The GBCC(Green Building Certification Criteria) system has been in effect since 2001, which has various assessment items according to the classification of building use. Nevertheless, the criteria related with daylighting has not been quantified yet as compared to the other indoor environmental factors in the GBCC, and even the established measure for interior lighting energy saving also have not existed. Therefore, this study is in progress as follows. First, the current state of day lighting-related items in the GBCC was examined. Second, the items were compared with the counterparts in the other foreign systems, such as LEED and CASBEE. Third, in the near future, this study plans to suggest the environmental-friendly certification criteria of daylighting utilization for office buildings.

The shortage of electric power became an object of public concern in Korea, especially in summer and winter season. Many efforts and countermeasures have been considered to reduce electricity consumption, it was not easy to find out exact methods for managing electricity consumptions. The EPMS(Electric Power Monitoring System), a very useful tool for the easier and more convenient management of the electricity consumption in buildings, was developed. The several strategies with this tool were suggested in this paper to reduce the amount of consumptions and peak demand of the electric power consumption.

The daily electric energy consumption of the electrical heat pump(EHP) was investigated, and the heating coefficient of performance(COP) during winter season was analyzed in the present study. The optimal combination strategies of heating systems, which were composed of individual EHP’s and centralized gas boiler, were also determined in a medium sized domestic office building. It was found that the daily heating COP of EHP was lower than the given data by the producer especially in the region of relatively high outdoor air temperature. The optimal combination of operation strategies were proposed for the two types of heating systems installed in this testing building.

Since majority of building energy is used for maintaining thermal comfort, the importance of an efficient building energy management cannot be overemphasized. The purpose of this study is to propose more accurate equations than existing models which have been predicting the building energy consumption. New equation for each building in COEX, a multipurpose building complex was developed through a multiple regression analysis. The historical BAS and FMS data monitored during the cooling season starting from June through August. With several aspects that need follow-up research, it is expected that this feature possibly leads to more efficient chiller plant operation.

To date, heating load of apartment building has been generally evaluated using a houshold unit method having inherent limitations of demanding both tedious effort of modeling and computation time especially for a large apartment complex. On the other hand, an apartment building unit method could calculate the heating load as a whole with preprocessing simplifications. As the existing study of an apartment building unit method is limited to the peak design heating load calculation, this study is to extend the method to estimating annual heating load using EnergyPlus program. The results show that the method dramatically reduces computational time and modeling effort as well.

Vacuum kinetic spraying (VKS) is a relatively advanced process, by which a dense film can be fabricated at room temperature. Various materials including ceramic, metal, polymer and composite can be used as the substrate and coating materials. In this research, red and blue color films were successfully fabricated on glass substrates using Co(Al, Cr)2O4 and C9H13CdN2O4SSe ceramic pigment powders in a VKS system. Although the deposition behavior of each powder differed according to particle size and/or materials, it was confirmed that the brightness and transmittance of the color film could be easily changed by controlling the process parameters. Furthermore, using masking technology, design color patterns were fabricated. As a result, it is cautiously expected that the VKS process can be utilized to produce decorative coating/patterning for product design. (Received January 6, 2016; Accepted March 17, 2016)

The purpose of this study is to suggest KPI level as quantitative index of occupant"s claims in order to analysis level of maintenance management service of building services. And, the actual building was analyzed by applying the mobile messenger platform to the helpdesk service of building maintenance and management. The efficiency of the building maintenance system was evaluated by analyzing the response tie of the user claim and evaluating the effect on the maintenance characteristics of the building.

Ground-source heat pump (GSHP) systems have become an efficient alternative to conventional cooling and heating methods due to their higher energy efficiency. These systems use the ground as a heat source and the heat sink for cooling mode operation. The purpose of this simulation study is to evaluate the performance of a hypothetical GSHP system in an office building and to assess the energy saving effect against the existing HVAC systems (boiler and turbo chiller). We collected monthly energy consumption data from an actual office building (32,488 m2) in Seoul, and created a model to calculate the hourly building loads with EnergyPlus. In addition, we used GLD (Ground Loop Design) V8.0, a GSHP system design and simulation software tool, to evaluate hourly and monthly performance of the GSHP system. The energy consumption for the GSHP system based on the hourly simulation results were estimated to be 582.6 MWh/year for cooling and 593.2 MWh/year for heating, while those for the existing HVAC systems were found to be 674.5 MWh/year and 2,496.4 MWh/year, respectively. The seasonal performance factor (SPF) of the GSHP system was also calculated to be in the range of 3.37∼4.28.
