        Outcome of neonatal palliative procedure for pulmonary atresia with ventricular septal defect or tetralogy of Fallot with severe pulmonary stenosis: experience in a single tertiary center

        Purpose: The present study aimed to evaluate progression and prognosis according to the palliation method used in neonates and early infants aged 3 months or younger who were diagnosed with pulmonary atresia with ventricular septal defect (PA VSD) or tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) with severe pulmonary stenosis (PS) in a single tertiary hospital over a period of 12 years. Methods: Twenty with PA VSD and 9 with TOF and severe PS needed initial palliation. Reintervention after initial palliation, complete repair, and progress were reviewed retrospectively. Results: Among 29 patients, 14 patients underwent right ventricle to pulmonary artery (RV-PA) connection, 11 palliative BT shunt, 2 central shunt, and 2 ductal stent insertion. Median age at the initial palliation was 13 days (1–98 days). Additional procedure for pulmonary blood flow was required in 5 patients; 4 additional BT shunt operations and 1 RV-PA connection. There were 2 early deaths among patients with RV-PA connection, one from RV failure and the other from severe infection. Finally, 25 patients (86%) had a complete repair. Median age of total correction was 12 months (range, 2–31 months). At last follow-up, 2 patients had required reintervention after total correction; 1 conduit replacement and 1 right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT) patch enlargements. Conclusion: For initial palliation of patients with PA VSD or TOF with severe PS, not only shunt operation but also RV-PA connection approach can provide an acceptable outcome. To select the most proper surgical strategy, we recommend thorough evaluation of cardiac anomalies such as RVOT and PA morphologies and consideration of the patient’s condition.

        ATM망에서 UPC/NPC를 고려한 트래픽 정형화기

        본 논문에서는 ATM 망을 구성하고 있는 노드(node) 간의 셀(cell) 전송시에 출력 링크(output link)로 전송된 셀이 수신 노드에서 수행하는 UPC/NPC에 의해 손실되지 않는 트래픽 정형화기(shaper)를 제안한다. 제안한 정형화기는 비실시간 가변비트율(nrt-VBR) 트래픽을 대상으로 한 것으로 각 ATM 연결(connection)에 대해 독립된 큐(queue)를 할당하였으며, 출력 링크로 전송할 셀을 저장하고 있는 큐를 선정하기 위해 모든 큐에 대해 Generic Cell Rate Algorithm(GCRA)를 수행하여 큐의 상태를 결정하고, 그 결과 전송 가능 상태에 있는 모든 큐들을 대상으로 본 논문에서 제안한 시간의존 확률적 스케줄링(time-dependent probability scheduling) 알고리즘을 적용하여 특정 큐를 선택하여 셀을 전송한다. 제안한 정형화기의 성능평가를 위해 WRR(Weighted Round Robin) 스케줄링 알고리즘을 사용한 정형화기 및 WFQ(Weighted Fair Queueing) 스케줄링 알고리즘을 적용한 정형화기에 대한 모의실험을 하였으며, 그 결과 제안한 정형화기는 비실시간 가변비트율(nrt-VBR) 트래픽의 정형화(shaping)에 우수한 성능을 나타냄을 확인하였다.

        양적 자료의 평균, 중앙값 그리고 최빈값에 대한 위치 비교 연구

        In general the mean, median, and mode as the measure of central location are widely used in exploratory data analysis for a quantitative data. When using simultaneously these measures, we must compare with location of them. So many elementary statistics books just mentions that the relative location of these measures, mean<median<mode, mean=median=mode, and mode<median<mean, can be used to determine whether a distribution is positively or negatively skewed. But because there are 8 relative locations for these measures it is impossible to generate data which are satisfied with all possible locations with skewness only. In this paper we introduce the method generating data that are satisfied with all possible 8 relative locations of the mean, median, and mode in a quantitative data. 양적자료를 분석 할 때 탐색적 단계에서 자료의 중심을 나타내는 측도로 평균(mean), 중앙값(median), 그리고 최빈값(mode)을 일반적으로 사용하고 있다. 이 측도들을 같이 사용하는 경우에는 이들의 위치관계를 비교하게 된다. 따라서 많은 통계학 교재들은 일반적으로 자료의 형태를 나타내는 왜도에 따라서 중심을 나타내는 측도들의 위치관계는 평균<중앙값<최빈값, 평균=중앙값=최빈값, 그리고 최빈값<중앙값<평균 중에 하나로 결정될 수 있다고 설명하고 있다. 그러나 이 세 가지 측도들의 가능한 위치관계는 모두 8가지가 존재하기 때문에 왜도만을 이용해서는 위치관계를 만족하는 자료를 생성할 수 없다. 본 논문에서는 양적자료의 세 가지 중심측도 값들이 가질 수 있는 모든 8가지 위치관계들을 만족하는 자료들을 생성하는 방법에 대해서 연구한다.주요용어 : 왜도, 평균, 중앙값, 최빈값.

        We can use the logistic model for categorical data when the response variables are binary data. In this paper we consider the problem of constructing approximate confidence region for logistic model in I×J×2 contlnsrency table. These constructions are simplified by applying the logit transformation. This transforms the problem to consider linear form which is called the logit model. Estimation of parameters in logistic model can be accomplished by maximum likelihood. Under regularity conditions, maximum likelihood estimators of parameters has a large-sample normal distribution. Scheffe's method is used to obtain approximate confidence region for the logit model. Once this is done, the reverse transform is applied to obtained approximate confidence region for logistic model.

        It is important t replenish of the fundamental science for attempting the nation-wide campaign for formation of a scientific way of life and is necessary to improve the science curriculum for the wealth of fundamental science. Physical science Ⅱ Course which was formed as a added part of IPS course in U.S.A. has much distinguished features in it's course and also merits in the management of the curriculum. The main sequence of basic concept of the course is electricity and energy and the book is consisted in 11 chapters and 77 sections. This curriculum is taking serious view of experiment and has a clear central concept to let effectively understand. The method of managing curriculum has introduced the modern method of physics contemplating the macroscopic phenomena in the microscopic situation, and let the students in a discoverer or an inquirer place by the discovery-centered instruction. Expriment, of this curriculum is mostly student lab, is enforced before studying the contents. Most of them is quantitative and there are many experiments by the models. Many experiments are able to do in classroom and very interesting most of equipments are very much convenience. If the merits and distinguished feature will be reflected into the our new science curriculum for middle school which was formed last year, the science curriculum will be of much values and contribute the nation-wide campaign for formation of a scientific way of life.

        The science education in Japan is said to be aheaded in the Asian region, They are started late on modernization, fllowed the advanced western countries as models. The reform of education after the war introduced the 6-3-3-4 system, extended compulsory education to nine years, and the science teacher training system is reformed radically on the basis of following: 1. Teacher-training system should be open. 2. Various kind of teachers should be trained at university and college. At present almost all university and colleges offers the teacher training course in the Japan. On a comparative basis, they are aheaded to our country in the standard of equipment and facillities so we are forced to maintain the quality of science education in the preparing teachers courses, finally some suggestion are extracted.

      • 物理 計劃實驗의 效率的인 運營方案에 關한 硏究

        In the new curriculum of physics in high schools, beginning from 1984, the intensified factors to be taught are as follows : reconstruction of the present ex-perimental apparatuses, moderate manufactures of necessary appliances, the colle-ction of proper materials dwelt on characteristics of the communities, and neces-sities of efficient teachers. The pupose of this study is to propose materils about effective methods to manage the project laboratory by demonstrating the sample project laboratory wo-rk. As for the method utilized here, after the experimental assignments, given to the senior students, were completed, they were required to announce the results of their researches in the from of a graduation thesis when they solved the mo-re complicated tasks by making use of the earlier materials. Thus, it is concluded that there will become excellent teachers who can tea-ch students effectively, if they try to adopt the proposal mentioned above and want to be trained thoroughly under the project laboratory work.

        Experiment is very important in physics education and is much so in the new curriculum of physics. Writers investigated and analyzed the status of the high school physics experiment in our nation. From the problems which was found, we do grope the improved plan for the advanced physics experiment engagement. (1)Curriculum It seems to be in correspondance with the current of modern thought, but the system of selection must be changed and the units of the physics curriculum (12 units) must be increased. (2) Laboratory facilities Laboratories, collateral facilities and experiment apparatus must be filled up, especially the teaching materials of the modern physics. (3)Experiment management More student experiments are demanded. And experiment management which is in according to the ability of the students is realized (essential, optional, extra-curriculum experiment etc). (4) Teachers In order to adapt to the new physics experiment, in-service training workshop is periodically need. And teaching condition should be improved and teacher's loadings should be reduce, and teachers could be received good payment. (5) Students An instructive and an interesting physics experiments are imposed to the student in order that the students are familiar to the physics.
