The Effect of Remedial Works to Control the Leakage Problem in Earth Fill Dam by Compaction Grouting
천병식,이용재,정하익,Chun, Byung-Sik,Lee, Yong-Jae,Chung, Ha-Ik Korean Geotechnical Society 2006 한국지반공학회논문집 Vol.22 No.11
The sinkhole and leakage in dam core were detected at one of earth fill dams in Korea. The damage areas in the core of the dam were repaired by compaction grouting method. This study is to evaluate compaction grouting activity by in-situ and laboratory experiments before, during and after the remedial work. The intensive site investigation and geophysical survey were conducted during and after the compaction grouting work. The compaction grouting work was carried out for the damaged dam core between June 16 and August 24, 2000. The leakage reduction generally occurred in the core of the dam after the remedial work. The use of compaction grouting was considered the proper countermeasures for repairing the damaged dam. It shows that the loose or voided zones have been properly filled and the leakage has been reduced by about 96% of that before the treatment of the remedial work performed at dam core by compaction grouting.

This paper aimed, after an overall examination of the social and historical backgrounds of Lee Dynasty from the 18th to the 19th century, to make a study on what motivated the formation of Si-Sa of Wi-Hang people and on how they developed their literature through Si-Sa. In the 18th century the idea of Sil-Hak made a great contribution to the development of commerce and industry in Seoul, and the changing of Seoul into a commercial and industrial city provided favorable conditions for the literary activities of Wi-Hang people. In order to attempt to rise up socially to the same level of Sa-Dae-Bu and to get rid of the isolated feeling in their mind, Wi-Hang people made a Si-Hoe (Literary circle of poets) and attached themselves to the composition of poems, which were usually filled up with their emotional bitterness and anger. In addition to vigorous literary activities, Si-Sa made a great contribution to the expulsion of feudalism and to the reformation of social system. The members of Si-Sa not only issued their collected literary writings and their collaborated poetic works and published their biographies, but also tried their best to create a society respectful of social equality of the whole people. Si-Sa also played a great role in the introduction and reception of new culture in this country with its vigorous will to achieve a free society.

Wi-Hang Literature was first introduced in the latter part of the 17th century by Wi-Hang poets. It enjoyed its peak time in the 18th century and decayed in the 19th century. One of the great changes in the latter part society of the Yi Dynasty was that art started to have new developments. Along with music and paintings we could see such kind of phenomena in literature Wi-Hang-In, while accepting the contents and forms of Chinese poetry and prose, started to show some characteristics in their own. In this study the author has attempted to make a research into some characteristics in terms of contents and forms of Wi-Hand Literary works which are differnent from those of Yang-Ban Sa-Dae-Bu. Firstly, in contents, they criticized the reality of their days, brought a charge against the miserable situations of farmers, wrote a lot of poems in retrospection and sentimentalism by the name of Young-Sa-Si. They also produced many works reflecting diversified feelings of people's daily life realistically, turned daily words into poetic diction, used satire and humour frequently, trying to express Cheon-Gi and nature faithfully.
