        In order to clarify the classification and percentage of the blood group of 48 Korean native dogs in Kwnagju area(Chonnam province) were studied by the heteroimmune hemagglutination test and the following results were obtained. 1. Anti-A and anti-B rabbit immune sera were obtained through the immunization of canine whole blood cells and adsorption treatment each other. 2. Examined 48 canine blood were divided into 3 groups as Dog-A, Dog-B and Dog-AB and the percentage of distributions were 50, 21 and 29% respectively.

        개의 Hemoglobin, Albumin 및 Transferrin의 형(型)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究)

        Hemoglobin, albumin and transferrin phenetypes observed in a population of 255 dogs of various breeds by agar gel electrophoresis for hemoglobin and albumin, and by starch gel electrophoresis, for transferrin. The results obtained were as follows: 1. The hemoglobin phenotypes were classified as HbAA, HbAB and HbBB and the frequencies of appearence were 91.77, 6.27 and 1.96%, respectively. Gene frequency studies of $Hb^A$ and $Hb^B$ showed the $Hb^A$ gene to have a frequency of 94.9% and $Hb^B$ gene to have a frequency of 5.1. The frequency of hemoglobin phenotypes of the Korean Jindo dog (ylelow) was HbAA 76.19%, HbAB 17.46% and HbBB 6.35% and HbBB was recognized only in the Korean Jindo dogs. 2. The albumin phenotypes were calssified as AlbAA, AlbAB and AlbBB and the frequencies of appearence were 28.71, 43.57 and 27.72% respectively. Gene frequency stduies of $Alb^A$ and $Alb^B$ showed the $Alb^A$ gene to hate a frequency of 50.50% and $Alb^B$ gene to have a frequency of 49.50. The frequency of albumin phenotypes of the Korean Jindo dog was 26.32% for AlbAA, 34.21% for AlbAB and 39.47% for AlbBB. The frequency of albumin phenotypes of the Korean Jindo dog was slightly different from others and gene frequency of $Alb^B$ was 56.58. 3. Transferrin studies resulted in findings of 10 different phenotypes and frequencies of transferrin phenotype were 30.08% for $TfA_1A_1$, 8.02 for $TfA_2A_2$, 2.11 for TfBB, 4.64 for $TfC_1C_1$, 1.69 for $TfA_1B$, 41.35 for $TfA_1C_1$, 5.49 for $TfA_2C_1$, 0.84 for $TfA_2C_2$ and 3.79 for $TfBC_1$. Gene frequency studies of $Tf^A$, $Tf^B$ and $Tf^C$ showed the gene to have a frequency of 63.08% for $Tf^A$, 4.85 for $Tf^B$ and 32.07 for $Tf^C$ 4. Transferrin studies revealed two different band patterns on starch gels with a strong and weaker stained one. The $TfC_2C_2$ and $TfA_2A_2$ which were found in the Korean Jindo dog only showed a weaker stained band and the gene frequency of $TfA_1A_1$ was highly recognized in this dog.

        진도견의 혈액화학치 및 성장에 따른 체형에 관한 연구 II. 진도견의 성장에 따른 체형

        This investigation was conducted on 249 Jindo dogs aging from 2 to 12 months to determine body type and external appearance of the dogs. The results of this investigation were as follows. 1. The withers height of male dogs growed rapidly during the period between 2 months and 7 months of age, and was 22.94cm and 49.77cm, respectively. Afterward the growth rate slowed down up to 12 months, 53.33cm. The growth rate of female was similar to male, and the withers height was 22.91cm, 46.81cm, 48.70cm at 2, 6 and 12 months of age. 2. For male and female the body length was 27.21, 27.23cm at 2 months, 51.40cm, 51.62cm at 6 months, 58.33, 52.15cm at 12 months, respectively. Growth rate of the body length was very rapid from 2 to 6 months of age, but afterwards the growth rate was slow and somewhat retarded. 3. For male and female, the withers height to body length ratio was 100 : 109.4 and 100 : 107.1 in 12 months old group. 4. Cross over between the sexes in growth rate occurred between 5.3 to 6.5 months of age for wither height, between 6.0 to 7.2 months for hody length, respectively. 5. The average chest girths of male and female were 31.46, 30.46cm at 2 months, 54.92, 52.20cm at 7months, 60.25, 57.90cm at 12months, respectively. The growth rate of chest girth was rapid between 2 to 7 months of age and gradual between 7 to 12 months. 6. The average skull lengths of male and female were 11.76, 11.32cm at 2 months, 21.83, 19.60cm at 12 months, respectively. The average head widths of male and female were 8.37, 7.94cm at 2 months, 15.47, 12.46cm at 12 months. 7. Erected type of ear was completed from oblique type at 6 months in male and 7 months in female. On our detailed examinations, we concluded that Jindo dogs completed their growth at 6 to 7 months of age.

        The present study was conducted ill. order to get the normal blood chemical values of Korean Jindo dogs. Blood samples were taken from 160(♂34, ♀126) healthy Jindo dogs in Jindo area. The results obtained in this study were summarized as follows: 1. The mean values of serum total protein(TP), albumin(Alb) and globulin(Glb) content, cholesterol(Chole), magnesium(Mg), calcium(Ca), inorganic phosphate(P), potassium(K), sodium(Na) and chloride(Cl) concentration in the group of less than one year old were 6.64(♂6.62, ♀6.64), 3.63(♂3.57, ♀3.65) and 3.00(♂3.05, ♀2.99)g/100ml, 170.97(♂166.46, ♀172.68)mg/100ml, 1.45(♂1.43, ♀1.46), 5.76(♂5.62, ♀5.81), 4.80(♂4.95, ♀4.75), 4.84(♂4.72, ♀4.89), 148.93(♂148.79, ♀148.98) and 110.22(♂110.42, ♀110.14)mEq/L, respectively, whereas the TP, Alb and Glb content, Chole Mg, Ca, P, K, Na and Cl concentration in the group of one year old and more were 6.88(♂6.84, ♀6.89), 3.65(♂3.63, ♀3.66) and 3.23(♂3.21, ♀3.23)g/100ml, 167.48(♂173.80, ♀166.48)mg/100ml, 1.40(♂1.36, ♀1.40), 5.69(♂5.53, ♀5.71), 4.62(♂4.73, ♀4.60), 4.88(♂4.90, ♀4.87), 149.86(♂149.60, ♀149.90) and 110.03(♂110.70, ♀109.92)mEq/L, respectively. The ratios of mean serum albumin to globulin(A/G), calcium to inorganic phosphate(Ca/P) and sodium to potassium(Na/K) in the group of less than one year old were 1.21(♂1.17, ♀1.22), 1.20(♂1.14, ♀1.22) and 30.77(♂31.52, ♀30.47), respectively, whereas the A/G, Ca/P and Na/K in the group of one year old and more were 1.13(♂1.13, ♀1.13), 1.23(♂1.17, ♀1.24) and 30.71(♂30.53, ♀30.78), respectively. 2. The mean values of Alb content, Mg, Ca and K concentration, A/G and Ca/P ratio appeared to be higher in the female than in the male, whereas the reverse was the case with P concentration. No differences were found between male and female in the TP and Glb content, Chole, Na and Cl concentration and Na/K ratio. 3. The mean values of Glb content appeared to be higher in the group less than one year old than in the group of one year old and more, whereas the reverse was the case with A/G ratio. The mean values of TP and Alb content and Ca/P ratio in the age groups less than one year tended to increase with aging, whereas the reverse was the case with Ca and P concentration. No differences were found between age groups in the Mg, K, Na and Cl concentration and Na/K ratio.

      • 乳牛의 血液性狀과 泌乳量에 關한 硏究

        This work was conducted to determine the composition of the blood of Holstein cattle in Korea and the relationships between the blood composition and milk production. Bloòd samples wère taken from 870 healthy cattle in chonnam proyince. Milk yteld was recorded, and the results obtained in this study are sunìmarízed as follows: 1. Mean red blood cell(RBC) count was 5.97(3.20~9.96)X106/㎕,whereas the RBC count of adult cows was 6.06(3.20~9.74) X 106/㎕. The RBC count between age groups appeared to be especially lower in the age group of 1 year(5.19 X 106/㎕ than in the other age groups. 2. Mean hemoglobin(Hb)content was 9.61(5.3-18.4)g/100㎖,whereas the Hb content of adult cows was 9.42(5.3-18.4)g/100㎖. The Hb content between age groups appeared to be especiallγ lower in the age group of 2 years(8.97g/100㎖) than in the other age groups. 3. Mean packed cell volume(PCV) was 31.10(19-55)㎖/100㎖. The PCV between age groups was lowest in the age group of 2 years(29.84㎖/100㎖). 4. Mean corpuscular volume(MCV) was 52.09(29.77-86.57) fl, whereas the MCV of adult cows 51.22(29.77-86.57) fl. Mean corpuscular hemoglobin(MCH) was 16.10 (8.21-28.96) pg, whereas the MCH of adult cows was 15.54(8.21-28.96) pg. Mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration(MCHC) was 30.90(17.35-53.57)g/100㎖, whereas MCHC of adult cows was 30.35 (17.35-53.57)g/100㎖. The MCV, MCH and MCHC appeared to be higher in' the calves and heifers than in the adult cows. 5. Most anemic cattle showed macrocytic, hyperchromic anemia. Various types of anemia were detected; microcytic(MCV 37.15 fl) hypochromic(MCH 12. 35pg); macrocytic hypochromic(MCHC 24.21g/100㎖); microcytic(MCV 35.71 fl)hyperchromic (MCHC 40.83~/I00me). 6, Mean white blood cell(WBC) count was 10,186(3,200-31,600)/㎕ which was high compared with other results. The WBC count between age groups appeared to be especially higher in the age group of 2 years(12,647/㎕) than in the other age groups. 7. Mean differential WBC count was lymphocyte 66.95(36-91). monocyte 3.08 (0-12) , neutrophil 25.69(2-54). eosinophil 3.84(0-18) and basophil 0.44(0-5%). respectively, while in the adult cows. it was lymphocyte 65.87(36-86). monocyte 3.15(0-9). neutrophil25.84(6-53). eosinophil4.73(0-15) and basophil 0.41(0-2)% , respectively. Lymphocyte count increased up to 1 year of age and thereafter it decreased with age. whereas the reverse was the case with neutrophil count. There was a negative correlation between lymphocyte and neutrophil counts. Monocyte and eosinophiJ counts tended to be slightly higher in the older age groups. 8. Mean platelet count was 252,429(93,000-964,000)/㎕ no differences were found in the platelet count between age groups. 9. Mean serum total protein(TP) content was 6.88( 4.10-10. 20)g/100㎖), while the TP content of adult cows was 7.35(5.10-10. 20)g/100㎖. The TP content tended to increase with age. 10. Mean serum albumin(Alb) content was :).43(2.00-4.40)g/100㎖. while the Alb content of adult cows was 3.51(2.00-4.40)g/100㎖. The Alb content appeared to be lower in the calves and heifers than in the adult cows. 11. Mean serum globulin(Glb) content was 3.45( 1.10-7.15)g/100me. while the GJb content of adu1t cows was 3.84(1.40-7.15g)/100㎖. The Glb content tended to increase with age. 12. Mean serum albumin: globulin(A/G) ratio was 0.99(0.40-3.33). while the A/G ratio of adult cows was 0.91(0.43-2.64). The A/G ratio tended to decrease with age. 13. Mean serum cholesterol concentration was 145.65(44.0-336.0)mg/100㎖, whereas the serum cholesterol concentration of adult cows was 180.93(46.4-336.0) mg/100㎖. The serum cholesterol concentraion increased up to 4 years of age and thereafter it decreased with age. 14. Mean serum glucose concεntration was 46.00(27.0-96.0)mg/100㎖. whereas the serum glucose concentration of adult cows was 39.61(27.0-65.0)mg/100㎖. which was low compared with other results. The serum glucose concentration between age groups appeared to be especially higher in the age group of less than 1 year(58.07mg/100n,e) than in the other age groups. 15. Mean serum magnesium(Mg) concentration was 2.68(0.20-8.60)mg/ 100㎖, whereas the Mg concentration of adult cows was 2.72(0.20-8.46)mg/100㎖. The Mg concentration between age groups appeared to be especially lower in the age group of more than 7 years(2.27mg/100㎖) than in the other age groups. Decreased Mg concentration was shown in older cows. 16. Mean serum calcium(Ca) concentration was 4.36(3.16-8. 40)mEq/L. which was low compared with other results. No differences were found in the Ca concentration between age groups. 17. Mean serum inorganic phosphate(P) concentration was 6.27(3.10-9.78)mg/ 100㎖. whereas the P concentration of adult cows was 5.92(3.10-9.78)mg/100㎖. The P concentration between age groups appeared to be especially higher in the age group of less than 1 year(7.50mg/100㎖) than in the other age groups. 18. Mean serum calcium: inorganic phosphate(Ca/P) ratio was 1.39(0.68-2.64). The Ca/P ratio of adult cows was 1.48(0.68-2.64), which was lower compared with other results. The Ca/P ratio between age groups was lowesr in the age group of less than 1 year(1.21). 19. Mean serum potassium(K) concentration was 4.94(1.5-6.7)mEq/L. whereas the K concentration of adult cows was 4.84(3.5-6.2)mEq/L. The K concentration between age groups appeared to be especially higher in the age group of 1ess than year(5.22mEq/L) than in the other age groups. 20. Mean serum sodium(Na) concentration was 138. 43(123-157)mEq/L, whereas the Na concentration of adult cows was 137.32 (123-157)mEq/ L. The Na concentration between age groups appeared to be higher in the calves and heifers than in the adult cows. 21.       • 反蒭動物의 Hemoglobin型에 關한 硏究

        The hemoglobin phenotypes and the gene frequencies of 460 cattle(430 Korean native cattle, 30 Holstein), 214 sheep(l40 corriedale, 74 Polworth) and 150goats(60 black Korean native goats, 40 white Korean native goats, 50 Saanen hybrid) were examined by agar gel electrophoresis. The results obtainëd were as follows; 1. In. cattle hemoglobin phenotypes, HbAA, HbAB, HbBB, HbAC and HbAD were observed and their frequencies of appearence were 78.70, 20.00, 0.43, 0.43 and 0.43 per cent respectively. The distribution gene frequency were calculated 89.13 in Hb4, 10.43 in HbB, 0.22 in HbC and 0.22 per cent in HbD. Among the cattle hemoglobin phenotypes two hemoglobin types, HbAA and, HbAB, were observed in Hoistein and their frequencies of appearance were 86.67 and 13.33 pet cent respectively. The distribution of gene frequency were calculated 93.33 in HbA and 6.67 per cent in HbB. 2. In sheep hemoglobin phenotypes, HbAA, HbAB ànd HbBB were observed and their frequencies of appearance were 63.08, 29.91 and 7.01 per cent respectively. The distribution of gene frequency were calculated 78.04 in Hb4 and 21.96 per cent in HbB, The distribution of gene frequency of HbA was 89.64 per cent in Corriedale but 56.08 per cent in Polworth. 3. Only one hemoglobin type was found in the goat and the was similar to the HbAA type which was showed in cattle and sheep.

      • Holstein 종의 임신기별 혈액상에 관한 연구

        우리나라에서 사육되고 있는 Holstein종 암소의 임신기별 혈액상의 표준치를 얻고자 광주 및 전남지역에서 사육되고 있는 건강하다고 인정된 임진중인 암소와 분만 후 60일까지의 암소 150두를 대상으로 혈액상을 조사 검토하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1. 평균 RBC수는 6.22±0.13(5.07∼7.90)×10??/μl이었으며, 임신초에서부터 점진적인 증가가 일어나 5개월째에는 최고치에 이르렀고 다시 감소가 일어나 7개월째에는 최하지를 나타냈으며 다시 증가하였으나 분만 후 1개월째에는 감소가 일어났으며 분만 후 2개월째에는 회복됨을 볼 수 있었다. 2. 평균 Hb량은 10.24±0.20(8.1∼12.9)g/100ml이었으며, 임신기별 변화는 RBC수의 변화와 같았다. 3. 평균 PCV치는 32.22±0.37(28∼39)ml/100ml이었으며, 임신기별 변화는 RBC수의 변화와 같았다. 4. 평균 PCV치는 51.80±0.69(46.43∼60.43)fl이었으며, 임신 전 기간을 통해서 거의 비슷하였으나 임신 7개월째와 분만 후 1개월째에 유의성 있는 증가를 볼 수 있었다(P<0.05). 5. 평균 MCH는 16.46±0.18(14.70∼19.30)pg이었으며, 임신기별 변화는 발견할 수 없었다. 6. 평균 MCHC는 31.78±0.30(28.33∼34.32)ㅎ/100ml이었으며, 임신기별 변화는 RBC수의 변화상과 비슷한 양상을 나타내고 있었다. 7. 평균 WBC는 8,512±50(4,650∼12,900)/㎕이었으며, 임신기별 특징은 인정할 수 없었다. 8. WBC 감별계수의 평균치는 림프구가 66.16±1.52(52∼78), 단핵구가 3.32±0.31(0∼8), 중성 호성백혈구가 26.03±1.68(19∼38), 산호성백혈구가 3.97±0.45(0∼10) 그리고 염기호성백혈구가 0.52±0.07(0∼2)%이었으며, 임신기별로 유의성 있는 변화는 발견할 수 없었으나 임신 1개월에 림프구는 가장 낮은 치 이었고 중성호성백혈구는 가장 높은 치 이었으며 림프구의 변동에 대응하여 중성호성백혈구가 변화되고 있는 양상을 나타내고 있었다. 9. 평균 혈소판수는 258,620±4,575(117,000∼569,000)/㎕이었으며, 임신기별 특징은 발견할 수 없었다. The present study was conducted in order to get the variation of hematologic values in course of pregnancy of Holstein cows. Blood samples were taken from 150 pregnant cows in Gwanju and Jeonnam province. The results obtained in this study were summarized as follows : 1. The mean values of red blood cell(RBC) count, hemoglobin(Hb) content and packed cell volume(PCV) were 6.22±0.13×10??/μl, 10.24±0.20g/100ml and 32.22±0.37ml/100ml respectively. The values of RBC count, Hb content and PCV were gradually increased during the first five months of pregnancy, reached a peak level in the fifth month, and decreased untill the seventh month, showed the lowest value in the seventh month. They were again increased thereafter, while decreased in the first month after parturition and recovered in the second month after parturition. 2. The mean values of mean corpuscular volume(MCV), mean corpuscular hemoglobin(MCH) and mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration(MCHC) were 51.80±0.69 fl, 16.46±0.18 pg and 31.78±0.30g/100ml respectively. The values of MCV appeared to be higher (p<0.05) in the seventh month of pregnancy and in the first month after calving than in the other months. No differences were found during pregnancy in the values of MCH. The values of MCHC were similar changes with RBC variational pattern. 3. Mean white blood cell(WBC) count was 8,512±50/㎕;no differences were found during pregnancy in the WBC count. 4. In WBC differential count the mean percentage of lymphocyte, monocyte, neutrophil, eosinophil and basophil were 66.16±1.52m 3.32±0.31, 26.03±1.68, 3.97±0.45 and 0.52±0.07% respectively. Lymphocyte count appeared to be lowest in the first month of pregnancy, whereas the reverse was the case with neutrophil count. There was a negative correlation between lymphocyte and neutrophil counts. 5. Mean platelet count was 258,620±4,575/㎕;no differences were found in the platelet count during pregnancy.

      • 濾紙 및 寒天電氣泳動法에 依한 韓牛의 Hemoglobin Phenotype에 對한 硏究

        The hemoglobin phenotypes and the gene frequencies of 250 Korean native cattle in Kwanju area(Chonnam province were examined by using the paper and agar gel electrophoresis. The blood samples were taken from the Kwangju slaughter house. The results obtained were summarized as follows; 1. The electrophoretic patterns of hemoglobin phenotype w야 the same in the above two methods. 2. The hemoglobin phenotype of Korean native cattle was classified as HbAA, HbAB. and HbAC. and the rates of the frequencies of appearance were 76.8%. 22.4%. and 0.8%. respectively. The frequency of appearance was coincided with the expected value which was calculated by the Hardy-Weinberg9s law (df=l. p>O.5). 3. The genetic factors of hemoglobia were observed as . . and , and the rates of gene frequencies were 88.4%. 11.2%. and 0.4%. re한el!tively.

      • 大根(Radish)葉의 飼料的 價値 究明 (第一報)

        In order to elucidate the differences between "Chungsu-gungjung" and "Juigori" radish, four groups of those(green "Chungsu-gungjung", yellow "Chungsu-gungjung," green "Juigori" and yellow "Juigori") , which was divided in three part-leafstalk, lamina and both of part, were examined for their chemical constituents. Their proportions varied considerably with the differences in variety. The moisture varied from 87.69% to 93.52%(aver. 90.30%), crude ash; from 1.40% to 1.86 %(aver. 1.69%), crude fat: from 0.15% to 0.56%(aver 0.33%), crude protein: from 1.64% to 1.75%(aver. 1.69%), crude fiber from 1.75% to 1.90%(aver. 1.82%) and nitrogen free-extract: from 1.24% to 6.62%(aver. 4.17%) .
