        Ti 조성이 (Ba, Sr) $TiO_3$계 반도체 세라믹에 미치는 영향

        (Ba0.8. Sr0.2) $TiO_3$ semiconducting ceramic with and without Ti-excess composition were prepared by various sintering temperature. The effects of Ti compositions on the samples were discussed in terms of color micro-structure resistivity at room temperature and the positive temperature coefficient resistivity(PTCR). The 1.02mol Ti-excess composition provides better PTCR properties and has uniform micrositructures with 5-7${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$.

        MnO2첨가가 Y2O3 doped BaTiO3 반도체 세라믹스의 소결 및 PTCR특성에 미치는 영향

        The influence of MnO2 on the sintering property and PTCR behavior of(Ba0.8Sr0.2)TiO2 has been investigated. And the densities, grain sizes and electrical resitivities of specimens were measured as a function of doping with Mn ion of varying concentration. The density and grain size of the sintered specimens were almost the same regardless of MnO2 addition up to 0.2mol% MnO2. But in the case of 0.25mol% MnO2 addition, abnormal grain growth was appeared. So the grain size distribution was wide and density decreased greatly. The room-temperature resistivity increased as Mn content increased and the temperature coefficient of resistivity was highest in the case of 0.15mol% MnO2 addition.

        배유과 추출물이 UVB 조사에 의한 피부 주름에 미치는 영향

        본 연구에서는 배유과 추출물을 이용하여 자외선 조사로 유도된 피부 섬유아세포에서 콜라겐 생성 관련 유전자와 세포사멸 관련 단백질 및 MMPs 단백질 변화를 확인함으로써 광노화 억제 효능을 평가하였다. 자외선을 조사한 HS 세포에서 배유과 추출물의 농도별(100, 200, 400 g/mL) 처리 시 콜라겐 생성 관련 유전자인 TGFβR1, PCOLCE, COL1의 변화를 확인한 결과, 자외선 조사로 감소한 유전자 발현을 유의적으로 증가시킴을 확인하였다. 또한 배유과 추출물의 처리는 세포사멸 관련 단백질인 p-JNK/JNK, p-c-Fos/ c-Fos, p-c-Jun/c-Jun의 인산화를 유의적으로 감소시켰으며, MMPs 단백질 활성을 유의적으로 감소시키는 것으로 확인되었다. 이상의 결과를 통하여 배유과 추출물은 자외선 조사에 의한 광노화 발생 시 나타나는 콜라겐 분해 및 세포사멸 등 주름 생성 억제에 긍정적인 효과가 있음을 확인하였고, 자외선 조사에 의한 피부 손상으로부터 피부 건강 유지에 도움을 줄 수 있는 건강기능식품을 개발하기 위한 기초로 활용 가능할 것으로 보인다. Acute and chronic ultraviolet (UV) irradiation causes inhibition of collagen synthesis, over-expression of matrix melalloproteinase (MMPs), and activation of apoptosis, leading to skin photo-aging. In this study, we investigated the protective effects of unripe pear extract (UPhenon®, UP) against ultraviolet B (UVB)-irradiated skin damage in human skin fibroblasts cell (HS27 cell). To identify the protective effects of UP against UVB irradation, transforming growth factor beta receptor 1 (TGFR1), procollagen C-endopeptidase enhancer (PCOLCE), and type Ⅰ collagen were measured by real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and the apoptosis related factors (c-Jun N-terminal kinase [JNK], c-Fos, and c-Jun), MMPs (1, 3, 9) and mothers against decapentaplegic homolog 3 (Smad3) were determined by western blot. UP significantly increased the following: mRNA expression and protein activation of TGFR1, PCOLCE, type Ⅰ collagen, and Smad3. However, UP significantly decreased the protein activation of apoptosis-related factors and MMPs. Our findings suggest that UP has a protection effects against UVB-irradiated skin photoaging in human skin fibroblasts through inhibition of apoptosis and MMPs and the activation of collagen synthesis. Thus, UP is believed to have the potential to be develop as a funtional natural food for improveing skin health.

        골관절염 모델에서 아보카도・대두불검화물의 연골 보호 및 항염 효과

        본 연구에서는 primary culture 된 연골세포 모델과 MIA로 유발한 골관절염 동물모델을 이용하여 ASU의 골관절염 예방 효과를 확인하였다. 연골세포에서 확인한 결과 ASU 처리는 세포보호 효과와 세포외기질의 합성 자극, 염증 유발 억제 효과에 의한 세포사멸을 억제하였음을 보여주었다. 동물모델에서는 micro-CT 촬영을 통한 골 상태를 측정하여 ASU 섭취가 연골손상을 억제하였음을 확인하였다. 또한 동물의 연골조직에서 ASU 섭취에 의한 세포외기질의 합성 자극, 항염 효과, 세포사멸 억제 효과를 확인하여 골관절염 증상을 완화시켰음을 확인하였다. 이러한 효과는 ASU가 직접적으로 연골세포에 영향을 미쳐 긍정적인 효능을 보였음을 알 수 있다. 따라서 ASU는 관절 및 연골 건강 기능성 소재로써 개발가능성이 충분할 것으로 판단된다. We investigated whether avocado and soybean unsaponifiables (ASU) could alleviate the symptoms of osteoarthritis, including the degradation of articular cartilage, inflammation, and apoptosis, using H2O2- or LPS-treated primary chondrocytes and a monoiodoacetate (MIA)-induced rat model of osteoarthritis. ASU treatment prevented cell death and suppressed matrix degradation by increasing the levels of aggrecan, collagen type I, collagen type Ⅱ, TIMP-1, and TIMP-3, but decreasing the levels of MMP-3 and MMP-13 in the H2O2-treated primary chondrocytes. Furthermore, ASU treatment suppressed apoptosis pathways and the activation of inflammation in the LPS-treated primary chondrocytes. In rats with MIA-induced osteoarthritis, dietary supplementation with ASU effectively reduced histological and architectural changes in the knee joint. Additionally, dietary supplementation with ASU stimulated the mRNA expressions of aggrecan, collagen type I, collagen type II, TIMP-1, and TIMP-3, but suppressed MMP mRNA expressions in articular cartilage. Also, serum levels of pro-inflammatory mediators and the levels of proteins related to inflammatory and apoptosis pathways, were decreased by dietary ASU supplementation in our MIA-induced osteoarthritis model. Based on these findings, we suggest that ASU can be considered a potential treatment for osteoarthritis.

        Artichoke Extract Directly Suppresses Inflammation and Apoptosis in Hepatocytes During the Development of Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease

        We evaluated the effect of artichoke leaf extract (ALE) on the livers of mice with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) induced by high-fat/high-fructose diet and H2O2-treated HepG2 cells, as well as the mechanism underlying its hepatoprotective effects. Supplementation with ALE suppressed the NAFLD-induced increases in serum lipids, bilirubin, gamma-glutamyl transferase, aspartate transaminase (AST), and alanine aminotransferase. In addition, we observed that supplementation with ALE attenuated the increases in antioxidant enzyme activity, mRNA levels of proinflammatory cytokines, and apoptosis signaling pathways caused by a high-fat/high-fructose diet. We found that ALE treatment suppressed inflammation and apoptosis caused by H2O2-induced oxidative stress in HepG2 cells. These findings suggest that ALE supplementation directly suppresses inflammation and apoptosis in hepatocytes during the development of NAFLD. Based on these results, we suggest that supplementation with ALE may be useful for preventing the progression of liver diseases, including hepatic steatosis and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis.

        Comparative bioavailability of synthetic vitamin C and Nutra-C (calcium ascorbate) in Korean healthy volunteers

        The purpose of this study was to compare the relative bioavailability of synthetic Vitamin C and Nutra-C® (calcium ascorbate) using a randomized parallel pharmacokinetics study design. Under fasting conditions, 20 healthy volunteers were randomly allocated to receive a single oral dose (500 mg of ascorbic acid) of either synthetic Vitamin C or Nutra-C®. Fasting blood was collected pre-dose and 1, 2, 3, 4, 7 and 10 hr post-dose. The ascorbic acid content of human serum was determined using HPLC with ultraviolet detection. The fasting serum ascorbic acid concentrations of synthetic Vitamin C and Nutra-C® were 6.734 ± 2.09 ng/mL (n = 10) and 7.542 ± 2.96 ng/mL (n = 10), respectively. The bioavailability of Nutra-C® was significantly greater (128 %, p < 0.05) than that of the synthetic Vitamin C.
