The aim of this paper is to investigate Japanese speakers" perception of Korean tense consonants. In a range of perceptual experiments Japanese participants were directed to label Korean stimuli using Japanese katakana characters. The analysis of the results showed a strong influence of Japanese phonology in the responses. Japanese perception of sokuon was increased, (1) when the tense consonants were in word medial position, (2) when tense consonants were other than /s/, (3) when the tense consonant followed voiceless consonants, (4) when the consonants were part of a cluster sharing their point of articulation, (5) when preceding vowel were other than /u/, (6) when following vowel were /u/. This result, showing preference for phonology , is in harmony with previous research on the Japanese sokuon perception using Japanese (Takeyasu 2009, Matsui 2011), and Italian (Tanaka & Kubozono 2008) stimuli.

In case of bus rollover, the body structure or the bus should be designed to ensure the survival space for passengers. So, this study focuses on evaluating rollover strength through a computer simulation using the commercial code, LS-DYNA3D at the initial stage of vehicle development. For this study, section structure was modeled using a ssimple beam element, and impact boundary conditions required by ECE(Economic Commission for Europe) regulation No.66 were applied.

심장의 원발성 종양은 드문 질환으로, 대부분의 경우 점액종이다. 심장의 점액종은 중추신경계와 혈관계통에 발생하는 색전의 원인이나 그 임상 증상은 비특이적이다. 비특이적인 전신 증상과 경미한 색전에 의한 증상은 심장 병력이 없는 환자에서 쉽게 지나칠 수 있다. 그러나 치명적인 색전을 예방하기 위해서는 점액종의 임상증상에 대한 이해와 적절한 치료가 필요하다. 저자들은 간질성 폐부종 증상으로 내원하여 좌심방 점액종을 진단받고 수술을 앞두고 있던 중다발성 색전으로 인해 사망한 환자 1예를 경험하였기에 문헌고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다. Primary neoplasm of the heart is rare. Benign tumors, the majority of which are myxomas, comprise up to 50% of cardiac neoplasms. Although cardiac myxoma is a source of emboli to the central nervous system and elsewhere in the vascular tree, its clinical signs and symptoms may be nonspecific. These nonspecific systemic symptoms and minor embolic phenomena may be overlooked in patients without a previous history of cardiac problems. Thus, we need to recognize the signs of myxoma and begin treatment immediately. We encountered a case of left atrial myxoma, presenting as pulmonary interstitial edema of unknown cause, in a 50-year-old female patient. Excision of a mass located on the left atrium was scheduled but she developed a cerebral embolism that led to her death. (Korean J Med 79:191-194, 2010)
새로이 분리된 Klebsiella pneumoniae 균주들의 글리세롤 기반 3-hydroxypropionic acid 및 1,3-propanediol 동시 생산성 평가

Co-production of 3-hydroxypropionic acid (3-HP) and 1,3-propanediol (1,3-PDO) was suggested as an innovative strategy to overcome several limitations occurring in the single production of 3-HP from glycerol. In this study, two new isolates of Klebsiella pneumoniae, which produce less lipopolysaccharide (LPS) thus considered less pathogenic than K. pneumoniae DSM 2026, were compared and evaluated for their potential for the co-production of 3-HP and 1,3-PDO. The newly isolated strains showed significantly faster sedimentation rate than DSM, which should be beneficial for downstream processing. Analysis of genome sequences of the isolates confirmed the presence of all genes necessary for glycerol assimilation, 1,3-PDO production and biosynthesis of coenzyme B12. Co-production yield was highest under anaerobic condition while cell growth was highest under aerobic condition. Both strains showed similarly good performance for the co-production although J2B gave the slightly higher co-production yield of 0.80 mol/mol than GSC021 (0.75 mol/mol). The evaluation of the newly developed strains presented here should be useful in designing similar evaluation experiments for other microorganisms.
