In recent years, owing to the superiority of environment-friendly, economical and mechanical properties of Friction Stir Welding(FSW) in global market, many industries were applied such as vehicle, shipbuilding, aircraft and railroad. Thus, the mechanical properties of FSW were evaluated for application of domestic market. In this research, the specimen which was same condition with wheel of vehicle was cutting to 10x10x0.5mm by Al6061. Because the existing test methods were not able to evaluate the properties in the local structure HAZ(Heat Affect Zone) of welded joint. The mechanical properties of welded joint Al6061 by welding conditions such as 900, 1000, 1100rpm and 270, 300, 330mm/min feed rate were evaluated by Small punch(SPtest) method. And then fracture energy were calculated.

The performance of radial type metal foam DPF was studied. The radial type metal foam DPF was built by rolling INCOfoam® HighTemp into a hollow cylinder and installing it inside the DPF can with a conical flow reflector. Several types of metal foam DPF were tested. They are different in filter thickness, mean pore size, and Platinum coating with 2.5g/l or not. The test mode was determined to simulate the on-road vehicle speeds on the engine bench. In the testing vehicle speeds, the SOF in total PM emissions was so high due to the low engine load that the PM reduction via Platinum coating was dominant. Compared with cordierite filters, the radial type metal foam DPF showed similar PM reduction rate but lower increase in Δp during engine run at steady engine conditions due to their large mean pore sizes. Compared with axial type metal foam DPF studied in previous studies, the radial type metal foam DPF provides 7 times higher filtering area which enables higher PM reduction rate and lower Δp across DPF. The Platinum coated radial type metal foam filter was proven to be suitable for the replacement for cordierite filter in that it provides slow increase in Δp but comparable PM reduction rate.

Recently, friction stir welding technology to the purpose for lightweight has been invested. For this reason, the various studies of friction stir welding using aluminum alloy have been needed. In this paper, Al6061-T6 alloy was welded to 3 conditions(rotation speed :1000rpm, feed rate:270, 300, 330mm/min). To evaluate fracture toughness values of welded joint, Small Punch test was used to with two cases of the load rate. The specimens which were classified by advancing side(AS), retreating side(RS) and center(C) were taken in the top of weldment. As compare factors to evaluate fracture toughness, maximum load, equivalent-fracture strain and fracture energy were applied. In the load rate of 0.2mm/min, fracture toughness value using rotation speed of 1000rpm and feed rate of 330mm/min was most excellent of other conditions, but it was poorest in the load rate of 2mm/min.

The air in cities has been heavily polluted by vehicle emissions. Above all, exhaust gases of diesel engines is the principal cause of these air pollutions. DOC is used to reduce harmful emissions, such as HC, CO and PM. But PM reduction rate of DOC is not enough. DPF is necessary to reduce PM and satisfy regulations. Metal foam is the one of promising materials in process on researches. Metal foam filter is available to use with catalytic coating. In case of catalytic metal foam, it reduce efficiency of PM reduction. In this study, we research the cause why efficiency of PM reduction is been worse and find out the most suitable condition.
