This study aims to bring up a new understanding for the Chinese directional prepositions through highlighting the function of ‘chong’ as a directional preposition. Although ‘chong’ originally has the use of indicating direction as a preposition, not only was it rarely mentioned as a directional preposition, but also very little research on it has been done. However, according to the results of an analysis on the corpus, the frequency of ‘chong’ not only far exceeds the frequency of ‘chao’ but is also close to the frequency of ‘xiang’, so ‘chong’ needs to be highlighted as one of the directional prepositions along with ‘wang/xiang/chao’. Accordingly, this study compiled the spoken corpus with the lines of the Chinese drama ‘Aiqing zui meili’ and extracted the phrases including ‘wang/xiang/chao/chong’ from it, and analyzed the quantitative distribution and the differences of their functions of them. In connection with the quantitative distribution, the frequencies of ‘wang/xiang/chao/chong’ were first identified, and their usages were subdivided to analyze the frequency of each appearance. And then, the differences of the situations including ‘wang/xiang/chao/chong’ were examined by analyzing the meaning structures of verbs(or verb phrases) combined with them.

The objective of this paper is to examine problems in establishing features of Chinese prepositional constructions in order to produce grammar guideline for Chinese prepositional constructions. Even though there has been great amount of researches in Chinese education field, It seemed not boomed to study about producing guideline for a specific grammar category. For this necessity, this paper attempts to study how to produce guideline for a specific grammar category by focusing on Chinese prepositional constructions, and as the first step of the study, it will be discussed some problems in establishing linguistic status of Chinese prepositional constructions. This paper is formed by the following discussions: (1) to emphasize the necessity of guideline for Chinese grammar education for Korean learners, and to illustrate the basic idea of that; (2) to compare the explanations contained in Chinese grammar materials and to examine the problems in them; (3) to illustrate the difference between causative/passive markers, such as 'rang(讓)', 'jiao(叫)', 'bei(被)', and prepositions by analyzing their semantic structures; (4) to discuss the matter of separating some members, such as 'lian(連)', 'zicong(自從)', 'weile(爲了)', 'weizhe(爲着)', 'you yu(由于)', 'y?nwei(因爲)' from prepositional category by examining the phenomenon that they function as adverbs or conjunctions more frequently; (5) to discuss about including 'b?ng(?)' in Chinese prepositional category as a new member.

This paper will take this new research into account and use it in its reconstruction of the current Chinese causative system and its examination of the features of Chinese causative constructions. By this, it will be help Korean learners to improve their understanding about Chinese causative constructions, furthermore, it can reduce the mistakes of Korean learners in using causative constructions. This paper is formed by following discussions: (1) to clear the range of Chinese causative constructions and reconstruct the Chinese causative system including the b?-construction; (2) to argue the causativity of b?-construction based on the similarity of semantic structures between b?-construction and causative construction; (3) to resort Chinese causative constructions by such criteria as frequency, typicality and the semantic roles of causee.

Informational reality means that the meanings of language expressions mirror the real world. In this paper, this will be discussed as a token of the iconicity of Chinese. This paper aims to illustrate two things: (1) the information in language expressions convey the real world and (2) that Chinese is more iconic than Korean. The latter will be argued through a comparison of the two languages. This paper will contrast the informational reality of Chinese with that of Korean based on the principle of temporal sequence, the removal of logical contradiction, the amount of information and the processing of events. The principle of temporal sequence is widely adopted for iconicity in Chinese, so this paper will introduce earlier studies about this subject and try to apply this methodology to other cases which have not been discussed in the earlier studies. This paper will also discuss another kind of iconic phenomenon where redundant information or logical contradiction which does not mirror the real world is actually not accepted syntactically. This will be discussed as a token of the informational reality of Chinese. Chinese conserves the amount of information of the event in the real world; this shows that Chinese is less implicative than Korean. This paper will suggest this as one of the iconic properties of Chinese. Lastly, Chinese has a tendency to convey the original information of the event in the real world without processing.
