The growth of health expenditures for the Medicaid enrollees is very rapid in spite of reduced enrollees in the Medicaid program. Therefore, the cost containment strategies in the Medicaid program is under progress these days. It has been concerned about the evaluation of utilization volume and pattern of healthcare services for the Medicaid enrollees. The existing findings showed that the utilization volume is larger for the Medicaid enrollees compared to the Medical Insurance enrollees, in terms of the length of stay(LOS) and health expenditures. However, the existing studies did not consider the severity of diseases between two groups. Moreover no study has been conducted on the differences of healthcare utilization pattern between two groups. In these context, this study investigated whether the Medicaid and the Medical Insurance enrollees have different healthcare utilization pattern based on the Korean Adjacent Diagnosis Related Group(KADRG). When significant differences were noted, the influencing factors to those differences were examined by analyzing six months medical record data from 30 hospitals. 1. For the ten most frequent KADRGs, the LOS of Medicaid Type 1 inpatients is longer than that of the insured over all 10 disease groups, but the Medicaid Type 1 inpatients have the lowest cost per day. However, the LOS of Medicaid Type 2 inpatients is not different to that of the insured, and their cost per day is even higher. 2. The regression analyses by disease groups show that the LOS of both Medicaid Type 1 and 2 is longer than that of the insured. However, while the cost per day for Medicaid Type 1 inpatients is lower than that for the insured, that for Medicaid Type 2 inpatients is higher than that for the insured.

Cytogenetic and hematological analysis was performed in peripheral blood from the Korean native goat bred in the nuclear power plant (Wolsong and Uljin) and control area. The frequency of micronuclei (MN) in peripheral blood lymphocytes from goat was used as a biomarker of radiobiological effects resulting from exposure to environmental radiation. An estimated dose of radiation was calculated by best fitting linear-quadratic model based on the radiation-induced MN data over the range from 0 to 4 Gy from the goat lymphocytes with in vitro irradiation. MN rates in goats from the Wolsong and Uljin nuclear power plant, and control area were 9.60/1000, 6.83/1000 and 9.88/1000, respectively. There were no significant differences in MN frequencies and hematological values in goats between nuclear power plant and control area. High level of platelet in the goat from Uljin nuclear power plant was observed, which seemed to be related to the goat management.

Serial ultrasonographic examinations were performed on pregnant Korean Jindo bitches. Measurements of inner chorionic cavity diameter and fetal head diameter were made from pregnancy day 15 to parturition. These measurements were converted retrospectively based on the day of parturition (day 0). The data of inner chorionic cavity diameter obtained from day -42 to day -25 and fetal head diameter obtained from day -24 to day -1 were used to prediction of parturition day. Formulas for the prediction of parturition day using the method of least squares were derived. These formulas were then used to predict parturition dates based on single measurements of inner chorionic cavity diameter or fetal head diameter in 17 additional pregnant Korean Jindo bitches. Predicted date of parturition was then compared to actual whelping date. In the prediction of parturition based on inner chorionic cavity diameter, 7 of 10 bitches were coincided prediction date and actual whelping date, and the prediction was accurate to within 1 day in 3 of 10 bitches. The prediction of parturition based on fetal head diameter was accurate to within 1 day in 6 of 7 bitches and within 2 days in 1 of 7 bitches. In conclusion, the ultrasound measurement of inner chorionic cavity diameter and fetal head diameter are practical and accurate tool in the prediction of parturition.

The frequency of micronuclei(MN) in peripheral blood lymphocytes from cattle was used as a biomarker of radiobiological effects resulting from exposure to environmental radiation. An estimated dose of radiation was calculated by a best fitting linear-quadratic model based on the radiation-induced MN formation from the bovine lymphocytes exposed in vitro to radiation over the range from 0 Gy to 4 Gy. MN ratio in lymphocytes of cattle from Uljin nuclear power station and control area were 8.90/1,000 and 9.60/1,000, respectively. There were no significant differences in MN frequencies and hematological values in cattle between Uljin and control area.

We performed this study to determine the late biological effect of gamma radiation and effect of Bu-Zhong-Yi-Qi-Tang (BZYQT), a prescription of traditional Oriental medicine, on radiation-induced late biological effect (survival, hematological change, carcinogenesis) of mice irradiated with 3 Gy of gamma-radiation. There were little difference in body weights between normal and irradiated mice. Survival rate were decreased in irradiated mice and the survival rate and mean survival time of the groups treated with BZYQT were far better than the irradiation control group. A significant elevation of total leukocyte or lymphocyte counts was seen at week 4 and 12 of the group treated with BZYQT. Stimulated recovery by the extract from BZYQT was also observed in thrombocyte. Main gross findings of irradiated mice were appeared as enlargement of spleen, thymus and liver, tumorous nodules of lung and cyst or mass of ovary. Microscopically, there were various findings including hematopoietic and lymphoid tumor, lung cancer, ovarian cancer and cancer of other lesions. BZYQT reduced the incidence of tumor development. Further studies are needed to characterize better the protective nature of ingredients and active compounds.

Cordyceps has a reputation for its broad biological activities and as a tonic which replenishs vital function in Chinese traditional medicines. As an attempt to obtain fundamental data for the development of new type Cordyceps, the effects of the fruiting bodies of cultivated fungus of Paecilomyces japonica grown on silkworm larvae on radiationinduced damages were investigated. We performed this study to determine the effect of Dongchongxiacao (Paecilomyces japonica) on jejunal crypt survival, endogenous spleen colony formation, and apoptosis in jejunal crypt cells and hair follicles of mice irradiated with high and low dose of gamma-radiation. Treatment with Dongchongxiacao showed no significant modifying effects on the jejunal crypt survival and endogenous spleen colony formation. The frequency of radiationinduced apoptosis was reduced by pretreatment of Dongchongxiacao (i.p.: 50 mg/kg of body weight, at 12 and 36 hours before irradiation, p<0.01). The spontaneous levels of apoptotic cells are $0.082{\pm}0.041$ in intestinal crypts and $0.231{\pm}0.084$ per hair follicle section of skin. Pretreatment of Dongchongxiacao was associated with decreases of 26.86% in intestinal crypt and 66.36% in hair follicle decrease in the number of cells with nuclei positively stained for apoptosis compared with the irradiation control group. We demonstrated for the first time that Dongchongxiacao administration could reduce the extent of apoptosis produced by radiation in the hair follicle. The results presented herein that Dongchongxiacao given before irradiation is capable of reducing the severity of cell loss as a result of apoptosis.
돼지 림프구의 미소핵 형성을 지표로 방사선 생물학적 선량측정법 확립

The purpose of the present experiment was to investigate the micronuclei(MN) frequency in cytokinesis-blocked(CB) cells after various doses of gamma-rays in pig (Landrace, male, 3-month-old) and so to contribute to the clarification of the question whether these species are suitable as a target organism in the test system. The frequencies of binucleated cells, and gamma-ray-induced MN in CB cells at several doses were measured in three donors. The peaks of binucleated lymphocyte formation(22%) were found at a concentration of 2% phytohaemagglutinin(PHA) and $4{\mu}g/ml$ Cytochalasin B(Cyt-B) in pig at 72 hours after incubation. Measurements performed after irradiation showed a dose-related increases in MN frequency in each of the donors studied. When analysed by linear-quadratic model the line of best fit was $y=0.0183D+0.0124D^2+0.0133$(y = number of MN/CB cells and D=irradiation dose in Gy). In conclusion, the results demonstrate that it appears feasible to use pig as target organisms in the micronucleus test to estimate the cytogenetic damage caused by ionizing radiations or, potentially, chemical compounds.
메를로-퐁티의 현상학을 기반으로 한 무용에서의 창작자-수용자 소통 연구

The purpose of this research is to consider the meaning of communication process in dance, by applying the concept from Phenomenology of Merleau-Ponty. Unlike the general language the body language in dance does not have any settled symbol system, thus it is difficult to make the consensus between the creator and audience. Therefore, by using the concept of ‘Incarnation’ and ‘Inter-Sensation’ from the Phenomenologie de la Perception, this study tried to reach the core issue arise from the communication relationship between the creator and audience. Consequently, this study drew the conclusion of ‘communication structure model of the creator-audience in dance.’

Cloacal anomalies are very rare congenital malformations with the incidence of 1/50,000-250,000 births. Hydrocolpos involves the dilatation of the vagina due to obstruction of the genital tract, leading to accumulation of secretions. Because of wide spectrum of abnormal anatomy involving urogenital and gastrointestinal systems, prenatal diagnosis is difficult. As ultrasound becomes more and more reliable, prenatal diagnosis is possible as early as in the second trimester. The presence of prenatally detected hydro (metro) colpos warrants a systematic evaluation of fetal and neonatal anatomy to rule out a large variety of possibly associated malformations or syndromes. We present a case of urogenital sinus maldevelopment which was initially presented as a fetal ascites.
