        Gender Dfferences in Ground Reaction Force Components

        Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate gender differences in ground reaction force (GRF) components among different speeds of running. Method: Twenty men (age=22.4±1.6 years, mass=73.4±8.4 kg, height=176.2±5.6 cm) and twenty women (age=20.7±1.2 years, mass=55.0±8.2 kg, height=163.9±5.3 cm) participated in this study. All participants were asked to run on an instrumented dual belt treadmill (Bertec, USA) at 8, 12, and 16 km/h for 3 min, after warming up. GRF data were collected from 30 strides while they were running. Hypotheses were tested using one-way ANOVA, and level of significance was set at p-value <.05. Results: The time to passive peaks was significantly earlier in women than in men at three different running speeds (p<.05). Further, the impact loading rates were significantly greater in women than in men at three different running speeds (p<.05). Moreover, the propulsive peak at 8 km/h, which is the slowest running speed, was significantly greater in women than in men (p<.05), and the vertical impulse at 16 km/h, which is the fastest running speed, was significantly greater in men than in women (p<.05). The absolute anteroposterior impulse at 8 km/h was significantly greater in women than in men (p<.05). In addition, as the running speed increased, impact peak, active peak, impact loading rate, breaking peak, propulsive peak, and anteroposterior impulse were significantly increased, but vertical impulse was significantly decreased (p<.05). Conclusion: The impact loading rate is greater in women than in men regardless of different running speeds. Therefore, female runners might be exposed to the risk of potential injuries related to the bone and ligament. Moreover, increased running speeds could lead to higher possibility of running injuries.         보행 시 낙상 유무에 따른 압력중심점의 복잡성 비교

        Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the falls on the center of pressure (CoP) complexity during gait using non-linear approximate entropy (ApEn). Method: 20 elderly women with experience of falling (age = 72.55 ± 5.42 yrs; height = 154.40 ± 4.26 cm; body weight = 57.40 ± 6.21 kg; preferred gait speed = 0.52 ± 0.17 m/s) and 20 elderly women with no experience of falling (age = 71.90 ± 2.90 yrs; height = 155.28 ± 4.73 cm; body weight = 56.70 ± 5.241 kg; preferred gait speed = 0.56 ± 0.13 m/s) were recruited for the study. While they were walking at their preferred gait speed on a treadmill (instrumented dual belt treadmills, Bertec, USA) with a force plate CoP data were collected for the 20 strides. The complexity of the CoP was analyzed using the ApEn technique. Results: The ApEn of the medial-lateral CoP in the fallers showed smaller about 16% compared to the non-fallers (p<.05). The ApEn of the antero-posterior CoP of the fallers showed smaller about 12% compared to the non-fallers, but the difference was not statistically significant. Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, the reduction of the medio-lateral CoP complexity in the elderly gait would be an index to determine the potential fall.

        "청기재하(淸氣在下), 탁기재상(濁氣在上)"에 대한 고찰(考察) - 『상한론(傷寒論)』 병증(病症)과의 비교 -

        Objective : Describe the phenomenon of "clear qi below, turbid qi above" as found in the Somun Eumyangeungsangdaelon (Major Essay on Yinyang Resonances and Appearances 素問 陰陽應象大論) and compare this pattern with water-grain dysentery and flatulence symptom patterns in the Sanghallon (Treatise on Cold Damage). Method : Study the annotation of the Hwangjenaegyeong (Yellow Emperor's Internal Classic 黃帝內經) and compare the results with the Sanghallon's water-grain dysentery and flatulence. Conclusions and Results : The causes of water-grain dysentery and flatulence are associated with the ascending and descending properties of Yin and Yang. Additionally, these symptoms can also be caused by pathogenic heat, turbid pathogenic factors, and interruption of the movement of clear and turbid qi. Aspects of water-grain dysentery resemble several patterns found in the Sanghallon. If caused by a weakness of yang qi, it resembles Sayeoktang (四逆湯) syndrome. Weakness of spleen qi resembles Ijungtang (理中湯) syndrome. Flatulence is similar to fullness in the chest syndrome, which in the Sanghallon is caused by an obstruction of cold qi. If there is excessive cold, water-grain dysentery is similar to the syndrome of Gyeolhyung (結胸). If the qi is not scattered, deficiency syndrome is similar to Gyejigejagyaktang (桂枝去芍藥湯) syndrome and excess syndrome is similar to Mahwangtang (麻黃湯) syndrome. When flatulence is caused by fever in chest, it is similar to Chijasitang (梔子?湯) syndrome. When caused by heat and phlegm build up in chest, it is similar to Sipjotang (十棗湯) syndrome.

        달리기 시 충격력과 충격 쇼크 변인들과의 관계

        Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between impact and shear peak force, and tibia-accelerometer variables during running. Method: Twenty-five male heel strike runners (mean age: 23.5±3.6 yrs, mean height: 176.3± 3.3 m/s, mean mass: 71.8±9.7 kg) were recruited in this study. The peak impact and anteroposterior shear forces during treadmill running (Bertec, USA) were collected, and impact shock variables were computed by using a triaxial accelerometer (Noraxon, USA). One-way ANOVA was used to test the influence of the running speed on the parameters. Pearson's partial correlation was used to investigate the relationship between the peak impact and shear force, and accelerometer variables. Results: The running speed affected the peak impact and posterior shear force, time, slope, and peak vertical and resultant tibial acceleration, slope at heel contact. Significant correlations were noticed between the peak impact force and peak vertical and resultant tibia acceleration, and between peak impact average slope and peak vertical and resultant tibia acceleration average slope, and between posterior peak (FyP) and peak vertical tibia acceleration, and between posterior peak instantaneous slop and peak vertical tibial acceleration during running at 3 m/s. However, it was observed that correlations between peak impact average slope and peak vertical tibia acceleration average slope, between posterior peak time and peak vertical and resultant tibia acceleration time, between posterior peak instantaneous slope and peak vertical tibial acceleration instantaneous slope during running at 4 m/s. Conclusion: Careful analysis is required when investigating the linear relationship between the impact and shear force, and tibia accelerometer components during relatively fast running speed.

      • 개구장애 입벌림 측정 도구의 검사자간, 검사자내 신뢰도 측정

        개구장애는 턱관절의 움직임 제한으로 입이 벌어지지 않는 증상을 말한다. 개구장애는 구강위생, 식사하기, 말하 기 등 일상생활에 큰 지장을 초래한다. 현재 입벌림 크기의 검사는 다양한 도구가 사용되고 있다. 개구장애에 대한 여러 연구들에서 직선자, Vernier calipers, Atos Medical사의 TheraBite® range of motion scale 등이 사용되었다. 따 라서 본 연구는 여러 입벌림 검사 도구 중 사용이 간단한 TheraBite® ROM scale을 사용하여 검사자간, 검사자내 신뢰도를 알아보고자 한다. 연구의 대상은 20, 30대의 정상성인 남자, 여자 각각 5명씩 총 10명을 대상으로 하였다. 측정자는 임상경력 15년인 작업치료사와 개구장애 환자를 치료하며 입벌림을 검사한 임상경력 10년인 작업치료사로 선정하였다. 대상자는 허리를 펴고 전방을 응시하고 바르게 앉아 머리를 고정하고 입을 최대한 벌리게 하여 검사하였다. 통계 프로그램으로는 IBM SPSS version 23을 사용하였다. 검사자내 신뢰도에서 검사자A는 .986에서 .998의 신뢰도 를 보였고 검사자B는 .985에서 .998로 두 명의 검사자 모두 높은 검사자내 신뢰도를 보였다. 검사자간 신뢰도에서 두 명의 검사자는 높은 검사자간 신뢰도를 보였다(r=.994). Trismus is a condition in which the mouth is not opened due to movement limitation of the jaw joint. Trismus causes major disruption to daily life, such as oral hygiene, eating and speaking. Currently, various tools are used to measure the mouth opening. Vernier calipers and the TheraBite® range of motion scale from Atos Medical were used in several studies of the opening defect. In this study, we used TheraBite® ROM scale, which is easy to use among various mouth opening measurement tools, to investigate the intra-test and intra-test reliability. The subjects of this study were normal adult 10 men and 10 women. The measurer was selected as occupational therapist who has 15 years of clinical experience and occupational therapist who has treated open mouth disorder for 2 years or more during 9 years of career. IBM SPSS version 23 was used as the statistical program. Measurer A showed confidence in .986 to .998 and Reporter B in .985 to .998 showed high confidence in both of the two investigators. In the inter-rater reliability, two measurers showed high inter-rater reliability (r = .994). The TheraBite® ROM scale is a reliable measurement tool if the measurer measures with accurate metrics.
