpose of this study is to determine and describe LLE data for the quaternary system containing acetic acid aqueous solution and solvent at 25℃. We investigated that the selection of the optimum solvent to separate acetic acid from aqueous solution. The distribution and selectivity for quaternary system o-xylene(1)-water(2)-acetic acid(3)-ethylacetate(4) are increased with addition of o-xylene. These experimental tie-line data are also compared with the values predicted by UNIFAC model. It is shown that UNIFAC model is capable of predicting the tie-line in these quaternary systems within an average root mean square deviation of 4.07㏖%.

Due to the rising cost of energy, new separation process based on extraction is becoming more attractive than before. Thus, the need for calculating and predicting liquid-liquid equilibrium (LLE) has very much increased. The separation of mixture that has similarly boiling point, forms azeotropic mixture and has higher boiling point, is impossible to separate by distillation. Thus, this case sometimes used extraction. The experimental binodal curves, tie-lines, plait point, distribution coefficient, and selectivity were determined for the ternary systems of butyric acid-water with ethyl acetate, isopropyl acetate, methyl ethyl ketone, and ethyl ether as solvent at 25℃. The experimental tie-line data were correlated with the NRTL, UNIQUAC and the parameter and the calculated values of tie-line were predicted.
