        The Effect of Amplitude, Event, and Duration of Electrical Stimulation on the Evacuation Velocity of Rodents: An Evacuation Experiment

        Despite advances in technology, crushing accidents still occur during emergency evacuations of crowded public spaces. To prevent crushing accidents, it is necessary to understand the flow of pedestrians during evacuation scenarios through experiments. Since experiments with humans can generate real accidents, we performed experiments on rodents to approximate human behavior. To trigger an emergency evacuation response, we applied electrical stimulation to the feet of the rodents. Although electrical stimulation has been applied to mice in many experiments, studies on the intensity and pattern of electric stimulation required to evoke a rapid evacuation response in mice is still lacking. In this study, we experimentally investigated how the evacuation flow of mice changes according to the amplitude, event, and duration of electric stimulation.

        Ionotronic hydrogels have attracted significant attention in emerging fields such as wearable devices, flexible electronics, and energy devices. To date, the design of multifunctional ionotronic hydrogels with strong interfacial adhesion, rapid self-healing, three-dimensional (3D) printing processability, and high conductivity are key requirements for future wearable devices. Herein, we report the rational design and facile synthesis of 3D printable, self-adhesive, self-healing, and conductive ionotronic hydrogels based on the synergistic dual reversible interactions of poly(vinyl alcohol), borax, pectin, and tannic acid. Multifunctional ionotronic hydrogels exhibit strong adhesion to various substrates with different roughness and chemical components, including porcine skin, glass, nitrile gloves, and plastics (normal adhesion strength of 55 ㎪ on the skin). In addition, the ionotronic hydrogels exhibit intrinsic ionic conductivity imparting strain -sensing properties with a gauge factor of 2.5 up to a wide detection range of approximately 2000%, as well as improved selfhealing behavior. Based on these multifunctional properties, we further demonstrate the use of ionotronic hydrogels in the 3D printing process for implementing complex patterns as wearable strain sensors for human motion detection. This study is expected to provide a new avenue for the design of multifunctional ionotronic hydrogels, enabling their potential applications in wearable healthcare devices.

        녹차와 로즈마리 추출물을 첨가한 두유의 항산화 활성

        제주산 녹차, 로즈마리, 레몬 잎, 조릿대 잎을 물과 에탄올을 이용해 다양한 조건에서 추출물을 제조하여 각 추출물에 대한 항산화 활성을 측정하였다. 그 결과, 녹차와 로즈마리 추출물이 레몬과 조릿대 잎 추출물과 비교하여 상대적으로 높은 항산화 활성을 보였다. 항산화 활성이 상대적으로 우수한 녹차와 로즈마리 추출물들을 두유에 첨가한 뒤, 혼합물의 항산화 활성을 측정하였다. 녹차 증류수 가압 가열 추출물과 상온 정치 추출물 10% 첨가한 두유에서 상대적으로 가장 높은 활성을 보였으며, 녹차 증류수 가압 가열 추출물과 상온 정치 추출물의 DPPH 라디칼 소거능은 각각 $85.1{\pm}2.3%$, $84.4{\pm}2.0%$을, ABTS 라디칼 소거능은 각각 $73.4{\pm}2.8%$, $81.3{\pm}4.8%$로 확인되었다. 한편, 로즈마리 증류수 가압 가열 추출물 10% 첨가한 두유에서 무첨가 두유에 비해 더 높은 DPPH 라디칼 소거능이 확인되었으며, ABTS 라디칼 소거능은 무첨가 두유와 유사했다. 따라서 녹차 증류수 가압 가열추출물과 상온 정치 추출물, 그리고 로즈마리 증류수 가압 가열 추출물을 두유에 첨가 시 항산화 활성이 향상된 고부가가치 두유제품 개발 제발이 가능할 것으로 기대된다. The objective of this study was to compare antioxidant activities of green tea, rosemary, lemon and bamboo leaves extracts using three different extraction methods (80% ethanol sonication extraction, distilled water autoclave extraction, distilled water extraction at room temperature). As a result, green tea and rosemary extracts showed relatively high antioxidant activities compared with those of lemon and bamboo leaves. These green tea and rosemary extracts were subsequently added to soymilk and their mixtures were examined for antioxidant activities. Soymilk added with 10% green tea distilled water autoclave extracts and distilled water at room temperature extracts showed relatively high DPPH, $85.09{\pm}2.26%$, $84.38{\pm}1.97%$, and ABTS radical scavenging activities, $73.43{\pm}2.78%$, $81.34{\pm}4.78%$, respectively. On the other hand, soymilk added with 10% rosemary distilled water autoclave extracts showed remarkably higher DPPH radical scavenging activity while their ABTS radical scavenging ability was similar to that of non-added soymilk. In conclusion, our results suggest that the addition of green tea distilled water autoclave extracts, distilled water at room temperature extracts and rosemary distilled water autoclave extracts to soymilk could contribute to the development of added value soymilk products with increased antioxidant activities.

        구강암 세포주를 이종이식한 설암의 동소위 누드마우스 모델

        Introduction: Development of carcinoma on oral tongue may cause bilateral cervical lymph node metastasis, rapid invasion and growth of the cancer cells due to rich blood supply in muscle tissues. It is not only difficult to develop an animal experimental model, but also to proceed follow-up research after the development of such model as the induction of cancer lead to difficulty in taking nutrition for the experimental animals that often causes early death. Materials and Methods: IIn this study, author have transplanted YD-10B mod cells into nude mouse oral tongues with different cells number (5×10 4 , 5×10 5 , 5×10 6 cells/mouse) and observed the development aspect of oral tongue cancers. Results: The cancer developed from orthotopic transplantation of YD-10B mod cells into nude mouse oral tongue show invasion and central necrosis of the tumor, similar to the cancers developed human oral tongue cancer. The difference in tumor size and the time of central necrosis development depending on the number of transplanted tumor cells shows the feasibility of extending the survival period of the nude mouse by limiting the transplanted tumor cells to <5×10 4 cells/mouse or under per nude mouse. Conclusion: This nude mouse model could be used effectively in developing effective chemotheray agent and establishing an animal experimental model that can be used to study the mechanism of cervical lymph node metastasis of the oral tongue cancer.

        감귤박 에탄올추출물과 열수추출물의 영양성분 및 항산화 활성

        본 연구는 감귤박의 생리기능성을 탐색하고자 통과 감귤박과, 과피를 제거한 과육 감귤박을 열수와 에탄올로 각각 추출하여 일반성분 및 항산화 활성을 측정하였다. 감귤박의 일반성분을 측정한 결과, 열량과 탄수화물은 통과 감귤박이 더 높았으며 수분은 과육 감귤박이 더 높은 것으로 나타났다. 총 폴리페놀 함량은 추출 용매에 따른 차이는 없었으나, 과피를 포함하고 있는 통과 감귤박이 더 높은 함량을 나타냈다. ESR을 이용한 DPPH 라디칼 소거능과 alkyl 라디칼 소거능 측정 결과, 과육보다는 통과 감귤박의 활성이 더 높았으며, 열수추출물보다는 에탄올추출물이 활성이 높게 측정되었다. Liquid chromatography를 이용한 플라보노이드 함량 분석 결과, naringin은 통과 에탄올추출물에서만 검출되었으며, 또한 nobiletin과 tangeretin의 함량이 통과 에탄올추출물에서 높게 나타났다. GC 분석 결과를 토대로 감귤박 추출물의 항산화 활성은 플라보노이드뿐만 아니라 HMF와 maltol에 기인할 수 있음을 나타냈다. 따라서 과피를 포함하고 있는 통과 감귤박은 기능성 식품을 개발하는 데에 있어서 높은 활용 가치가 있는 것으로 사료된다. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of extraction methods on the antioxidant activity of Citrus unshiu pomace. For this purpose, two kinds of citrus pomace (CP)s, whole fruit CP and pulp CP, were used for preparing the extracts with hot water or 70% ethanol. It is well-known fact that whole fruit CP has more calories and carbohydrates, although moisture content is higher in pulp CP. Further, whole fruit CP extracts have higher levels of total phenolic contents compared to CP extracts. In addition, DPPH and alkyl radical scavenging activities were also higher in whole fruit CP, especially in ethanolic extracts. Our results based on liquid chromatography-mass spectrometer showed that 70% ethanolic extract of whole fruit CP has the maximum levels of nobiletin and tangeretin contents. The levels of naringin, which is known as an antioxidant flavonoid, was determined only in the 70% ethanolic extract of whole fruit CP. This result, however, is consistent with the observed DPPH and alkyl radical scavenging activities. We had also performed a gas chromatography analysis that showed all the four extracts contained the compound hydroxymethyl furfural. Significantly, this compound has been reported to have antioxidant activity. Taken together, findings of this study indicate that ethanolic extraction of whole fruit CP is a good source of antioxidant compounds and hence the same could be utilized as an important method to obtain such beneficial compounds on an industrial scale.

        근거이론적 접근을 통한 지적장애 대학생의 대학생활 적응과정 분석

        본 연구는 지적장애 대학생이 대학생활에서 경험하는 적응과정을 분석하여 이론적 틀을 제시하고 구체적인 대학생활 지원방안을 모색하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 B시의 대학교에 재학 중인 지적장애 대학생 4명을 대상으로 2017년 6월부터 7월까지 개별면담을 실시하여 자료를 수집하였다, 수집된 자료는 질적 연구방법 중 하나인 근거이론 접근방법에 기초하여 분석하였다. 연구결과. 지적장애 대학생이 대학 생활을 통해 경험하는 중심현상은 ‘여전히 나는 주변인’으로 나타났으며, 지적장애 대학생의 적응과정은 ‘한계와 절감’, ‘위기와 조절’, ‘노력과 도전’, ‘성장과 도약’의 4단 계로 확인되었다. 본 연구의 결과를 토대로 지적장애 대학생의 대학생활의 핵심경험과 적응과정에 대해 논의하였고 대학적응을 돕기 위한 후속연구를 제언하였다. The purpose of this study was to search for a supporting plan of college students with intellectual disabilities through analyzing the adjustment to college and providing theoretical framework. In-depth interview was conducted for the 4 college students with intellectual disabilities, and the collected data were analyzed using grounded theory approach. The results of this study were as follows. First, college students with intellectual disabilities showed the contextual conditions ‘Gap between expectation and reality . Second, the adjustment process of college the students with intellectual disabilities was verified as 4 steps(‘Limitation and feeling keenly , ‘Crisis and control , ‘Effort and challenge , ‘Growth and leap ). Last, on the basis of the results, this study discusses the core experience and adjustment process of college students with intellectual disabilities and suggests future research to help their positive college adjustment.

        An osteochondroma is an osseous protuberance with cartilaginous growth potential, usually arising in skeletal bone and relatively uncommon in the craniofacial bone. Osteochondroma of the craniofacial region usually occurs at the condyle or the tip of the coronoid process, and rarely arises in the mandibular body, symphysis, ramus, and similar areas. Excision of the lesion including the periosteum is curative, and recurrence or malignant change (usually to a chondrosarcoma) after treatment is rare. We present an atypical case of osteochondroma in the left mandibular inferior border with review of literature.
