Marine casualties to fishing boats such as sinking and capsizing took place frequently around the coastal waters in Korea. The existing inflatable liferaft onboard the fishing boats are known to be less stable under the heavy seas. The authors developed auto-stabilizing liferaft to reduce such defects and minimized the loss of life, installing a special ballasting and drain pipes to the liferaft. As a result of drifting and draining tests, new developed liferaft turn out to be much improved in stability with the satisfaction of SOLAS Convention.

Ship handling simulator has much merit to provide trainees with real-like circumstances in doing virtual education and training. To improve the quality of the education, it should be included both the mathematical model which can explain complicated ship's manoeuvrability and graphic tools for 3D images which can embody the visual scenes of reality on screen. This paper is focused on how to construct the marine environment DB(data Base) using S-57 data of ENC(Electronic Navigational Chart).
소형 직접분사식 디젤기관에 있어서 신ㆍ구 노즐의 분무 및 배기특성 비교연구

A Diesel engine is widely used for power source of ship and industry owing to its high thermal efficiency and reliability and durability. However it leads to air pollution due to exhaust gas, and it is important to develop the diesel engine of lower air-pollution to decrease the hazardous exhaust gas emissions. In the latest of diesel engines more efforts have been made on the lower fuel consumption and the reduction of exhaust emission. Especially, in diesel engines, the atomization and injection conditions in related to the exhaust gas have to minimize its harmful components. The atomization characteristics of fuel injection nozzles of D.I. diesel engine have been the subject of intensive study over the last decade. Experience shows that the fuel injection nozzles may foul very rapidly in field service, and that this might have a significant effect on the performance of the engine with regard to emissions. The purpose of this experiment is to predict the fuel injection conditions from new and used nozzles. From new and used nozzles we analyze the conditions of pressures in cylinder, exhaust gas, spray shape. On the basis of these data, the heat release rate, exhaust gas, spray and performance of this engine are analyzed. And then variation of new and used nozzle combustion characteristics are investigated from each test conditions.
연안어장 준설퇴적물을 이용한 Cochlodinium polykrikoides 제거

본 연구에서는 연안어장 준설퇴적물을 이용하여 적조생물인 Cochlodinium polykrikoides을 제거하는 실험을 수행하였다. 최적의 적조제거 조건을 도출하기 위해 준설퇴적물의 투입량 및 입자크기, 열처리, 첨가제 종류 및 함량, 적조 분포 깊이 등의 인자를 조절하였다. 준설퇴적물의 적정 투입량은 6~10 g/L 정도였으며, 이를 살포했을 때 제거율은 60분 후 73~93%이었다. 실제 바다에 투입시 단위면적당(1 $m^2$) 건조한 준설퇴적물 기준으로 6~10 $kg/m^3$를 살포하는 것이 필요하다. 준설퇴적물의 입자크기가 작을수록 적조제거율이 증가했다. 입자크기가 <100 ${\mu}m$일 때 제거율이 93%로 100 ${\mu}m$ <f<200 ${\mu}m$ 입자의 경우(51%)보다 훨씬 높았다. 준설퇴적물의 90% 이상이 100 ${\mu}m$ 이하의 크기를 차지하므로 준설퇴적물을 별다른 처리없이 살포했을 때 상당한 효과를 거두리라고 본다. 준설퇴적물에 첨가제(CaO)를 넣어서 적조제거에 높은 효율(99%)을 얻었다. 첨가제의 적정량은 5~10%이지만 pH 상승을 고려해서 가능한 소량 투입하는 것이 적합하다. 적조 분포 깊이가 깊을수록 제거효율은 증가했다. 깊이가 5 cm 일 때 제거효율이 83%이었고 50 cm 깊이에서는 93%이었다. 바다에서 적조가 발생하는 깊이는 3 m 이내이고, Cochlodinium polykrikoides 대부분이 1 m 이내의 깊이에 존재한다. 이 실험결과를 통해 실제 바다에 준설퇴적물을 적용하면 더 높은 적조 제거효율을 얻을 수 있으리라고 기대한다. 연안어장 준설퇴적물(<100 ${\mu}m$) 10 g/L을 투입하여 적조를 최대 93%까지 제거할 수 있었으며, 이 결과는 황토를 이용한 결과(90~97%)와 비슷했다. 본 연구결과는 연안어장 준설퇴적물 살포법이 기존의 황토살포법을 대체할 수 있을 정도로 처리효율이 뛰어남을 보여주었다. In the present study, experiments have been performed to investigate the possibility of removing Cochlodinium polykrikoides using the dredged sediment from a coastal fishery and then to derive the optimal conditions; the amount and particle size of dredged sediment besprinkled into water, the thermal treatment, the types and amounts of additives, and the depth profile of Cochlodinium polykrikoides. Results showed that the optimal amount of dredged sediment besprinkled into water was 6~10 g/L, and the removal efficiency of Cochlodinium polykrikoides after the reaction time for 60 min was 73~93%. Note that, in the real sea water, it is necessary to besprinkle 6~10 $kg/m^3$ of dry dredged sediment on a unit area (1 $m^2$). With decreasing particle size, Cochlodinium polykrikoides could be more efficiently removed. The removal efficiency was 93% with the dredged sediment smaller than 100 ${\mu}m$, whereas it was 51% with that of 100 ${\mu}m$ <f<200 ${\mu}m$. Since most of dredged sediment (over 90%) was smaller than 100 ${\mu}m$, high efficiency could be obtained by besprinkling only the dredged sediment without pre-treatment. CaO was found to be an effective additive in promoting the removal efficiency (up to 99%). The optimal amount of additive was 5~10%, however, it was necessary to use as small amount of an additive as possible in order to avoid the sharp increase in pH. The removal efficiency increased with increasing depth profile of Cochlodinium polykrikoides. The removal efficiency was 83% at 5 cm depth, whereas it was 93% at 50 cm depth. In the sea water, red tide occurred within 3 m depth, and furthermore most Cochlodinium polykrikoides existed within 1 m depth. It was, therefore, expected that higher removal efficiency of Cochlodinium polykrikoides could be obtained when the dredged sediment was besprinkled into the sea water. The removal efficiency of Cochlodinium polykrikoides was up to 93% when the dredged sediment (<100 ${\mu}m$) was besprinkled into water at the ratio of 10 g/L. This result was comparable to that obtained with loess (90~97%). All the results in the present study indicated that the dredged sediment from a coastal fishery could be successfully used as a substitute of loess for removing the red tide alga.

본 연구에서는 한국해양경찰의 교육시스템과 선진해양국의 유사기관의 교육시스템을 상호 비교, 분석하여 21세기 해양경찰의 역할과 임무에 적합한 교육제도의 개선방향에 대해 연구하였다. 그 방안으로 해양경찰은 다양한 루트를 통해 우수한 간부인력을 수급하여 이에 적합한 교육프로그램을 개발하여야 하며, 21세기 발전모델을 토대로 미래지향적인 교육제도를 개발하여야 한다. 또한 교육내용과 교육과목을 해양경찰 관련분야를 전반적으로 취급할 수 있도록 조정하여야 하며, 신규임용자에 대한 교육 및 현직자의 직무교육을 위하여 해양경찰학교 및 자체 교육장을 신설 및 확장하여야 한다. To improve the educational system of Korea Maritime Police Agency(KMPA), the authors investigate and evaluate the present course and curricula in details comparing with the systems of US Coast Guard and Japanese Coast Guard As a result, it is suggested that KMPA try to recruit good-quality officers through the diverse route, develop the future-oriented educational, system, adjust the course and curricula to meet KMPA's role and mission for 21st century. Besides, it requires that KMPA establishes its own institute to carry out the recruit training and re-freshening courses for both the officers and enlisted person.
선박용수의 재사용에 관한 기초연구(II) -중공사모듈 UF MF 필터에 의한 선박폐수의 고도처리-

The Microfiltration and Ultrafiltration were used to treat effluent of secondary municipal wastewater treatment system(Sequencing Batch Reactor). The cross-flow hollow fiber, UF 500,000(NMWC) and MF 0.65$\mu$ membrane were selected as suitable membrane. Short term and long term fouling effect were measured as a factor of flux decrease and the fouling removal effect of mixing air bubble in the penetrant was studied. The removal of anionic sulfactants before and after formation of micelle with several kinds of oil were checked. The test results show that removal of TOC was 70~80%, TN 28% and TP 16%. The decrease of flux due to fouling were 85%(UF) and 90%(MF) after running of 100hrs. The removal of anionic sulfactants were 60~70% notwithstanding micelle or not.
