We report Raman scattering from CdSe/ZnSe self-assembled quantum dot (QD) structures to study interface (IF) phonons. The IF phonons originating from the interface between the QD and the surrounding barrier material provide optical evidence of the formation of QDs. Raman scattering measurements on 1 to 3 monolayer-thick CdSe/ZnSe heterostructures showed the presence of IF phonons, providing clear evidence of the formation of QDs.
한국인 TMD 환자에서 한국어판 RDC/TMD Axis II depression scale의 신뢰도, 타당도, 예민도, 특이도 검증에 관한 연구

The aims of this study were to investigate reliability, validity, and clinical utility(sensitivity and specificity) of the Depression Scale in a Korean version of the Research Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders(RDC/TMD) Axis II questionnaire among TMD patients. One hundreds TMD patients who visited Seoul National University Dental Hospital were administered the Korean versions of the RDC/TMD Depression Scale, the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), and the Center for Epidemiologic Studies-Depression Scale (CES-D) questionnaires. The in ternal consistency reliability using Cronbach’s alpha was assessed, Validity was assessed by Pearson’s correlations between RDC/TMD Depression Scale and BDI, and between RDC/TMD Depression Scale and CES_D. Clinical utility was calculated from the sensitivity and specificity of the RDC/TMD Depression Scale to the BDI or the CES-D questionnaires. The internal consistency reliability of the RDC/TMD Depression Scale, BDI, and CES-D was 0.96, 0.93, and 0.83, respectively using the Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of the average inter-item correlation. Validity assessed by Pearson’s correlation was 0.75 between RDC/TMD Depression and BDI, and 0.69 between RDC/TMD Depression Scale and CES-D. The sensitivity of the RDC/TMD Depression Scale was 1.00 to both BDI and CES-D. The specificity of the RDC/TMD Depression Scale was 0.51 to the BDI and 0.53 to the CES-D Depression scale of a Korean version of the RDC/TMD questionnaire demonstrated good reliability and validity. It has psychometric properties suitable for assessment and management of TMD patients. Research Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders (RDC/TMD) 는 1992년 Dworkin 등에 의해 소개된 이래 전 세계 많은 언어들로 번역되어 악관절 장애와 악안면 동통을 연구하는데 널리 사용되어 왔다. 그 중 Axis II 에서 우울증에 대한 척도로 SCL-90-R에 기초한 RDC/TMD Axis II depression scale을 소개하고 있다. 한국판 BDI, CES-D를 gold standard로 하여 RDC/TMD Axis II depression scale의 신뢰도, 타당도, 임상적 유용성 등을 검증하기 위하여 2003년 3월2일부터 8월31일까지 서울대학교 치과병원 구강내과에 처음 내원한 TMD환자들을 대상으로 RDC/TMD 설문과 BDI, CES-D 설문을 작성토록 하여 완전한 설문을 작성한 100명을 연구 대상으로 삼았다. Cronbach’s α를 이용한 신뢰도는 RDC/TMD Axis II depression scale: 0.96; BDI: 0.93; CES-D: 0.83의 결과를 얻었다. Pearson’s correlation을 이용한 타당도는 gold standard 인 BDI와 CES-D를 RDC/TMD Axis II depression scale와 비교하여, BDI를 기준으로 하였을 때 0.75로 유의성이 있는 상관관계를 보였고, CES-D를 기준으로 하였을 때 0.69로 역시 유의성 있는 상관관계를 보였다. BDI와 RDC/TMD Axis II depression scale을 비교했을 때 BDI가 normal 인 경우 RDC/TMD Axis II depression scale이 normal인 경우가 46 (51.1%), moderate depression이 22 (24.4%), severe depression이 22 (24.4%)였으며, BDI가 depressed인 경우 RDC/TMD Axis II depression scale이 normal인 경우가 0 (0%), moderate depression이 1(10%), severe depression이 9(90%)였다. CES-D와 RDC/TMD Axis II depression scale비교에서 CES-D가 normal인 경우 RDC/TMD Axis II depression scale이 normal인 경우가 46 (52.9%), moderate depression이 23 (26.4%), severe depression이 18 (20.7%)였으며, CES-D가 depressed 인 경우 RDC/TMD Axis II depression scale이 normal인 경우가 0(0%), moderate depression이 1 (7.7%), severe depression이 12 (92.3%)이었다. RDC/TMD Axis II depression scale의 민감도(sensitivity) 는 BDI와 CES-D와의 비교에서 모두 1.00을 얻었고 특이도(specificity)는 각각 0.51, 0.53를 얻었다.
자기장으로 유도된 금속-절연체 상전이에 관한 라만 산란 연구

We use Raman scattering to study the field-induced metal-insulator (MI) transition in Eu0:994Gd0:006O. Ferromagnetic (FM) clusters, developed through the MI ransition, coalesce to form a FM metal phase with decreasing temperature below TC. Interestingly, when a magnetic eld is applied, Raman scattering results show that the FM clusters form in a high-temperature spin- uctuation-dominated paramagnetic phase, providing clear evidence of the field-induced MI transition.
Optical studies of self-assembled InGaAs/GaAs quantum dot structures grown by atomic layer epitaxy

We report photoluminescence (PL) and Raman scattering studies of self-assembled InGaAs/GaAs quantum dot (QD) structures grown by atomic layer epitaxy (ALE). PL spectra show that the ground-state energies of the InGaAs QDs decrease with increasing deposition periods from n = 3 to 7. Correspondingly, with increasing n, Raman spectra show that the longitudinal optical (LO) phonon energies ( 291 cmof GaAs decrease, indicating that tensile strain is induced in the GaAs matrix. The PL and the Raman results strongly suggest that the QDs grow in size with increasing deposition periods, giving rise to reduction of the quantum connement eect and relaxation of strain. Importantly, a spectral response at 237 cmwas observed in Raman scattering. This Raman response is attributed to the InAs-like LO phonon mode of the InGaAs QDs, indicating clear evidence of the formation of the ALE-grown QDs.
