본 연구에서는 원형제트의 천이영역에서 속도신호를 측정하고 이로부터 간헐 도와 간헐주파수를 구하며 이를 사용한 지역평균법으로 난류특성량들을 구하여 천이영 역에서의 난류구조를 해석하고 난류 모델링을 위해 필요한 기초자료를 제공하고자 한 다. 난류강도, 레이놀즈응력, 속도성분의 3차상관 관계등의 레이놀즈평균과 지역평 균들을 제시하였고, 편평도, 비대칭도등의 통계학적인 해석과 확산항에 대한 검토도 행하였다. An exprimental research has been carried out to find the intermittent flow pattern in the transition region of a turbulent round jet in order to elucidate detailed turbulence structure and to accumulate basic data necessary for computational turbulence modelling. Turbulent signals were processed digitally to obtain conventional or conditional velocity components. The high-order conditional correlations obtained in this study showed similar trends as those of other free shear flows. It was found that the non-turbulent fluid contributes negligibly to the turbulent kinetic energy production and its diffusive transport and that the diffusion by bulk convection has the same order of magnitude as the gradient diffusion in the free boundary region. The statistical analyses such as flatness factor, skewness factor and probability density functions of turbulent and non-turbulent zone durations have also been performed.

A flow visualization experiment using water-table models was performed. The water-table models simulated the two-dimensional cold flow fields inside the combustion chambers of incinerators. The flow were visualized by small but neutrally bouyant particles photographed by an overhead camera. The experimentally simulated flow fields apparently showed distinct features of two combustion chamber shapes; counter and parallel flow types. The significance of the secondary air injection on the mixing of combustion gases were clearly observed. The effects of the recirculation zones, which were present in the secondary chamber, were discussed by considering the importance of them for optimal combustion.

The component analysis of engine oi1 is an essential process during engine development period in the automotive companies. Fuel dilution monitoring is particularly important in diesel engines equipped wi th post treatment system like DPF and Nox catalyst. Because it lowers the viscosity of the oil, sometimes to the extent that lubrication fails and severe wear takes place. In this study, diesel engine durability tests were performed using one diesel engine until 880 times and authors analyzed the properties of tested oil samples to inspect the rate of increase fuel dilution in the oil and wear rate of parts in the diesel engine.
