UHF 대역 RFID를 위한 송수신 분리 방향성 결합기 설계
나원,김완규,유종원,이문규 한국ITS학회 2008 한국ITS학회논문지 Vol.7 No.2
In this paper, new directional couplers for T/R switch of UHF RFID applications are proposed to overcome TX-to-RX leakage problem. The proposed method can remove TX-to-RX leakage caused by both imperfect isolation characteristic of the conventional directional coupler and the mismatch of antenna impedance. Two directional couplers are implemented using distributed elements and lumped elements respectively for the verification. The varactor tuneable circuits for compensation of the antenna mismatch is also proposed. The measurement result shows excellent TX-to-RX leakage suppression, more than 45dB in 910MHz.

Purpose: Although many previous studies related to sentence recognition of the hearing-impaired elderly have found their poor performance under various distracting listening conditions, there is still a lack of information for their error type in the sentence. The purpose of present study was to analyze a prominent error type among nine parts of speech in various levels of noise and fast speech conditions for the hearing-impaired elderly. Methods: Seven old listeners with moderate sensorineural hearing loss participated. For estimating their sentence recognition, Korean Speech Perception in Noise was applied for four signal-to-noise ratios (no noise, +6, +3, 0 dB) and four time alteration conditions (±30%, ±15%), while being presented at the most comfortable level to each participant. Total percent error and substitution error patterns of the sentence recognition were analyzed as a function of conditions. Results: The percent error of sentence recognition was increased as either noise level increased or speech rate was faster. Among the parts of speech, noun substitution error pattern showed the highest number for all participants regardless levels of noise and time alteration. Interestingly, the noun substitution error pattern was outstood in quiet and 15% time compression. Conclusion: Results of the present study suggest that aural rehabilitation of the hearing-impaired elderly may focus on reducing and correcting the noun substitution error to improve their sentence recognition.
군부대의 청력보존프로그램에 관한 고찰: 미군을 중심으로

Purpose: It is acknowledged that impact of noise in the military should be considered due to exposure to the high intensity levels which occur noise-induced hearing loss and tinnitus. Paradoxically, healthy hearing is a vital role in the performance of a soldier and is important for speech communication during the combat. Methods: This review paper introduces the current US army hearing program including techniques and procedures that govern the prevention of the noise-induced hearing loss in the soldiers and ensure their maximum combat effectiveness. Results: It generally consists of four elements, namely hearing readiness, clinical hearing service, operational hearing service, and hearing conservation. First of all, hearing readiness is to measure the soldier’s hearing threshold as a baseline and classify him into appropriate job position. Clinical hearing service is to diagnose a degree of hearing loss and then decide its temporal or permanent loss with detailed clinical measurements. In the operational hearing service, noise abatement strategies and ideal noise levels for engineering controls are included. Hearing conservation is related to identification of hazardous noise and effective use of hearing protector. Conclusion: Like the US army hearing program, we need to serve the hearing conservation program with technical and administrative guidance for preventing the noise-induced hearing loss of young soldiers, in advance, in Korea.

Purpose: With increasing on concern of recreational noise-induced hearing loss in young population, the present study aimed to investigate factors for determining preferred listening levels of the portable listening device users. Methods: For measuring the preferred listening levels of forty young listeners with normal hearing, four types of earphone having different insertion depths to the ear canal was applied under three levels of background noise (quiet, 40 dBA and 70 dBA) while listening to four music genres as exogenous factors. Also, their acceptable noise levels (ANLs) were identified as an endogenous factor. Results: As we expected, the preferred listening levels were significantly increased as the background noise level (BNL) increased. Among the music genres, classic and ballad (or R&B) were the lowest and highest listening levels, respectively. In addition, when the insertion depth to the ear canal was longer, the listening levels were decreased regardless of music genres and BNLs, except for the headphone that totally covered user’s pinna. Interestingly, there was a partially correlation between the preferred listening levels in the experimental conditions and the ANLs. Conclusion: The present results imply that both exogenous and endogenous factors might affect user’s preferred listening levels of the portable listening device although a further study to see any interaction among the factors should be followed.
A Systematic Approach to Find a Professional Audiology Clinic: Patient-Based Information
김건구,김기쁨,나원도,한우재 대한청각학회 2016 Journal of Audiology & Otology Vol.20 No.2
This brief communication introduced a systematic way to find a professional audiology clinic developed for patients and professionals by the American Academy of Audiology, American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and Healthy Hearing. Patients can access each organization’s website to find professionals and/or clinics based on criteria such as location, hours, special areas, types of service, reviews and rating by previous patients, and kinds of insurance accepted. Such a system may protect the patients from information overload, guarantee accurate information, and help them find themselves professional audiologists who can assist them. We expect professional organizations to adopt this system as soon as possible and link hearing-impaired patients with professional audiologists in Korea.
