This study was performed to determine whether the $LH{\beta}$-subunit gene missense mutation is present in Korean infertile patients with 46,XX POF women. The variants of $LH{\beta}$ exon 2 (Trp 8Arg; TGG to CGG and Ile15Thr; ATC to ACC) were studied in forty-four 46,XX idiopathic POF and 54 nonpregnant women. The $LH{\beta}$ exon 2 variants were more frequent in POF patients (20.5%) than nonpregnant (16.7%) women (p>0.05). POF patients with the variant was slightly higher than nonpregnant women with the variant.

The groundwater quality through livestock excreta survey based on “Act of the management and use of livestock excreta” was investigated by selecting sampling sites within 1 km of the farmland without considering hydrogeological units. However, these sites can be affected by various pollution sources such as chemical fertilizers and livestock excretions. Additionally, the effects of pollution sources on groundwater quality in the sites cannot be clearly distinguished from naturally occurring backgrounds. In this study, a method was developed to select the sampling sites for groundwater quality through livestock excreta survey in order to understand the effects of pollution sources especially livestock excreta. First, the concentrations of nitrate within the radius of 200 m, 300 m, 500 m and 750 m, respectively, from the farms regarded as pollution sources in hydrogeological units were compared in 2016-2017. All the nitrate concentrations at 200 - 500 m from the farms exceeded a background concentration, 13.3 mg/L. Those at 750 m and the background concentrations measured by the Ministry of Environment were comparable. Therefore, the appropriate radius was suggested as 500 m for livestock excretions survey. In this study, the areas within 500 m from the farms could be considered under the influence of livestock excretions, while those beyond 500 from the pollution sources as background in hydrogeological units. The developed method was validated by applying it to the sites selected based on both administrative divisions and watersheds for livestock excretion survey. The average densities for the developed method were 0.82 and 0.39 points/km2, respectively, which were considered as appropriate levels according to those of the European Environmental Agency.
Phaseolus vulgaris, Garcinia cambogia (HCA)가 함유된 다이어트 식이 조성물의 체지방 개선 및 체중 변화에 미치는 영향

이에 본 연구에서는 한국인에 적합한 비만 개선책을 찾고자 지방 흡수억제 기능과 과잉의 탄수화물 흡수 억제 기전이 함께 작용하는 방법으로서 강낭콩(white kidney bean, Phaseolus vulgaris)에서 α-amylases 활성을 저해하는 탄수화물 흡수 억제하는 추출물과 지방산과 콜레스테롤 합성에 관여하는 효소의 저해제인 HCA(hydroxycitric acid)를 함유하여 지방 합성을 저해, 식욕 억제 효과와 지방의 분해 촉진을 유도하는 가르시니아 캄보지아(Garcinia cambogia), 그리고 배변 활동을 원할하게 하도록 도움을 주는 수용성 식이섬유 (microstalline cellulose) 등을 배합하여 비만 개선용 다이어트 식이 조성물을 제조한 후 임상 실험을 수행한 결과 체중과 체지방 지수에서 유의한 감소효과를 얻을 수 있었다. 이들 결과를 종합하면, 강낭콩 추출물인 파제올라민과 가르시니아 캄보지아 추출물의 지방 합성 저해 효과, 그리고 수용성 식이섬유 등을 첨가하여 제조한 비만 개선용 다이어트 식이 조성물이 임상실험에서 체중 증가를 효과적으로 억제할 수 있음을 관찰할 수 있었으며, 이는 현대 성인 질병 가운데 하나인 비만을 효과적으로 예방, 치료할 수 있는 다이어트 식이로 유용할 것으로 사료된다. In this study we examined effects of a new dietary supplement on the lipid level and body weight. The efficacy of this weight-reduction supplement, based on natural ingredients consisting of Phaseolus vulgaris, Garcinia cambogia, and microstalline cellulose, was investigated by randomized, placebo-controlled doubleblind study. The 36 subjects were assigned evenly into weight-reduction supplemented (Active) and placebo groups (Placebo). The supplement could reduce the absorption of different types of sugar from the gastro intestinal tract. A significant difference in weight reduction was shown in the active group (3.5 ㎏). Body composition measurements indicated that about 34% of fat loss in the active group could be achieved. These findings suggest that this dietary supplement could reduce body weight and fat gains, and its inhibitory effects might lead to obesity improvement.
