        Selective Oxidation of H2S to Ammonium Thiosulfate and Elemental Sulfur Using Mixtures of V-Bi-O and Sb2O4

        The selective oxidation of hydrogen sulfide in the presence of excess water and ammonia was investigated by using vanadium-bismuth based mixed oxide catalysts. Synergistic effect on catalytic activity was observed for the mechanical mixtures of V-Bi-O and Sb2O4. Temperature programmed oxidation (TPO), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and two separated bed reactivity test results supported the role of Sb2O4 for reoxidizing the reduced VBi- O during the reaction.

        Aliquat 336 상이동 촉매하에서 디페닐메탄의 산화에 의한 벤조페논의 합성

        본 연구는 Aliquat 336 상이동 촉매와 potassium tert-butoxide 염기를 사용하여 상온에서 디페닐메탄올 산화시켜 벤조페논을 합성하는데 관한 것이다. 4급 암모늄염 촉매 존재하에서는 벤조페논이 합성되지 않는다고 보고된 다른 연구결과와는 달리 Aliquat 336 촉매로 상온에서 30% 이상의 벤조페논 수율을 얻었다. Aliquat 336 촉매의 양과 potassium tert-butoxide의 양이 증가할수록 디페닐메탄의 전화율이 증가하였다. 산소의 분압이 높을수록 유기용매에 녹아 있는 산소의 농도가 증가하여 전화율과 선택도가 상승하였다. 또한 A1iquat 336 촉매의 역할이 포함된 반응 메카니즘을 제시하였다. Synthesis of benzophenone by oxidation of diphenylmethane at room temperature is studied using Aliquat 336 as phase transfer catalyst and potassium tert-butoxide as base. No other study has shown that diphenylmethane can be oxidized to benzophenone with quaternary ammonium salt as phase transfer catalyst. However, in presence of Aliquat 336, higher than 30% of benzophenone was yielded. The conversion of diphenylmethane was increased with increasing amount of Aliquat 336 and potassium tart-butoxide. Higher partial pressure of oxygen favored conversion of diphenylmethane and selectivity of benzophenone by increasing the concentration of oxygen in organic solvent. A reaction mechanism involving the role of Aliquat 336 was also proposed.

        폴리에틸렌글리콜 상이동 촉매를 이용한 디페닐메탄의 산화반응

        보통의 산화조건에서는 산화되기 어려운 diphenylmethane (pKa = 33.4)을 상이동 촉매와 고체인 potassium tert-butoxide를 염기로 사용하여 상온과 상압에서 산화시켜 benzophenone을 합성하였다. 4급염인 benzylytriethylammonium chloride, tetrabutyl ammonium bisulphate, tetrabutylphosponium chloride 등은 이 반응에 활성이 없었으나 18-crown-6와 폴리에틸렌글리콜은 촉매활성을 나타내었다. 같은 무게나 같은 몰수의 폴리에틸렌글리콜을 상이동 촉매로 사용한 경우 모두에서 diphenylmethane의 전화율은 폴리에틸렌글리콜의 사슬길이가 길수록 증가하였다. Diphenylmethane의 반출속도는 교반속도가 클수록 증가하였고, 비양성자성 용매인 DMF를 사용한 경우가 벤젠을 용매로 사용한 경우보다 높은 반응속도를 나타내었다. Diphenylmethane (pKa = 33.4), which is difficult to be oxidized in normal oxidation conditions, was oxidized to produce benzophenone at ambient temperature and atmospheric pressure by using phase transfer catalysts and solid potassium tert-butoxide as base. Quaternary salt such as benzyltriethylammonium chloride, tetrabutyl ammonium bisulfate, tetrabutylphosponium chloride, are ineffective catalysts for this reaction, but 18-crown-6 and polyethylene glycols showed catalytic activity. The conversion of diphenylmethane was increased with increasing chain length of PEG molecules when they are used as phase transfer catalysts both in equal molar and equal weight basis. The conversion of diphenylmethane was increased with the agitation speed, and aprotic solvent like DMF showed higher reaction rate compared with benzene.

        Aliquat 336 상이동 촉매하에서 디페닐메탄의 산화반응에 관한 속도론적 연구

        A mechanism for the synthesis of benzophenone from oxidation of diphenylmethane under Aliquit 336 phase transfer catalyst is investigated in this study. The production rate of benzophenone increased with the increasing amount of Aliquat 336 and potassium term-butoxide. At tow concentrations of diphenylmethane and oxygen, the reaction order was first with the concentrations of diphenylmethane and oxygen respectively, but it approached to zero order at high concentrations. Tert-butyl alcohol, by-product of the reaction, inhibited the formation of benzophenone. Experimental results fit fairly well to the following initial reaction rate equation derived from reaction mechanism.

        상지수술을 위한 Lidocaine 정맥마취경험

        During thte past two years, we had 80 cases of intravenous lidocaine anesthesia for upper limb operations. Per kilogram of body weight, we usually used 1.0~3.0mg of 0,5~0.8% lidocaine and a pressure of 200~300 mmHg(about 100 mmHg higher than the patients systolic blood pressure) by means of an Inflato-Matic dual cuff tourniquet which was also connected with an Inflato-Matic 2, 000 Tourniquet Regulator and oxygen tank. Analgesia occurred about 5 10 minutes after injection with relative satisfaction and, fortunately, no kind of serious complications ensued after releasing the tourniquet. It is not only a simple technique and of low cost to give the anesthesia to the patient(in-patient or out-pati-ent), but also it is possible to perform anywhere and at any time without serious complications or complexities of any other method of anesthesia.

        기관내삽관후 점액에 의한 기관지폐새

        To keep the patent airway during a general anesthetic procedure or when handling an unconscious patient is the most important concern as well as responsibility and/or duty of the anesthesiologist. Many delicate operations could and can be performed because of the development of anesthetic techniques aad methods, especially through the introduction of endotracheal intubations. However, at times, an endotracheal tube can unfortunately be a hazardous instrument-lethal instead of lifesaving. The authors experienced a case of left main bronchial obstruction with a thick mucus plug immediately following the completion of oro-endotracheal intubation. This was successfully remedied by direct bronchoscopic aspiration under transtracheal spray. In such a circumstance as this, the newly designed instrument, namely; a bronchofiberscope, is a real necessity.

        제세동기에 의한 심실세동치료 및 동맥혈중 기체분압 고찰 1 례

        Cardiac arrest is the most serious problem during anesthesia and surgery. Whether the heart is in ventricular fibrillation, in asystole or in EMD, the ABCDS of CPR must always be used. The authors have experience with cardiac arrest obviously due to the complexities of vagovagal reflexs and severe electrolyte imbalance, especially in potassium ions. After the diagnosis of ventricular fibrillation in our case by continuous ECG monitaring, immediate closed chest cardiac massage was carried out and the essential drugs and a DC defibrillator were used. At the first attempt, the normal sinus rhythm was restored immediately after 100 joules of DC countershock were given. We then gave another 200 J. of a second shock for recurrent VF. Thereafter, complete normal sinus rhythm was restored without dysrhythm of any kind. Simultaneously the authors also several times observed changes of arterial blood gases and pH. About ten hours later the patient regaineded consciousness completely without complications. If possible, continuous ECG monitoring during anesthesia is highly recommended because various dysrhythmias can be detected by this system.

        양측성 Pheochcomocytoma 척출술의 마취경험 1 례 보고

        An anesthetic experience with bilateral adrenalectomy for pheochromocytoma in an 18 year old male has been reported. We chose fluothane as a primary anesthetic agent for the manage- ment of anesthesia 'with relative satisfaction. The patient was treated with phenoxybenzamine for a long time (about 40 days) and also with propranolol for a few days intermtteently before induction of anesthesia. During anesthesia and operation, the highest systolic blood pressure was 180 mmHg, the lowest was 80 mmHg and some variable arrhythmias with extrasystoles were present. But these were well controlled immediately after administration of regitine and propranolol Recently some reviews of the literature on the anesthetic management of pheochromocytoma suggest that the selection of an anesthetic agent is not as important as the adequate management of the characteristics of those agents which affect the anesthetic procedures. Conclusively, we prefer to recominend that it is importamt to manage the patients with α&βadenergic ocking agents for at least several weeks pre-operatively, and to use the anesthetic agents as far as possible which do not have the sensitizing effects to catecholamine on myocardium.

      • 수열합성법에 의한 제조된 MCM-41에 담지된 4급암모늄염 촉매를 이용한 페녹시메틸에틸렌 카보네이트의 합성

        In the present study, the synthesis of phenoxy methyl ethylene carbonate (PMEC) from carbon dioxide and phenyl glycidyl ether(PGE) was investingated using mesoporous chloropropyl-methyl-MCM-41-supported quaternary ammonium salt catalysts. The influence of the amounl of modifier and quaternary ammonium salt structure on the conversion of PGE was discussed. The MCM-41-immobilized quaternary ammonium salts showed good catalytic activity even at the atmospheric pressure of carbon dioxide, and it could be reused with easy seperation.
