难民形象背后的“权力意志”和“东方主义”

The Korean Armistice Agreement in 1953 brings about a ceasefire, but technically the North and South Korea are still at war. Inevitably, the hardships of refugee life still haunt the tortured souls and the divided country. Both the Korean short stories “Accidental Firing”, “Shorty Kim”, and “Times of Disbelief” and the American novel I Am the Clay not only tell the stories of Korean War refugees who are overwhelmed by the grief of the ruined family and the homeless destitution, but also portray the images of Korean people who don’t want to be bogged down in the swamps of sadness, helplessness or depression and who look forward to the more optimistic and life-affirming way of existence. However, the different perspectives and approaches adopted by the Korean and American authors in their stories in turn lead to the diagonally opposite ways of overcoming and dealing with life challenges. This paper presents comparative research on the works of Korean and American authors to explore and substantiate the Will to Power and Orientalism based on Western Centrism that are embodied in the images of women and children war refugees.

『이칭일본전(異稱日本傳)』 속의 ‘조선’과 ‘일본

본고는 에도 시대 지식인 마쓰시타 겐린(松下見林)이 편찬한 역사서 『이칭일본전(異稱日本傳)』에 채록된 조선의 기록들이 어떠한 일본상(日本像)을 보여주었는지, 또 이러한 기록들에 대해 편찬자가 어떻게 대응하였는지 알아보는 것이 목적이다. 겐린은 역사, 신동(神道), 왕릉(王陵), 풍속, 유직(有職), 국어, 목록, 시경(詩經), 의학, 몽학(蒙學) 등 다양한 분야에서 저술 및 편찬 활동을 펼쳤다. 그러나 그의 모든 성과는 ‘일본 연구’를 지향하고 있으며 일본중심적인 학문 경향이 짙었다. 『이칭일본전』하권(下卷)에서는 15종 조선 문헌 속에서 일본과 관련된 기사를 529조를 발췌하여 인용하였다. 그리고 수록한 문헌과 조목에 따라 편찬자의 고증이나 주관적인 견해를 밝히는 안설(按說)이 252개 정도로 집계된다. 채록된 조선 문헌 속의 일본 관련 기사를 통해 일본의 역사적 이미지가 왜구(倭寇)로 대변되며 강탈적이고 비문명적으로 보여지게 되었다. 이러한 기록에 대해 겐린은 안설이라는 학문적 형식을 선택하여 대응에 나섰다. 그는 조선 문헌 속의 일부 기록들을 부정하고 자국의 입장에서 이를 바로잡으려고 하였다. 또한 안설을 통해 조선을 하시(下視)하고, 일본의 위상을 높이려는 시도도 하였다. 겐린의 조선관은 과격하고 극단적인 면이 있다. 동시대 활동한 일본 학자와 비교할 때 겐린 조선관의 가장 큰 특징은 조선 문헌에 밀착하고 있다는 점이다. 비록 그가 수행한 역사고증 방법이 졸렬한 면이 있지만 그 시대 일본 지식인으로서 색다른 조선관의 일면을 보여주었다는 것은 의미가 있다. The purpose of this paper is to elaborate the relevant situations of “Joseon” and “Japan” in Isyou Nihonden(『異稱日本傳』). This book was compiled by the scholar Matsushita Kenrin(松下見林) in the Edo era. Kenrin had written and compiled in various fields, including history, Shinto(神道), emperor’s mausoleum, customs, official history, Japanese linguistics, bibliography, Shijing(詩經), medicine, enlightenment pedagogy. However, all of his achievements were aimed at “Japanese research,” and there was a strong Japanese-centered academic tendency. Article 529 of articles related to Japan was included in the Isyou Nihonden. All were quoted from 15 ancient books of the Joseon. In addition, according to the contained literature and items, there are about 252 Anseol(按說) expressing the author’s historical or subjective views. Japan’s historical image is represented by Japanese pirates through articles related to Japan in the documented Joseon. Their images had come to be seen as extortionate and uncivilized. In response to these records, Kenrin(見林) chosed an academic form called Anseol to respond. He denied some of the records in the Joseon literature and tried to correct them from the standpoint of his country. He also attempted to despise Joseon and raise Japan’s status through the Anseol. Kenrin’s view of Joseon was radical and extreme. Compared to Japanese scholars who were active at the same time, the biggest characteristic of the Kenrin’s perception of Joseon was that it was closely attached to the Joseon literature. His method of historical examination had a poor side. However, it was meaningful that Japanese intellectuals at that time showed a different side of their perception of Joseon.

ω-변환의 s와 ω영역간의 관계에 대한 유의 성질

In this paper, we present some remarks on the correlations between s and ω domains when a discrete-time transfer function is converted from z-plane by using the ω-transform. With time response specifications, when a digital filter or controller is designed in z-plane, the ω-transform is useful for the purpose if only the ω-transformed system closely approximates to the continuous-time system. It will be shown that the approximation is accomplished only in the specific region depending on sampling time. Also, it is noted that such an approximation should be carefully dealt with for the case where a discrete-time reference transfer function is synthesized for the use of direct digital design.

Practical Design Issues in a Linear Feedback Control System with a Notch Filter

This paper presents some practical design issues that should be carefully considered when a notch filter is included in a linear feedback controller. A notch filter is generally used to compensate the effects of resonant modes that may result in poor performance. It is very common that the practical engineers prefer to add such a notch filter after having previously designed a feedback controller without the filter. It is known that the resulting performance by this approach is not seriously different from when a feedback controller is designed for a plant previously compensated by a notch filter. However, we will point out that there are some cases where both approaches have different performances. In order to show this, a low-order controller design using the partial model matching method has been applied to a linear time invariant (LTI) model. The results suggest that there is a tendency to achieve much better time responses in terms of reducing the overshoot and shortening the settling time, and in the frequency domain characteristics such as the sensitivity function and the stability margins when the design of a feedback controller after including a notch filter is carried out.

Frequency Response Based Multi-Objective Design Toolbox for PID Controller

Recently, a direct data-driven synthesis of a proportional integral derivative (PID) controller for a linear time-invariant (LTI) plant was presented in [1]. The authors showed that a complete set of PID controllers achieving robust performance and stability can be calculated directly from frequency response (FR) data without an identified transfer function model. However, it is not convenient to use this method because it requires complicated numerical algorithms to find specific frequencies which are solutions of an identical equation. The method also requires determination of the boundary of the controller's parameters from a finite set of FR data. In this paper, we present the development of a user-friendly Matlab toolbox based on the method in [1]. This toolbox allows us to obtain a complete three-dimensional (3-D) graphical solution of PID controllers that meet multiple design objectives. Several examples are given to demonstrate the use of the toolbox.

잡가 「왕소군원탄」의 주제적 의미에 대한 고찰

This paper aimed to attempt a valuation of this work by examining the thematic meaning expressed in the Japga “Wang sogoon wontan”. The Japga “Wang sogoon wontan” was a popular song on the Korean Peninsula during the Japanese colonial period, and it was confirmed that it inherited the creation of Chinese poetry in Wang sogoon. The thematic consciousness expressed in “Wang sogoon wontan” can be summarized as the lamentation of the individual’s unhappy life and the anger that left the homeland. Through these two points, we were able to discuss the growth of self consciousness of the common people. Japga “Wang sogoon wontan” has an important literary significance in that it expands the theme of poetry in traditional Wang sogoon.

Robustness Analysis of Pulse Response based Identification Methods for First-Order Plus Time-Delay Model

A new approach on identifying a first-order plus time-delay (FOPTD) model using finite-duration pulse inputs has been presented recently. The identification methods are very simple because it is enough to observe only two extremes and the time when they occur in the transient response to pulse input. However, when there is mismatch between actual system and FOPTD model, how sensitive the methods are has not been studied. In this paper, we investigate robustness issue of those identification algorithms in the presence of the model structure mismatch and uncertainties. Through an example we will demonstrate it.
