In this research, the coiled type tube oil cooler employing in industry fields is composed of a steel shell and a coiled tube unit. The coil unit consists of 4 layers of concentric spirally coiled tubes. Each coil layer is fabricated by bending a straight copper tube into a spiral-coil of two turns. Oil and water are employed as testing fluids. The cold water entering the outermost turn flows along the spirally coiled tube, and flows out at the innermost turn. The hot oil enters the cooler at the side of the shell and flows radially across spiral tubes to the periphery. In this study, the heat transfer characteristics and the performance of a coiled tube oil cooler under cooling conditions are investigated. A mathematical model based upon the heat transfer equation is employed and calculated by using the numerical method to understand the cooler characteristics. The effects of various inlet conditions of working fluids flowing through the coiled type tube oil cooler are discussed.
Study on performance evaluation of a francis turbine

The performance of a francis turbine is studied by applying a new performance evaluation tester. the performance of a francis turbine is predicted under several operating conditions and the prediction results are compared with model test data. As a result, it is demonstrated that the present method can predict the performance of a francis turbine with high accuracy and has usefullness as an engineering tool on the performance of hydraulic turbines.

Aerodynamic forces and moments have been used to control rocket propelled vehicles. If control is required at very low speed, Those systems only provide a limited capability because aerodynamic control force is proportional to the air density and low dynamic pressure. But thrust vector control(TVC) can overcome the drawbacks. TVC is classified by mechanical and fluid dynamic methods. Mechanical methods can change the flow direction by several objects installed in a rocket nozzle exhaust such as tapered ramp tabs. Fluid dynamic methods control the flight direction with the injection of secondary gaseous flows into the rocket nozzle. This paper studies the aerodynamic performance that the tapered ramp tabs showed its geometric characteristics. Numerical simulation was also performed to study flow characteristics and interactions between ramp tabs. This paper provides distribution of pressure in the region enclosed by the tapered ramp tabs.

The shutoff unit was designed to provide rapid insertion of neutron absorbing material into the reactor core to shutdown the reactor quickly and also to withdraw the absorber slowly to avoid a log-rate trip. Four shutoff units were installed on the HANARO reactor but the half-core test facility was equipped with one shutoff unit. The reactor trip or shutdown is accomplished by four shutoff units by insertion of the shutoff rods. The shutoff rod(SOR) is actuated by a directly linked hydraulic cylinder on the reactor chimney, which is pressurized by a hydraulic pump. The rod is released to drop by gravity, when triplicate solenoid valves are de-energized to vent the cylinder. The hydraulic pump, pipe and air supply system are provided to be similar with the HANARO reactor. The shutoff rod drops for 647mm stroke within 1.13seconds to shut down the reactor and it is slowly inserted to the full down position, 700mm, with a damping.We have conducted the drop test of the shutoff rod in order to show the performance and the structural integrity of operating system of the shutoff unit. Freshwater fishes were investigated along the six stations of Nakdong River around Mt. Jiri from 1977 to 1979, and compared with the distribution of fishes in the adjacent waters. The collected species in this study were 27 species 23 genera 7 families, Common species of them were Puntungia herzi, Coreoleuciscus splendidus, Zacco temmincki, Liobagrus mediadioposalis, Coreoperca herzi, and Odontobutis obscura. 10 species which live in this waters are endemic species in Korea. Especially Cobitis rotundicaudata, Coreobagrus brevicorpus, and Niwaella multifasciata showing the limited geographical distribution should be taken care of. 7 species, Sarcocheilichthys wakiya, Culter brevicauda, C. rotundicaudata, C. longicorpus, Lefua costata, Coreobagrus brevicorpus and Lampetra reissneri were reported from this water for the first time, so this water area shall be reported at new geographical distribution areas. Mori`s divison of West Korea subdistrict and South Korea subdistrict can be supported from the following facts: 1) 5 endemic species, Gonoproktopterus mylodon, Gobiobotia macrocephalus, G. brevibarva, Pseudopuntungia nigra, and Cobitis koreensis living in the waters of the Geum and Han River, were not discovered from the waters of the Nagdong, Yeongsan, and Seomjin River, 2) Cobitis longicorpus and C. taenia striata live in the waters of the Nakdong and Seomjin River, and 2 species, Culter brevicauda and Niwaella multifasciata live only in the Nakdong River.
